Chapter 73: CHAPTER 72 – A week gone by.
A Week Later.
“Hey, have you heard?”
A guy wearing a purple uniform from Originiveil Academy, indicating that he was a mage, walking down the streets of the fifth peak of the academy questioned one of his friends.
“Yeah, I hear they recovered…” One of his friends replied with an exaggerated sigh, recalling the election competition and the brutality of that single match.
“That’s not all. I saw one of them; he’s in my class. That guy was flirting with girls like all of that happened had never happened.” Another one of them added, growling in frustration as he recalled how easily that guy could talk to girls.
‘Why is god so unfair!’ This was something he couldn’t speak out loud, as the guy knew that it was just him who was bad at talking to girls.
“It is said that they found some sort of miracle elixir that cured them.” Another guy, this one wearing a blue variation of the same uniform, indicating his being a Knight course student, joined the conversation.
All of them had yellow crests on their coats, which meant they were first-year students, the ones who most of the time didn’t attend classes.
“Yeah, that’s what they say when they want to hide something.” Scoffed another one of them, wearing glasses, which somehow gave him a feeling that he was a scholar.
“What do you mean?” The first guy questioned curiously. He knew that no matter how arrogant this friend of theirs was, he was well aware of how the world worked. The others also had their ears perked as they passed through the stalls, breathing in the mixed scent of the market, picking things they wanted.
It was class time, but as in any other institute, students didn’t really love studying; most of the time, they would just bunk classes, only attending the classes that taught them about magic and knight skills or were about physical usage of those things.
No one wanted to stay in classes that taught them things like vocabulary and history. They didn’t want to become big brains after all; they just wanted to get stronger.
“Well, you see…” Pushing his glasses like a knowledgeable person, the glassed boy questioned, “Who is Keryu Ivanovich?”
“The demon lord’s son, duh.”
The question was answered just as fast as it was questioned, but the boy wasn’t done yet.
Another question was already on his lips. “What do you think he would care about the most?”
This question put the friends in a bind. What could the strongest person care about the most?
“Power?” One of them asked with uncertainty, only to see the glassed boy shaking his head. “Why would the strongest person care about power?” He just glanced at the guy as if he were an idiot before turning to the others, hoping that they would answer his question, but all of them just wondered what it could be.
‘It’s the image.’
The answer was right, and the boy would’ve agreed, but it was not his friend who had answered the question, but someone who, without being noticed by anyone, was walking around just like them.
It was a white-haired boy with short hair left wildly and electric blue eyes that shone playfully from time to time.
He had passed right through them, raising a brow as he heard that question, but after that, he just went on his way, and so did the group of students, talking about the same topic just like many other people.
Right now, the white-haired boy was eating an apple that he had ‘borrowed’ from one of the stall owners, who didn’t even know that he had taken it away.
[So, you think it was the demon lord who bought elixir for not only Keryu but Ben as well?]
The moment the guy thought of those words was the moment a series of words floated in front of him, along with a melodic feminine voice echoing in his head.
‘You say as you don’t know.’ The boy, Alex Drakathor, however, just shrugged it off casually.
The hottest topic going around right now was the speedy recovery of both Keryu and Ben, as it had been just a week, but they were already up, even after they had pushed themselves so much during their match—something that surprised even Alex.
‘But well, I had predicted it to some extent.’ Taking another bite of the apple, he hummed inwardly. ‘The plot wouldn’t be able to move forward without the protagonist acting because I’m not interfering, so of course, it will try to mend itself by having the protagonists up and moving.’
This last week, Alex hadn’t been doing anything about the plots, as they were all annoying things for now.
Most of them being related to the corruption in the academy and the injustice many people are suffering, not something Alex wanted to be bothered with because his moves, unlike the protagonists, would cause a stir greater than needed.

As for what the demon Lord had done and why he had done it was probably due to some trick that Keryu had pulled off. That guy was quite a schemer himself after all.
It was said that even after having his image damaged by having his son disqualified from the competition, the magnanimous demon lord had stepped forward to treat not just his son but the one who had fought against him as well.
“Is the demon lord turning a new leaf?”, “Is he trying to show that even people like him have some good in him?”, and many more such questions followed after that event.
“The demon lord is really not that bad,” is what normal people made out of that, but those who knew better didn’t think the same. “It’s probably just another scheme of that demon lord.”
What was really happening? No one really knew. But one thing was clear: the two guys, Keryu and Ben, were now fully healed, all thanks to the demon lord.
[Well, it’s not really some big scheme or anything, if I were to tell you, but yeah. He did do it with some ulterior motive, and it was because of Keryu’s instigation.]
‘Hmm,’ nodding to Sophie’s words, Alex continued on his path.
He didn’t really care about what the demon lord gained or what Keryu did. He wasn’t involved in any of this, so he would just stay out of it, unless and until he was finally pulled into all of that somehow—which he hoped to never see happening.
[By the way, how long are you going to avoid them?]
It was then that Sophie suddenly questioned, making Alex glance at a corner of a street. There were some people standing there, and although they looked like normal street vendors gathered there, talking about something, they were all high-level star formation realm experts.
‘I am thinking of delaying it until my birthday. Once it has crossed, I’ll wipe them out in one clean sweep.’ He answered her question, crunching down on the last part of the apple and passing through the group, but the group remained oblivious to his presence and kept looking around for something.
They were, of course, looking for him, but with him using his veil of darkness, much less seeing him, they couldn’t even feel him. If Alex wanted to, he could’ve easily killed them, but it wasn’t that simple, as the organization behind them would just send more.
And as he said to Sophie, he was going to take care of them after his birthday, which would be arriving in another week or so.
Right now, he had his focus on just one thing…
[Hm, I wonder what kind of date you’re going to give her with this many eyes trying to keep you in check.]
‘Hehe, just wait for it and you’ll see.’ Alex, listening to Sophie’s curious words, just chuckled as Zahara’s face flashed before his eyes, making him smile wider.
Yes, he was about to go on a date with her, and that was the only thing he was focused on.
