Chapter 56: Nadia Offering Herself!
“What the actual fuck is going on here?!”
The shrill, pissed-off voice cut through the tension like a knife. Every head whipped toward the door, where Nadia stood, her hair wild and her face a mix of fury and disgust.
The hulking knight’s yellow-toothed grin widened.
“Oh, well now, I didn’t know you had two beauties for me to enjoy, moron,” he sneered, glancing at Lui. “Not that I’m complaining.”
He licked his lips in a way that made Nadia want to gag. The slimy look in his eyes as they traveled down her body was enough to set her blood boiling.
‘You’ve got to be shitting me.’
But the moment her gaze landed on her mom—tears streaming, trembling like a leaf, and practically pinned between the table and the man—something inside Nadia snapped.
And her dad? That spineless asshole just stood there like a deer caught in headlights, letting this dirtbag ogle his wife like she was a damn appetizer.
“Release her! Now!”
Her scream rattled the walls, fueled by pure rage.
‘If Artis doesn’t fucking hear this, I swear to god, I’m throwing hands myself.’
“Oh, I can’t do that, baby…”
The man sneered, his grin as slimy as a sewer rat in a rainstorm.
“You see, this man—your fine father here—owes me twenty-eight silvers. Drank like a fish all night, swearing he had the coin at home. And when I suggested he might not, he told me I was free to take anything I fancied.”
He paused dramatically, smacking his lips like he was eyeing a five-course meal instead of a terrified woman. His gaze slid back to Juliana, and his tongue darted out to wet his crusty lips.
“So here I am, about to claim something delicious… something that’ll quench my lower hunger.”
Juliana physically recoiled, her whole body lurching like she might throw up right there. The sour stench of his breath slammed into her like a brick wall, and she jerked her head back instinctively.
But the bile in her throat wasn’t just from his disgusting words. No, the real sickness came from the man standing uselessly a few feet away—her husband.
The weak, spineless bastard who’d basically handed her over on a silver platter. And honestly? She couldn’t even muster much anger at the sweaty oaf in armor.
This wasn’t new.
Her husband had always been a pathetic excuse for a man. Why bother feeling anything for a man who’d sell his wife like a chicken at the market?
“Shut the fuck up, you nasty bastard!”
Nadia’s voice cracked like a whip, her words dripping with venom.
Her furious eyes shot to the intruder first, but then they swiveled like daggers to her own father, who was busy looking at the floor like it was the most fascinating thing in the room.
“My mother is not some object for you to slobber over, and she sure as hell isn’t something that can be fucking sold!”
Her glare could’ve set the house on fire, and for a split second, the hulking brute actually blinked.
It was fucking appalling. What kind of man sells his woman for booze? No man with a single ounce of balls, that’s for sure.
Unlike Juliana, who seemed more resigned than anything, Nadia was boiling with rage.
She had heard this same thing from Artis—about her father’s drinking problem and his scummy friends taking advantage of her mother—but seeing it?

Watching her own father stand there like a sack of shit while some greasy bastard pawed at her mom? That hit like a goddamn sledgehammer to the chest.
“Let my mother go.”
Nadia snapped, her voice sharp enough to cut glass.
“My husband is the personal guard of Young Master Jin. If he hears about this, you’ll be headless before your next drink, you slimy piece of shit.”
It was a desperate bluff, but she hoped it’d work. In this sect, no one dared cross the Patriarch or his brats, especially not someone like Jin, whose reputation for cruelty preceded him.
For a moment, the room stilled, and Nadia thought she saw a flicker of doubt cross the intruder’s ugly face.
But then the bastard threw his head back and laughed—a loud, obnoxious guffaw that showed every filthy, yellowed tooth in his disgusting mouth.
“Ha! Little lady isn’t just hot and succulent like her mother here,” he sneered, his eyes shamelessly crawling over her body like a cockroach, “but she’s a goddamn comedian, too!”
Nadia’s chest tightened, her heart pounding so hard it felt like it might burst. Her words weren’t working, and the bastard was just getting cockier by the second.
She balled her fists so hard her nails bit into her palms, resisting the urge to lunge at him and claw his stupid fucking face off.
But what would that do? Her father stood there useless, her mother looked ready to collapse, and she was running out of options.
‘Art…please, now’s the time for a perfect entry…but..but…what can he do? He’s just a kid himself without any cultivation.’
“You see this armor I’m wearing?”
The knight sneered, puffing out his chest like he was auditioning for a shitty play.
“This is the armor of the Sunset Kingdom. The same kingdom your little circus of a sect belongs to. Your Young Master Jin would probably hand me his mother if I asked. So how about we cut the crap, sweetheart? Let’s make this easy—I don’t want to hurt such a beautiful woman.”
The audacity of the man made Nadia’s blood boil. She could practically hear her sanity snapping one thread at a time.
She knew the weight of his words. The bastard was flaunting his power like a drunken peacock, and any move against him could bring disaster.
If he tattled to the Patriarch or the royal family, this entire sect could be wiped off the map faster than a cheap hooker on payday.
But fuck that. There was no way she was going to stand by and let this walking pile of garbage lay his filthy hands on her mom.
Her brain scrambled for a plan—any plan—and suddenly, one idiotic idea popped up like a drunk uncle at a family reunion.
Without overthinking it, she slapped a hand to her forehead and sighed dramatically.
“Sigh… So you’re not going to leave until you get your booze’s worth, huh?”
Her voice oozed fake resignation, and she tilted her head just enough for her hair to cascade down her shoulder like some seductive anime protagonist.
A coy smile tugged at her lips—plump, glossy lips that made the drunken knight stop mid-smirk and whistle like a horny construction worker.
“Now that’s the kind of attitude I like.”
He slurred, his eyes practically undressing her on the spot.
Nadia fought the urge to gag. She felt like she’d need a full-body bleach bath after this, but fuck it—desperate times called for desperate measures.
If she could play this bastard like the dumb horn-dog he was, maybe she could buy enough time for someone—anyone—to come save her and her mom.
