Chapter 162: Level up!
With a thought, he released the bind.
The serpents lurched forward the moment their bodies were freed, their slit-pupiled eyes burning with desperation. Their coiled muscles tensed—injured, but still dangerous.
Arthur didn’t move.
Instead, he turned his head slightly.
“Sylvaris.”
A single command.
Sylvaris struck instantly.
The enormous serpent darted forward, his thick body snapping like a whip. His fangs flashed, sinking deep into the closest serpent’s throat. A low, guttural hiss filled the air as poison flooded its bloodstream.
The second serpent lunged toward Sylvaris’s side—its body a blur of motion as it coiled and struck, fangs glistening with lethal venom, aimed straight for Sylvaris’s exposed side—
But Sylvaris was faster.
His tail snapped out like a whip, striking with the force of a falling boulder. The impact was instant. Bone cracked, and the serpent’s body was hurled backward, crashing into a thick tree trunk with a sickening crack.
The tree shuddered violently from the force, its ancient bark splintering. Leaves rained down in a chaotic flurry, disturbed by the sheer brutality of the collision.
The serpent’s body twitched once. Twice. Then went still.
The third Serpent was more injured than the other two, was trying to slither away, but Sylvaris did not give it a chance, and killed it.
A familiar chime resonated in Arthur’s mind.

After checking his status, Arthur’s gaze moved to the very rare items scattered across in front of him.
Three more very rare items gleamed, adding to the seven already dropped from the previous kills.
After picking up the very rare items and storing them, Arthur knelt, and extracted the fangs from the fallen serpents quickly.
Beside him, Sylvaris waited until Arthur extracted the fangs before he devoured the lifeless bodies whole his fangs ripping through flesh effortlessly.
Arthur checked on the status of the evolution and it increased.

Arthur exhaled through his nose, watching as Sylvaris swallowed the last corpse.
They were one step closer to Sylvaris’s evolution.
But the hunt was far from over.
Arthur rose to his feet, scanning the jungle ahead.
A smirk tugged at his lips.
“Let’s keep going.”
The hunt had only just begun.
…
The summoner and summon spent the rest of the day farming relentlessly.
Arthur cut down monsters, feeding Chaos their blood through Blood Drain, slowly fueling the blade’s restoration. Meanwhile, Sylvaris devoured every serpent they found, his venom growing thicker, darker, more potent with every meal.
Arthur encountered more than just serpents. Wandering through Blackwater Hollow, he ran into corroded beasts, their flesh warped by demonic influence.
Each one fell beneath Chaos’s sharp edge or Sylvaris’s lethal venom. Their blood, their bodies, became fuel for Arthur’s growing power.
After three hours, Arthur finally stopped, exhaling as he glanced around. The pond was silent. The jungle eerily still.
Sylvaris finished devouring the last serpent, its lifeless body vanishing into the abyss of his maw.
Arthur checked his inventory, his fingers tapping against the air. The glowing display of his gathered loot appeared before him.
[Poisonous Painted Serpent Fangs x54]
It was enough to complete the mission, but—
His gaze shifted to Sylvaris, the massive serpent coiled beside him, his golden eyes gleaming in the dim light.
The evolution wasn’t finished.

Arthur clicked his tongue. Still not enough.
They had hunted relentlessly, but the serpents were no longer appearing. Either they had migrated deeper into the Hollow, or they had been wiped out in this area. His reasoning, leaning more towards the latter.
Arthur ran a hand through his hair, sighing. “Damn. I wanted to finish this today.”
Sylvaris hissed softly, his tail flicking against the dirt. He, too, seemed restless—hungry for the power his evolution promised.
Arthur shook his head. “No choice. We’ll find more another day.”
His eyes landed on the latest notification he had received.
[Ding!]
[You have levelled up to Level 14.]
[All attribute points will be increased by +1.]
[You have gained 1 Free Attribute Point and 1 Skill Point.]
Arthur’s smirk returned. “Two levels, huh? Not bad.”
Though Blackwater Hollow was a dangerous place, and he was still at the bottom of the food chain, his progress had skyrocketed.
Unlike the village, where strong monsters were scarce, the city’s outskirts were a farming ground for him, high level monsters were everywhere.
The stronger the prey, the faster he grew.
He opened his status window, taking a moment to distribute his newly earned attribute points.
He needed to keep scaling up, adapting to the increasing difficulty of enemies he would soon face.
And more than anything—
He needed to get stronger, faster.
