On a stone wall, a video of a battle was being projected.

The battle was won by one of the two opponents, who had recalled a pillar of lava from the earth to melt the body of the other.

A devious smile appeared on the lips of the bald man as soon as his master said those words.

In his office, the Japanese academy’s dean was working as usual, when something turned around his boring day.

Rushing, Saki barged into the room.

Before he could even finish his question, she was already screaming at him.

She said panicking.

“Care to explain?”

Said the dean worried after seeing the serious expression on her face.

“The video, the video of you and the Americans fighting your cousin are everywhere!”

“Wh-what?”

The dean’s face paled when gearing this.

“How could it be? All the CCTV in the area were destroyed by the fight, and who would dare steal data from the Academy? It would be the same as messing with the association.”

“It wasn’t taken from the cameras, but from a drone.”

“What? For god’s sake, we have a damn seventh-tier barrier around this place! What kind of drone can film through it?

“We have checked the footage, and the drone was seen flying inside the barrier, it was silenced and covered in a layer of {stealth} enchantment, that’s why none of us noticed it.”

“Fuck! Do you know what this means?!”

Ashamed of herself, and worried about what would happen now, she looked down, before replying:

“Yes sir”

Not only did the fact that there had been a drone inside their barrier meant that someone had managed to find a way to sneak it in, but the fact that the video was released publicly implied that what they most hoped to keep secret would now have to be released to the public.

In a futile last attempt to block this incoming tsunami of disaster, the dean ordered to take it down, but no matter how many times they tried to silence the matter, people reposted it again and again, making the situation impossible to control.

Hans had already landed in America when this happened, and while returning to Chicago, he received a call from the dean.

“Hans! Are you ok?”

“Mh? Yes, why wouldn’t I be? Didn’t they inform you of my return? I am currently heading home, I’ll just pack a few things before starting my training for the gate raid”

“That’s not the problem Hans! You still haven’t seen it right?”

The call was closed, and Hans opened the chat with the dean to understand what she was talking about.

There, he found a link to a video, and he opened it.

About thirty minutes later, the driver stopped the car in front of his house, and Hans got down.

He thanked the man and picked up his luggage before walking toward his front door.

There, on the walkway, he was stopped by a female student who looked no older than sixteen.

“Mh… excuse me..”

Hans turned around curiously, seeing a face he was not familiar with.

“Yes, how can I help you”

“Is-is this perhaps you?”

She asked pointing at her telephone which was playing with the video of Hans fighting against the monster.

“Yes, why do you ask”

Replied Hans quite embarrassed.

“Ah!” she clearly looked happy to hear that.

“Could I take a picture? My brother said he really wanted to become like you, so I’m sure he’ll be super envious if I show it to him”

Hans awkwardly smiled at her, asking himself:

‘Are you for real? It’s barely been a few hours’

“Yeah sure”

Hans took a picture with her, and she thanked him before running off excitedly.

But that was a huge mistake by Hans.

Because in only a couple of hours, everyone knew that he was back in Chicago.

Before doing anything else, Hans went to visit his family.

The worn door handle, the sad room, and their lifeless bodies, it was exactly the same as always, but this time, Hans had it in mind…

The picture of them waking up wasn’t an unrealistic fantasy anymore, he knew it was possible, and he was close to achieving it.

Before anything else, the first thing he did was apologize to his dad.

He sat beside his resting bed and began speaking to him in a low tone, almost whispering, after all, the silence there was so deep that even his breath could be heard.

“Hey Dad, I’m sorry I couldn’t pass by for the last few months.

You must’ve felt really lonely…

He would’ve liked to say to him how he almost died, how scared he was, he wanted to tell him he didn’t know what to do, he wanted to ask him why he was given this power, and what he should have done with it.

Because dumping his worries on his father who couldn’t resolve any of them would’ve just made him worried.
