Chapter 71: CHAPTER 70 – Trust and Undercurrents.
“What’s happening here?”
Theron’s voice echoed through the hallway as the first thing he saw when he stepped here was the blood pooling out in front of Alex’s cabin.
‘That’s Alex’s cabin!’ He thought, his eyes going a bit wide as his face turned cold, then, without a second’s delay, he rushed toward the cabin since it was supposed to be Alex’s cabin, followed by two teachers who initially wore arrogant expressions on their faces, only to have it replaced with terror the moment they saw the blood.
Both of them knew that it was Alex’s cabin. They were two of the teachers who mostly came in case help was needed, and they knew very well whose son Alex was, so if something were to happen to him…
Shiver X2
They shivered, recalling the cold look on Vanessa’s face when she had asked them to look after Alex, and even though they knew that she had just said it, the fact that they failed to do it would come down heavily on them, so with a look of horror on their faces…
Woosh
They zoomed past Theron and hurriedly arrived at the cabin’s door.
“There, there~”
It was only when they saw Alex, still in one piece, and he seemed to be hugging Zahara, the rule keeper, patting her back, completely ignoring their presence, that they calmed down.
They then saw Fenna standing at the side, her expression sour as she kept looking away, only occasionally glancing at them before turning away.
Soon, just a second later, Theron arrived, his expression hard, but there was a hint of worry in his eyes, which dissipated the moment he saw Alex kneeling on the floor with Zahara in his arms.
As their eyes met, Alex nodded to him with a smile, making Theron sigh in relief, but the next second, he saw a cold light flashing past Alex as he gestured at something, and only then did Theron notice the source of blood.
“What happened here?” He questioned, an authoritative air surrounding him with a strange glint flashing past his eyes when he saw Fenna’s sour expression, frowning a bit before he shook his head, and glanced at Alex, waiting for a reply.
But the moment his voice was heard was the moment both the girls were made aware of the presence of more than just then in this area, and both of the girls widened their eyes, Zahara in particular, as she quickly moved away from Alex, and with panic written on her face, she looked inside the cabin, only to have a confused expression marring her tear-ridden face the next moment.
‘Father?’ She frowned as she couldn’t find Reganath there anymore. ‘Where did he go?’
But before she could grow worried, she felt a warm hand moving on her cheeks, whipping the tears of them, and she saw Alex smiling at her gently, making her lower her head with a blush.
Alex hadn’t said anything other than sorry for a while, but just the warmth of being hugged by him spoke more than any word could.
So, this time, unlike last time, Zahara didn’t keep her head down; with her palm placed on Alex’s large palm on her cheek, she looked right into his eyes with a big smile.
‘Damn, she could smile like that?’ Was the only thing Alex could think of, but he knew that he had to reply to Theron, so he turned toward the guy with a nod to Zahara, not wanting Fenna to reply and mess things up before he could even say something.
Alex failed to notice that Fenna, who saw his and Zahara’s interaction, was pouting with her hands folded in front of her breasts, huffing in annoyance.
‘I want that as well… I have been with him longer…’ she muttered inwardly, pouting harder, not even looking at Theron, who was now frowning as he saw all this.
“I was attacked, sir.”
It was only when Alex began that his attention was pulled toward him, frowning harder when he heard those words; even Zahara tensed, and her smile froze only to shake her head the next second.
For a second, the thought that Alex was going to tell them about her father crossed her mind, but recalling the smile on his face, she just ignored it, focusing on what he was going to say.
“Elaborate,” Theron spoke, still frowning, and Alex, nodding his head, pointed at the two teachers dead behind him.
“These two teachers barged into my room when I was still sleeping, wanting to kill me; if not for some means I had, they would’ve killed me.”
Alex’s serious reply made both the teachers’ eyes widen in disbelief as they looked at the corpses of the teachers on the ground.
‘Star connection realm experts…’
Both teachers who had died were star connection realm experts, not something a star formation level expert could ever hope to defeat—everyone knew that.

Fenna and Zahara also had their expression shift a bit, but they soon controlled it. No matter how surprised they were, and no matter how unexpected Alex’s excuse was, they knew that their act would be a determining factor.
‘He’s trusting us.’ They could tell that.
After all, he had just decided to tell the lie even though he couldn’t get a chance to discuss it with them.
Zahara’s eyes moved at Fenna, hoping that she wouldn’t tell the truth. She was about to be killed by Reganath after all. No one knew what she could be thinking, but as she saw Fenna secretly winking at her, she sighed in relief, smiling inwardly, happy that it was Fenna who was here right now.
Theron, on the other hand, wasn’t aware of all that was secretly going on, so his eyes turned cold as he took Alex’s words as the truth.
“I will need to report this to the higher authorities.” With a frown, Theron commented. He already knew ‘they’ were going to make a move, but he didn’t know it would be this soon.
Alex wasn’t even aware of ‘them’ yet, after all.
The two teachers, on the other hand, gritted the moment they heard his words, and exchanging a glance, one of them, the man, spoke.
‘We need to stop things from reaching the higher-ups.’ This was the only thing going on in their heads.
“We need to verify if what we are told is the truth or not.” With his eyes squinting, the male teacher spoke, glancing at the corpses and then Alex. “It’s a bit hard to believe your story when you are just a star formation expert claiming to have dealt with two star connection realm experts.”
The man’s words made it clear that he wasn’t buying Alex’s story.
Fenna and Zahara, hearing that, started to panic. If they were to take those bodies away and use the memory-scanning artifact, then although they wouldn’t be able to get any information from the teacher whose head was pierced through, as his brain wasn’t in a shape to give them anything, the one with his heart torn apart was a different case…
They would be able to get everything out of that one teacher—which meant they would know everything that had gone down a while ago.
But Theron, with his face as cold as a glacier, interrupted, “Are you saying that my second seat is lying?”
In Theron’s eyes, these two teachers were clearly trying to just stall for time by taking the bodies for verification purposes.
