Only Wisdom Awakened - Chapter 126
Chapter 126: Sea of flames
“Aaaahhhhh!!!!”
The young man’s scream was so loud it even caught the monster by surprise, it was caused by the surreal pain he was experiencing at the moment.
His mind was overloaded by the mana he was controlling, and yet, even if unconscious, Hans still knew what he had to do.
Hearing the scream, Caleb turned around, causing him distraction and letting one of the monster’s attacks pass through his defense.
He was smashed to the ground, while the dean just beside him was once again asking the wrong question at the wrong moment.
“Hey! What the hell is happening to the kid?”
He yelled to Caleb, who couldn’t do anything apart from stare at Hans asking himself the same thing.
“How could I possibly know?”
“Aren’t you his colleague? Haven’t you ever fought together with him? I heard that during the attack on the American Academy, it was the two of you who faced off against the intruder!
Has he ever done something like this? Is this perhaps his final move? Or is he just dying?”
“This… I… don’t know”
That was all he could say because after all, it was the truth:
He knew nothing about Hans, he had never seen him fight. He had never heard about his fighting style, he hadn’t even seen him cast a single spell.
But judging from the level of the students taught by him, Caleb had a good impression of Hans.
‘He was fighting this monster alone while we were hurrying here, does that mean he’s at least a seventh-rank mage? It shouldn’t be! when I searched about him online, he was registered as a fifth-tier.
Thinking about it, when I lost consciousness back at the academy, I was sure the condition of my opponent was optimal, he had just taken a drug to enhance his strength, meaning that for a short duration, he was more powerful than ever.
Wasting such power by retreating would be a foolish choice.
If I am right, after defeating me, he proceeded toward the group of students with the intent to kill them, there, someone stopped him.
And that someone… has to be Hans.’
Before another reply could come back from Caleb, the ground shook violently, as if the earth itself had begun to cry.
Hans’ blood-covered eyes couldn’t distinguish between the identity of the people in front of him, but his keen mana perception could tell which one of the three was the target.
Unconscious, his body continued the attack.
Seeing the ground beneath their feet crack, both Caleb and the dean reacted quickly, jumping back away from the demon.
While the creature instead, just stood in the middle of the crumbling surface, fearless of what was about to happen.
The ground shook even more violently before a giant fissure opened in it, and at the bottom of the dark tunnel created, a shining light could be seen.
It was coming closer… and closer… and closer.
The light was rising quickly from the depths of the planet, as if the demons locked inside hell had been freed, and were rising once again to the world of the living.
The heat in the air had become so high that it almost felt as if one could touch it with their hand, and among the little beads of sweat created on their forehead, the two men’s brains were trying to understand what was going on at the moment.
“Pant… pant… pant..”
“Pant..pant..pant”

In just a few seconds, the temperature had skyrocketed to a level at which even high-ranked awakened fatigued to breathe.
Barely hanging on to their lives, the two helpers backed down as fast as they could, not ever leaving their backs open to the enemy, they were retreating while walking backward.
In the vicinity of the broken ground, remained only Hans and the monster, one on the side of the fissure, and one on the other.
It almost resembled a challenge between the two.
The monster, arrogant and fearless, didn’t know the strength of nature.
From the moment it was born, a few minutes earlier, never had it come across something nearly strong enough to take its life.
It felt invincible.
It all happened in an instant:
“Swoosh”
The fuming magma rose into the sky forming a column.
It was almost a hundred meters in height, and because of that enormous size, both the two men who had already retreated and the observers from far away immediately turned around.
The pillar of fire that rose to the sky was anything but a common occurrence.
After it touched the sky, it fell like a bomb, showering the monster.
The mana barrier cast by the beast wasn’t enough to keep it safe, but it realized it only after witnessing the mana being melted by the lava.
The magma, even if still liquid, remained all around the beats, and didn’t just fall to the ground.
That was thanks to Hans’s magic, which enveloped it and restricted the lava movements.
Inside the sea of red and heat, the monster, now defenseless, couldn’t do anything but try to walk right through, with his exoskeleton melting and regenerating multiple times every second.
Eight seconds was the time it took the monster to make its way out of the magma.
And Hans’s mind, already unconscious for a few minutes, had now reached its limit.
As soon as the monster emerged from the lava, the sea that was held up by Hans’ mana fell to the ground, slowly flowing once again into the fissure.
The lava was now at the level of the monster’s feet, and that abomination was still standing.
“Tap… tap… Ta-”
Not even taking three steps towards Hans, the monster collapsed on the ground lifeless, and its body was burned to ashes by the remaining lava on the floor.
On the other side of the fissure, Hans had also fallen to his knees, but whilst one of them had reached the end of their living, the other only needed some rest.
Rushing to the battleground after the heat had subsided, Kaleb and the dean watched the result astonished.
‘What the hell? That kid-
“Did it…. You did it! Hahaha, you fricking did it!”
Inside the giant crater formed by the fight, which had swallowed up a fourth of the Japanese Academy, resounded Kaleb’s hearty laugh, full of relief and excitement.
Soon after, all the others came, and Hans’s students gathered around him to check his condition.
In the meantime, the Japanese teachers gathered around the dean to question the situation, and his tired mind couldn’t handle any more stress so he told Saku to send them all away, and she began screaming to disperse the people who had gathered.
The rest of the students all had different reactions, some from America admired the lava and had fun watching the bottom of the fissure…
“Damn dude, look at how deep this shi is…
“Fr man, I bet a drone view would go crazy down there”
“You’ right man”
…while some Japanese students cried for the building lost in the clash.
“Waaaaa…we will miss you homemade sushi market”
“That’s right… sniff… sniff… I will light up a candle every now and then for your amazing dishes”
Hans’s departure, which should’ve been the day later, was postponed until he regained consciousness, and a letter was sent to the American dean to reassure her that both Hans and Kaleb were safe.
She didn’t completely trust the letter, but she couldn’t just cause a fuss because she felt like something was off.
The first thing ordered by the Japanese Academy dean was secrecy, everybody had to keep their mouth shut so that the press couldn’t spread news of the Academy’s dangers.
And so they did…
Three days later, Hans woke up, and the first things he saw in front of him were incredibly familiar.
A white ceiling…. And a status window.
“What… happened?”
“Ugh”
Images of the battle flashed in his mind, but nothing was clear.
The only thing he could comprehend at the moment were the words written in the floating window.
Various notifications were floating in front of his eyes, and he started reading them from the first one.
[congratulations! You have gained the following skill:
{telekinesis}(tier-7)]
‘Telekinesis? Oh… that’s right, I remember, the magma wasn’t budging so I enveloped it with mana before lifting it.
I guess that does count as telekinesis.
Then… can I use it now?’
Hans saw a basket of fruit left on a little table beside his bed and decided to try and pick up an apple.
He released his mana in the atmosphere, but as soon as he tried to spread it around the apple his mind ached.
‘Agh!’ he touched his head with both hands trying to stop the aching.
‘I guess, I gotta give my mind some time to recover, after all, I fought with that beast’
He thought while the images of the disgusting demon crossed his mind.
‘But… what is this’
“You have leveled up!”
“You have leveled up!”
“You have leveled up!”
….
‘Since when does killing humans….
Allow people to level up?’
