Only Wisdom Awakened - Chapter 104
Chapter 104: Familiar sight
The blood splashed on the grass, painting it crimson red, as the lifeless beheaded body fell backward.
The pale faces of the three remaining conscious attackers watched the carcass of their companion, abandoned on top of the ground.
This moment of insecurity gave Hans a chance to escape by creating a {mana barrier} and letting the force of impact send him flying away from the three melee fighters.
The leader especially looked petrified.
‘He… died?
Died? Did he die? What?! There’s no way! No way right?! How did he die?! How is it possible?! How?! How?! How?!
We are a special force, it has been more than one year since our creation, and in this single year, we have defeated many powerful opponents, ranging from rich and famous awakened, to secluded and devoted magicians.
We have more than once crossed paths with sixth-tier mages, and have killed a handful of them, but how is it possible for us to be losing so badly?
Something’s not right here…
There is no way a sixth-tier mage can cast a spell like that!
He has to be a higher-ranked mage, is he perhaps tier-7?
At that age? Has the world gone nuts?! A seemingly twenty-year-old kid with the power to bring a state to his feet?’
The mental states of the others also weren’t great, terrorized after seeing their ally’s head fly off, and knowing that theirs could be next, their legs didn’t move, and their brains couldn’t think.
That was all it took for the battle to end since the rest of the fight was simply finished by using fire spells.
When the four people were captured and had all fainted, Hans made his way towards the sounds of the fight, with the weight of an additional dead soul onto his shoulder.
Even while getting close, the sound of the clashing could be heard, and a big cloud of dust was raised a couple of times.
As he approached the battle, he barely managed to catch a glimpse of the dean in between the thick trees.
She didn’t seem to be injured, but her breath was clearly heavy and forced.
It was also noticeable that her sword aura was now waving, unable to maintain a solid form.
“Not so good now, are you?”
Said arrogantly a man, whose voice was clearly recognizable to Hans.
And yet, even while he was speaking like that, the one fighting at the front wasn’t him, but two other men.
Their attacks were quick and precise, always aiming for the dean’s weak points and vital spots.
It was clear that they had been thoroughly trained to kill.
If he didn’t have the skill: {mystic insight} he might’ve even doubted that their ranks were only A.
Instead, he would’ve probably thought they belonged to the S-rank.
The situation didn’t look so alarming for the woman, and Lans seemed to have let his guard down against any other possible attackers, thinking that Hans would’ve been taken care of by the rest of the group, so instead of jumping into the fight like an idiot, Hans cast {stealth}(tier-3) on himself, before hiding behind the bushes to observe the fight.
Almost three minutes passed, and small scratches started appearing on the Dean’s figure, first a couple of cuts on her clothes, but they would’ve soon been able to reach her skin.
Hans had to do something quickly since the situation wasn’t as good as he thought at the start.
First of all, the dean’s power diminished by the second, and other than that, in three minutes of fighting he had observed, there wasn’t a single attack delivered by her.

It’s not that she didn’t hit her target, but that she completely focused on defense, not even trying to fight back.
She wasn’t stupid, and Hans was aware of it, so the fact that she was putting herself in a disadvantageous position could only mean that something was forcing her to.
Some red lines of leaked blood started appearing on the woman’s arms and sides, and Hans was getting ready to intervene, because, even if he would’ve had to figure out the opponent’s weak spot by fighting against him directly, it would’ve still been better than losing a valuable ally for the incoming battle.
But before he could even step out of the bushes, a strong energy started gathering towards the dean’s beautiful sword, now almost faded.
Holding her hand down beside her, she decided to give it her all… a single slash that would’ve killed both the people assaulting her at the moment.
As for Lans, she would’ve figured out how to deal with him later.
The blade around her hand shone even brighter than at the start, becoming even bigger than it was when she first manifested it a couple of minutes ago.
She slashed horizontally, and an incredibly fierce aura was launched from her sword.
When it met with both opponents, it stopped, pressing and facing off against the barrier that was cast around their bodies.
A couple of seconds of extremely blinding light passed before the clash ended.
‘Is this truly… All I can do?
Fuck this shit, I won’t die here to these roaches.
But even then… I’ve already unleashed my most powerful attack, and yet it wasn’t even able to reach them.’
The two men appeared from the dust created by the clash, and their bodies were completely unharmed.
‘I managed to smash his shield, but I don’t have any energy left.
Should I try to run away?
No, that’s not something I’ll be able to do in my current state, and even if I somehow managed to, they would go after Hans and the Academy.
In that case…
The incoming attack of one of the two men was barely evaded, scratching her side, but she took the opportunity to turn around and snatch away the sword that just attacked her.
She then passed it to her right hand and stepped forward.
A blue and terrifying aura appeared from the blade, as she threatened her opponents keeping her sword high, pointed right at Lans’s face.
He smiled at the sight of her.
“You’re not using your sword aura anymore?
Now it’s a little bit even, isn’t it?
Finish her off”
“Yes sir”
Their determination was stopped by the rage and pride-filled phrase that soon came from the dean’s mouth.
“Be it an eye or a limb, I’m prepared to lose everything I have, but I will assure you this…
None of you will leave this place alive”
Even if she was now like a cornered animal, hearing that someone more powerful than you is ready to give up their life to end yours truly wasn’t encouraging.
The two men faltered for a second, scared of approaching the woman, who held a killer’s gaze in her red eyes, especially now that their shields were destroyed.
In the meantime, Hans had understood what was happening.
The two warriors had been protected by Lans’s barrier from the very beginning.
The reason why the dean wasn’t attacking was because she knew it would’ve been too much of an expense of her energy to try and take down the shields.
Seeing that Lans wasn’t moving at all, probably because he had cast a protective barrier right under his feet, the dean planned to lead the two awakened outside of his operating field and take them out without having to worry about the barriers.
In the end, her plan didn’t go through, probably because of the incessant and precise attacks of the two, and she was forced to empty her energy reserves just to briefly break those shields.
As she saw Lans casting another shield on them, she felt like all her effort would’ve gone to waste if she didn’t act fast enough.
She bent her legs and got ready to sprint forward, but before even managing to take the first step, someone else preceded her.
“That’s right, none of you will leave this place alive”
Said the voice of a boy coming from behind Lans.
Worried, the blonde man hurriedly turned around, just in time to see Hans’s face.
Hans held a hand high and started casting a spell towards him.
Scared, Lans immediately stopped creating a new barrier for his two henchmen and activated the barrier beneath him.
‘Two… one…
Huff… I got it up in time, the barriers that woman broke earlier were moving, but there’s no way this stable one would be broken, even if an SS-rank came here he would find it difficult, I truly look forward to what he’ll do now…
A second, just a second.
That was the time it took Lans to realize the error he had made.
The two spells cast by Hand in the meantime :
{wind blade}
{wind blade}
Passed right bedside his barrier, heading directly for the neck of the two awakened that were previously attacking the dean.
The scene was familiar, the desperate stares of his companions, the fall of his body, and…
The detaching of his head.
Truly a familiar sight.
That was the end that met one of the two ruthless awakened.
