Chapter 479: Chapter 479: Refining Dark City, Anixegon Makes His Move
Gaka’s voice trembled, and even the Tree of Life shook violently.
“Ten Thousand Souls Bloodthirst Sovereign Technique?” John asked, puzzled. His curiosity peaked as he inquired, “What is this?”
Hum!
The Tree of Life swayed, its light flickering. A faint apparition emerged from it—it was Gaka’s Remnant Soul.
Having been dormant within the Tree of Life for so long, Gaka’s Spiritual Power had stabilized, allowing him to temporarily leave.
He descended into this world, furrowing his brow, a look of lingering fear on his face.
He had once been trapped within Dark City, and almost became one of its offerings.
Fortunately, as an Emperor-level powerhouse, his life force wasn’t depleted, and so he couldn’t be killed.
By the time he met John, he was at the brink of death, and it was only thanks to John’s help that he survived.
Gaka looked at John, gratitude written all over his face, before he explained, “This is an extremely evil cultivation technique. It requires countless powerful beings to be Devoured—absorbing their blood, flesh, and strength—to refine the entire city and transform it into a weapon.”
“Transform the city into a weapon?” John looked at the countless pipes crisscrossing the space and swallowed. He had never heard of such a bizarre ability before.
Curiously, he asked, “If it’s refined into a weapon, would this city be powerful?”
“Very powerful!” Gaka nodded, taking a deep breath to suppress the shock in his heart. “When the power of all souls is gathered, with endless resentment, the terrifying force could even kill The Heaven.”
He paused, then added, “From what I can see, Celestial Vault has already begun planning to escape this Realm of Chaos.”
He looked at the Mountain of Corpses and Sea of Blood ahead, with all the resentment lingering in the air, the complex network of pipes, and the entire Dark City, which seemed to have been nearly fully refined.
“Kill The Heaven?”
John furrowed his brows. He didn’t know just how strong The Heaven truly was, but considering even Emperor-level beings feared it, it was definitely not comparable to the Creator God he had killed in the Initial World.
“Senior, does this have anything to do with Skybroke?” He thought about how Celestial Vault and Anixegon had repeatedly mentioned Skybroke and asked curiously.
“No.” Gaka thought for a moment before denying it. “I know Skybroke. That guy isn’t this insane. Besides, his cultivation method focuses on using his body to replenish the path, and in the end, he can become part of The Heaven. If he tried something like this, The Heaven wouldn’t tolerate it. Even the Emperor Thunder Tribulation wouldn’t be able to stop it, and he would undoubtedly die. To cultivate such a demonic technique, one must have a way to avoid the Emperor Thunder Tribulation.”
He paused for a moment, then continued, “Looking at it now, it seems Celestial Vault already has the strength of an Emperor.”
He recalled the immense power of Celestial Vault and realized that this might be the means by which it had avoided the Thunder Tribulation. Celestial Vault had become an Emperor without undergoing the tribulation, but its aura had remained concealed.
“Senior, does Anixegon also have the ability to avoid the Emperor Thunder Tribulation? Or could it be that he’s cultivated such an evil technique as well?” John thought about Anixegon from the Church of Light, whose power was terrifying—perhaps even greater than Celestial Vault’s.
And he hadn’t gone through the Emperor Thunder Tribulation either.
Gaka shook his head, “That guy is different. He’s a lackey of the Creator God and is under its protection, so he can naturally avoid the tribulation.”
“He can do that?” John couldn’t help but be amazed.
It seemed that aligning oneself with the Creator God and gaining its protection was the path most strong beings chose, but it came with the cost of becoming mere tools, serving the will of the Creator God.
Yet their paths were completely different. They were exiled to the Realm of Chaos, where survival and cultivation were difficult.
Moreover, when they broke through to the Emperor realm, the Thunder Tribulation would descend, bringing even greater danger.
John had a feeling that it was the Creator God intentionally suppressing their growth.
Or perhaps the Creator God was simply afraid of them—if they grew too strong, they could become a threat to the Creator God.

“Senior, what should we do about this place? Is there a way to destroy it?” John asked, feeling increasingly uncomfortable in the surrounding malevolent aura.
Celestial Vault had already fallen into Anixegon’s hands, and its fate was uncertain.
If Anixegon found out that he had the ability to avoid the Thunder Tribulation, he would definitely try to seize this place. If the city was refined by him, their situation would become even more perilous.
“Destroy it? Why would we destroy it?” Gaka’s gaze swept across the endless piles of corpses and the vast sea of blood. His eyes gleamed with interest.
Though the place exuded an overwhelming sense of evil, he couldn’t deny that it was a tremendously powerful and terrifying weapon.
He spoke, “This Dark City is only one step away from being fully refined. It’s perfect for you.”
John was taken aback and quickly shook his head. “Senior, please don’t joke like that. I don’t want to bear such karmic consequences, and I’m not able to avoid the Thunder Tribulation. I could never carry out such a brutal act.”
“Look at you, so weak-hearted.” Gaka shot him a disdainful glance. “These killings are all caused by Celestial Vault, not by you. Besides, I can help you bear the karmic burden of refining Dark City.”
“You?” John frowned. This weapon was undeniably powerful, but he didn’t want to drag Gaka into it.
He continued, “Don’t worry, I’m doing this willingly. Right now, I’m just grateful to be alive, let alone thinking about increasing my strength. Besides, I have high hopes for you. If you become a Creator God, you’ll be able to help me avoid the Thunder Tribulation.”
Hearing John’s words, Gaka’s expression softened.
The Ten Thousand Souls Bloodthirst Sovereign Technique had nearly been completed. With refinement, the city could be made into a powerful weapon without needing to accumulate further killing intent.
“Kid, there’s one thing I need to remind you about,” Gaka said seriously, his gaze firm. “If you refine Dark City, it should only be used as a trump card. If you use it to kill your enemies, the karmic retribution for those killings will fall on you. Only use it in situations where you face enemies you cannot defeat, or when your life is truly in danger.”
“Alright.” John agreed decisively. He had no intention of using such an evil weapon.
However, this thing was far too dangerous. The only way he could feel at ease was if it were in his control.
“Senior, how do I refine it?” he asked curiously.
Gaka glanced at the shattered entrance of the cave and said, “That’s the core of the Dark City. You need to insert those pipes into yourself, and I’ll help you.”
The two left the current location and returned to the cave.
John looked at the pipes, still feeling some resistance in his heart.
He began to pull each pipe from Celestial Vault’s avatar.
“Senior, is this Celestial Vault’s avatar created from Skybroke’s body?” John asked, looking at the avatar in his hands.
Gaka examined the avatar and answered, “No. Skybroke’s body was already used to supplement The Heaven and has disappeared. This is a puppet technique unique to Dark City, but it is much more powerful.”
He had no interest in the avatar. It bore Celestial Vault’s Soul Mark, and only Celestial Vault could control it. He casually tossed it aside and urged, “Stop dawdling. Refine Dark City quickly, or it might be too late.”
John gritted his teeth and connected the pipes to his own body.
Gaka moved forward and inserted one of the pipes into his own soul-body. He needed to absorb the residual killing intent to prevent it from affecting John.
“Senior, are you sure this won’t be dangerous for you?” John asked, still somewhat concerned.
“Don’t worry. I know what I’m doing. It’s been hard enough staying alive—I won’t throw that away. Hurry up and begin,” Gaka responded confidently, growing impatient.
John nodded, no longer saying anything. He closed his eyes and began absorbing the power surging from the pipes.
Gaka also absorbed the karmic retribution and killing intent through one of the pipes.
In an instant, his soul turned as black as ink, dark and malevolent.
He only slightly furrowed his brows, but immediately focused his mind and effortlessly suppressed the evil energy.
Since he was only a soul-body, this killing intent wouldn’t affect him.
If he ever formed a physical body again, as long as he didn’t continue cultivating or breaking through, there would be no danger.
The entire Dark City, under the baptism of the Ten Thousand Souls Bloodthirst Sovereign Technique, had already reached a critical point and could be refined at any time.
But Celestial Vault was too greedy, wanting to grow even stronger. Gaka had believed Anixegon’s deceitful words. In this collaboration, Celestial Vault had demanded the bodies of all the strong beings, and in the end, he had been betrayed—his fate uncertain.
As time passed, powerful forces continuously flowed into John’s body through the pipes.
…
Meanwhile, Anixegon and Void Emperor had arrived at a vast, snow-covered mountain range.
Endless cold winds howled as the two stopped in front of a towering snow mountain.
VoidEmperor still looked uneasy and spoke up, “My lord, are you sure you can deal with the Overlord?”
He felt an instinctual fear toward the Overlord, one that seemed to stem from the very depths of his soul.
“What’s there to be afraid of?” Anixegon said dismissively, his voice cold. “He’s already had half of his body destroyed by the Nine-Headed Lion and is barely able to recover. And after taking another blow from the Nine-Headed Lion, the Golden Wheel of Laws is shattered, and his World-in-Hand is broken. He’s already gravely injured and on the verge of death. His strength is almost gone. Open it up now.”
He was completely confident and impatient, urging VoidEmperor.
VoidEmperor swallowed hard, not daring to disobey. He took out a token, and the power of laws surged, opening a portal that led to the Overlord’s former World-in-Hand.
He stepped back, lowering his head respectfully, not daring to enter first.
“Hmph, look at you, so timid,” Anixegon sneered, disgust clear on his face. If it weren’t for the fact that VoidEmperor had some use, he would have killed him long ago.
Without a hint of fear, Anixegon flashed forward and entered the portal, summoning the Dark-Light Mirror as he did so.
He knew that the Overlord was severely wounded, but he wasn’t foolish enough to let his guard down.
VoidEmperor followed closely behind, entering the portal as well.
Voom!
A wave of spatial power surged.
The two arrived in the Overlord’s World-in-Hand.
At this point, the space was a ruin. There was no vitality left, only endless spatial turbulence swirling, with broken continents floating about.
“Heh… you actually caught up so quickly,” a weak voice sounded.
The Overlord’s figure appeared. Now, he was barely more than half of a body, bloodied and gruesome, a terrifying sight.
He wasn’t at all surprised by Anixegon’s arrival.
His remaining eye coldly locked onto VoidEmperor, and his bare bones glimmered with a fierce, murderous light. Through gritted teeth, he sneered, “VoidEmperor, you’ve done well! You think that by siding with Anixegon, you’ll be able to save yourself? I predict your end will be far worse!”
VoidEmperor gulped, his gaze avoiding the Overlord’s, too terrified to meet his eye.
