Only Wisdom Awakened - Chapter 103
Chapter 103: Coordinated attack
Two incredible people were facing off right before Hans’ eyes at the moment.
On one side, was a marketing genius, who managed to utilize his powers inside a company to rise to his current position.
On the other side, was a woman who had also grown her power politically other than physically by clearing the gates, attaining her extraordinary status as the Los Angeles Association branch leader.
The status windows of both of them gave Hans important pieces of information regarding classes and ranks.
First of all, the fact that the dean’s level was higher than three hundred while her rank was still S, meant that from that tier on the upgrade wouldn’t be every fifty levels but more.
That also explains one of the questions always asked in chats among normal people:
“Isn’t the growth of awakened slowing down?”
“That’s what I thought too! Have they perhaps reached their limits?”
“Mh, probably, I mean, just take a look at the statistics, it has been five years since the first breakthrough into the S-rank, and yet there are only a few who managed to upgrade once again.”
“Well, the first one to break through the S-rank was Elijah, he’s on a completely different level compared to the others, for what we know he may have already broken through an even higher level than the SS-rank!”
“What would the next level even be called?”
“Uhh… I dunno man, something like SSS maybe.
I mean, they won’t probably go out of the way to make a new ranking system.”
“Yeah I think so too, but you never know”
“Haha, well I guess you’re right! With the world crazy as it is these days everything is possible”
The issue wasn’t with the limit of the awakened, but rather with the prolonging of the levels needed to rank up, it was also a well-known fact that the higher the level of the awakened the more difficult leveling up would get, so those two factors coupled together caused the stall of most of the awakened at the S-rank.
For people with normal classes, who had overall lower stats than rare, epic, and any other type of class, meaning that they were forced to hunt lower-level monsters, after taking a step into S-rank, it was difficult to level up even only once a month, not to talk about the fact that they needed a hundred levels to rank up once again, even if it was fifty levels it would’ve taken them more than four years.
The second piece of information obtained by scanning the two status windows was the special trait of the unique classes:
He had already witnessed it when observing Caleb’s status, but the stats of a unique class were clearly superior to their levels, and there was probably a reason for that…
While Caleb had the skill: {bottomless training} that allowed him to train without limitations, Lans had the skill: {rainbow barrier} that when observed carefully, held a similarity to the other.
{rainbow barrier (passive) & (active)
-Active:
Description: you will be able to deploy a {rainbow barrier}, it can take on any form, and depending on how it is developed it may even withstand an attack from a higher-ranking opponent.
Effect: absorbs mana from the atmosphere to create a solid permanent shield.
-Passive:
Description you can modify the spell {rainbow battier}, to adapt it to any situation.
All the knowledge poured into the barrier forming will have to be obtained by the user.
For every improvement made to the barrier, you will receive a certain amount of wisdom stat.
(the skill is unique, and can only be possessed by one person at a time)}
It was truly an incredible skill and the fact that both the unique class holders he had met had a skill that allowed them to raise their stats without leveling, probably wasn’t a coincidence.

He had now finally completed the scale of class ranks, that he couldn’t wrap his head around for all this time.
If his hypothesis was right, they were ranked like this:
Common- 2 stat per level
Rare- 3 stat per level
Epic- 4 stat per level
Legendary- 6 stat per level.
Other than those, the unique class was like a jolly: it probably gave little stat at every level, but allowed its users to increase them greatly without having to kill monsters and level up.
There could also be another class between epic and legendary since the stat difference between every level was two instead of one, but he couldn’t be sure.
‘Wait! If a unique class can only be held by one person at a time… how is it possible for his disciple to have the same class?
Maybe-‘
His reasoning was interrupted when a heavy metal axe swung towards his head from his side.
Swiftly jumping back, Hans managed to avoid it before it could even graze his hair.
Raising his head, Hans saw the attacker:
One of the seven men accompanying Lans.
Just beside him, the other four remained there looking at Hans while smiling.
“Look like we got the easy one”
“Pfftt, haha I can’t believe the leader and the vice have to fight with that monster”
“I know right? That’s the first time I’ve seen an aura sword, I doubted they even existed before seeing it with my own eyes”
The sound signaling the beginning of the clash resounded through the forest.
“Seems like they started already”
“Do you hear how fierce they are?! If someone didn’t know anything they would think a war is being fought on the other side of these trees.
“Anyway, let’s quickly finish here and go help out over there” said the man who had first attacked Hans with his axe.
“Got it”
“Alright”
“Yes”
“Let me start first”
A slim woman dashed forward, holding her sword in front, ready to pierce Hans’ body.
It was a really stupid move, that left many opportunities for the opponent to counter, but thinking of going against a mage, as Lans had said, she just attacked mindlessly.
Hans decided to take a different approach to this fight, he crouched before punching the woman in the side as strongly as he could, causing her to fly to the side, hitting and bringing down a tree.
‘What?!’
The happy and relaxed faces of the four awakened remaining in front of him changed, as they prepared for a serious fight.
“Hey! Wasn’t this bastard a mage?”
“That’s what I thought too”
“Master must’ve made a slight mistake”
“It’s all right, you all follow my tempo, Jenn isn’t dead so we just need to take care of this kid,” said the same man, taking the lead once again.
The replies came back from his companions, who took a battle stance, ready to initiate the attack on Hans.
The man held his axe with both hands, while the one right beside him unsheathed his sword.
The woman on his right took out a spear while the old man in the back held his hands in the pockets of his jacket, probably readying to throw some daggers at Hans.
The first to act was the man, who had been identified as the leader of the now four remaining attackers.
He sprinted, lowering his body and swinging his axe horizontally to cut Hans’s legs off.
However, Hans jumped avoiding the first attack, right behind the man was hiding the woman, who thrust her spear forward, trying to blow Hans’s head off.
However, even the second attack was avoided by Hans, who slightly tilted his head sideways to avoid it.
But then, as he prepared to land back on the ground and retreat, the third attack surprisingly threatened his safety.
A sword swung right At the height of his chest, quickly closing onto his heart.
But before Hans could even figure out how to dodge it, a fourth attack followed.
Three small but razor-sharp daggers flew toward him, barely visible admits all that chaos.
Seeing their attack work, and their opponent worried, they couldn’t help but smile, their combination assault had worked…
or so they thought.
At the last moment, while Hans was still in the air and all four of the attackers had left their guards down, he used a spell that had never been deployed in actual battle.
{wind blade}(tier-5)
A blade of wind and mana was launched at an incredible speed from Hans’s hands.
As it flew, the sound of the air around it refracting could be heard.
Usually, a tier-five spell could damage the body of an A-rank awakened pretty badly, but a top tier-6 or even a tier-seven would be required to kill one in a single shot.
However, Hans’s pure mana, grouped with his incredible sheer mana quantity, and his mana control allowing him to precisely aim for the opponent’s neck, broke this common sense.
Without even leaving him time to think, the blade of wind slashed the old man’s throat, passing right through it before continuing its path behind the fallen corpse.
