Only Wisdom Awakened - Chapter 101
Chapter 101: Expected Visitor
One day later…
“Good morning” greeted Hans, walking into the dean’s office.
“Good morning” replied the woman, who seemed strangely in a good mood.
“Has anything good happened?” Asked Hans, seeing the corner of the dean’s lips turn up.
“Is it that obvious?” she asked.
“Pretty much…
“Well, yes, something extremely good happened”
For her to be describing it as ‘extremely good…
Hans was really looking forward to what he was about to hear.
“You know that arrogant guy from yesterday?”
“Mh”
Nodded Hans.
“I beat him up real good last night and the stress I had accumulated during the last few months was completely washed off.”
She smiled brightly, more than Hans had ever seen her do.
“Ha… Ha-ha, I see”
He felt pity for that poor guy, he was a complete 4sshole, but being beaten by a top S rank awakened must’ve been truly hellish.
“Is he still alive?”
Asked Hans slightly worried about what would happen now.
“I think he is”
“Well, that’s better than nothing, I guess we at least won’t have to face heavy legal actions other than his master”
After all, even for awakened, killing people was against the law.
Just because someone holds enough power to do something doesn’t mean that they can do it, there are always consequences.
Ever since ancient times, it has been the role of the strong to protect those that are weak, and not abuse their powers.
Obviously, those with more power and intelligence have generally always been able to enjoy a greater life than others, but they are still bound by rules, that is what keeps them human even after obtaining incredible powers, making them different from a beast.
But some awakened, especially those higher up in the ranks, use their influence to hide misdeeds, Hans had already gotten a perfect example when discovering Logan’s actions and refused to be part of such people.
“Why have you called me here then? Do you perhaps need the scales back?”
The woman’s mouth was opened, and she was about to reply when a sudden force interrupted her.
An incredibly thick and dangerous mana reached the room, causing both of them to turn around abruptly.
“It seems like the reply didn’t come from my mouth”
Said the dean, shocked by the energy.

“Is he…
“Yeah, could you accompany me to meet him?”
Hans hesitated a second before agreeing.
On their way to the edge of the forest, where the energy had emanated from, Hans was surprised to see that all the students and teachers they saw were completely unaware of the situation.
‘What is this? Can they not sense this ominous and oppressing mana?
They are truly lucky.’
Walking down one of the paved stone paths, he couldn’t help but reflect on what was about to happen.
‘I am currently about to meet a human legend, he’s a peak seventh-tier mage, meaning even if he specializes in barriers, he could still probably stand on par with the dean who’s a top S-rank.
Did she bring me with her to tip the situation in her favor?
No.
Even if my wisdom is incomparable to hers I’m sure she sensed it…
It’s not only ‘him’ waiting for us, there are about seven of them…
And every single one Is above A-rank.
If we want something to compare it to, that would probably be the same power as one of the American states.
Did they come here to start a war or something?’
“Hey, Hans”
“Yeah? What is it?”
“I’m sure you already know who’s waiting for us a bit forward”
“Yes, I’ve got a rough idea”
“Let me tell you this, even if he asks for the scales do not be intimidated, I’ll make sure to stand up for you, so in case he wants to conduct an unfair trade for you you mustn’t accept it.”
“Alright, thank you, Dean”
“Also, I wanted to ask you something.
How did you do it?
How did you break that seventh-tier barrier yesterday?
I know it’s personal information, but knowing it could change the outcome of this meeting.”
“I saw its weak point”
Replied Hans truthfully.
“What?!”
Remained shocked by the dean.
“It’s literally how I said it, I saw its weak point because I was observing from the very start, so I’ve had almost thirty seconds of time, other than that, it was a spell imbued in an item, making the item itself limit the incredible barrier’s power.
To make things even worse for us now, I’ve heard that Lars has long reached the peak of tier-7, while the barrier I broke was barely classifiable as such, he probably made it quite a while ago.
You asked me because you want to know if I can get us out of trouble in case something happens right?”
The dean nodded at the question.
“I’m sorry, but I don’t think I’ll be able to.
I don’t know how much it will take for me to analyze it in case he casts a barrier in person, and I’m even more scared of the others interfering while I try to break it.
Do not count on me too much, I am not strong enough to take someone like him head-on.”
Even after hearing what should’ve been bad news, the dean smiled and continued walking.
“Of course…”
She said.
“… if you had such powers I wouldn’t even trouble myself with this and let you handle it.”
“Alright then, let’s not get our hopes dragged down because of this mana, I’ll be able to handle Lars if it comes down to it, but you will have to take care of the others, or at least stall for time”
“Alright” replied Hans.
Even if he had the same expression as always painted on his face, Hans was actually quite nervous, the person he was about to meet was the second or third strongest in the list of his acquaintances, standing behind only Elijah, and probably having similar powers to Elijah’s niece and Hephaestus.
There was one difference though, that person wanted something he owned and seemed pretty set on obtaining it.
He just hoped everything would’ve gone for the better.
But his hope was unfortunately not satisfied…
As they approached the area where the visitor was, the mana that was being continuously released finally ceased.
A voice spoke to them, it was authoritative, heavy, and scary.
The absolute silence in the place, disturbed only by the whistling of the wind between the leaves, did nothing but amplify even more its characteristics.
“So you’re finally here”
“I see that you’ve brought a little friend, Mh… he’s not that bad I’ll give you that, for him to reach the sixth circle at such a young age”
‘This man… he can bypass my stealth’
Thought Hans, hearing the opponent call out his current level.
However, in the face of such a threatening existence the dean didn’t lose any ground, and immediately countered:
“He’s an assistant of mine, got any problem with that? Also, he’ll be a very crucial point of today’s conversation.
More than that…
Do you have any intention of showing your face instead of remaining hidden in the trees like a monkey?”
“Hahaha” laughed the man, appearing from behind one of the trees.
“Old wench, did you just call me a monkey?”
“But of course not, I was just pointing out that you’re too dignified to act like that”
Replied the woman with a devious smile on her face.
“That better be the case”
“Let us get to the point now alright?
why have you come here?” she asked.
The dean released her aura making the seven people hiding in the nearby trees rethink the decision of accompanying their boss there.
Contrary to the others, both Hans and Lars easily withstood the pressure without flinching.
“It is me who should be asking questions here, isn’t it?
I had given my disciple a barrier and sent him here to take care of my business.
But just yesterday, I discovered that the barrier I cast had been broken, and the location where it was done is here.
Do not try to walk your way out of this, I’m sure the barrier wouldn’t have broken if it was something like a light spar or a friendly match.
I know only one person from here to hundreds of kilometers away that could be capable of doing that.
Now talk!
What have you done to him?!”
“I haven’t killed him don’t worry, though I’m sure you wouldn’t mind me teaching him a lesson.
Well, I’m happy you came, he promised me the two of you would work together to cast a pseudo-eight-tier barrier around the Academy”
“You damn woman!”
Screamed Lars.
{rainbow barrier}
‘To reveal such crucial information… did she torture him?
You’ll pay for what you’ve done!’
The barrier wasn’t deployed but completely created around them, leaving Hans and Ava no time to get out.
Once they were trapped inside, Lars gave the order to the hidden awakened.
“Go! Find my disciple and bring him back here.
Based on his condition…
Furiously watching the dean in her eyes, he finished his threat:
…I will decide whether you’ll get to live or not”
