Only Wisdom Awakened - Chapter 137
Chapter 137: Venturing
The shot fire breath violently razed the monsters’ corpses to the ground, and the air pressure caused by the spell’s speed tore open a fissure in the blizzard.
An immeasurable amount of fire mana was released into the surroundings, quickly melting the snow that had been deposited on the ground over the past few months.
Where was once veiled by a beautiful white coat, had now become a barren field without a single strand of grass.
The mark left by the attack dug into the ground leaving every single one of the viewers astonished.
In the operation room…
‘What….
The f*ck.
A single spell annihilated the entire group of Yetis and not a normal one at that.
The group responsible for the massacre of the first expedition team.
They had followed them for various days, attacking day and night, letting the awakened get no rest whatsoever, before finally finishing off the exhausted leader.
When I saw the monsters charging toward the camp, I feared they would face the same end as the first visitors, or that they would at least be weakened greatly because of them.
I had forgotten to take something into consideration though….
Power, and not some kind of abstract or unknown power like friendship or teamwork, but just sheer, raw, power.
A power that can raze everything it meets to the ground, one that can’t be stopped or contained no matter how hard one tries to.
That is the power that young man possesses.
I had already seen him use his spells but I never would have thought he could accomplish something like this.
He truly is…
A monster way beyond common sense.’
And it wasn’t only him who was thinking that way.
Everyone on the team was watching the screen in disbelief.
Even the dean, who had really high expectations for him, could not believe her eyes.
The entire team, just like the rest of the world, was left shocked.
The chats of the live streams went crazy over what he had done too.
And when about two hours later the sun began lighting up the place, the people who had just connected to the live stream couldn’t understand the reason for the other’s excitement.
[chickenbreast_19: imagine waking up and finding that mark just beside your camp!]
[aikon: haha, I bet it’ll scare the shit out of them]
[anakin: what happened?]
[gingua: the fact that the snow couldn’t cover the hole in two hours makes it even more shocking]
[ooja: I think it’s because the fire mana has been attached to the ground since the attack, melting the snow as soon as it touched it]
[gingham: oh, I see, thank you]

[anakin: could anyone tell me what I missed please]
[chicken breast_19: dude, don’t you watch the night streams? You should stay up for occasions like this]
[anakin: I was too tired and fell asleep watching the stream last night, can anyone give me an update]
[puff: you shoulda stayed awake man, this boy done just wiped out an entire Yeti invasion with one spell]
[anakin: what?! What spell did he use, was it a fire-type spell?]
[spidey: Yeah, it was insane dude, they melted so fast that it looked like they disappeared.]
[anakin: god dammit, I should’ve stayed awake… I can’t believe I lost such a moment just to sleep]
[hahah…]
[Lololol….]
[khekeh…]
After having witnessed such a thing they were sure of it…
Hans had become a seventh-tier mage.
Well, that is what they thought anyway, even if he was actually stuck at the top of the sixth, unable to step forward any further.
When the sun had just completely risen in the sky, most guilds and international associations were already trying to dig up anything they could find to bring Hans to their side.
In the hospital room, his father could hear a reporter commenting on his son’s spells, talking about how astonishingly strong and majestic they were.
It made him proud, but also fearful.
He feared that because of all of this power and fame, the moment he got out of that annoying situation of his, his son would have already changed too far for him to be the same person he once knew.
A thought like that would have scared any parent.
While the whole world was in chaos, talking about Hans’s heroic actions, the other raid team members had just woken up and were readying themselves to face another incredibly difficult and long day.
The day in Greenland lasted twenty hours in August, making their rest time last the remaining four hours of the night.
Other than the fact that none of them apart from Caleb had any excitement about fighting monsters all day, the cold didn’t help at all, since the hot and cozy sleeping bags they had brought with them offered them way more comfort.
But even with much difficulty, they all managed to get up on their feet and eat a small breakfast in less than thirty minutes.
They then started walking again, they didn’t even notice the mark in the ground that had reshaped the terrain.
To be fair, it’s not that they didn’t see it, it’s that they couldn’t see it.
The snowstorm was unusually fierce and strong that day, lowering their visibility by a lot.
They couldn’t even see sixty meters ahead of them, so the signs of Hans’ battle remained covered by the raging blizzard.
To avoid creating any mental worries for the raid members, the operation team decided to avoid telling them what had happened that night, and the expedition continued as planned.
They walked all day, fighting when necessary, and then put down the tent in a newly decided camp.
They continued that way for days without exception, and four nights later, they had finally arrived at their first destination.
Even if one would assume that after five days they would’ve been more tired than ever, making them slower, that wasn’t completely true.
Sure, they were really tired, that was a fact, but what mattered the most was their experience, and not the one that allowed every one of them to level up at least twice, but battle experience.
They had been fighting with the same monsters for almost a week, and their senses were now sharper than ever.
The body structure, the habits, the way of fighting… they knew everything about yetis, to the point where foretelling their movements had become easy even for the weakest of the group, who could now not only hold up against the attacks of the monsters but also fight back.
Everyone was exhausted, but their improvements could be seen clearly, and they knew that they still had a lot waiting for them.
In the biggest tent, a meeting in which everyone had to attend was being held.
Speaking was Caleb, the leader.
“Tomorrow, we will be entering the innermost area.
Make the necessary preparations, and rest well, this is the reason why we stopped walking early in the afternoon and set up a cam here, even though the sun is still high up.
You have to rest well, I want all of you in the best condition for tomorrow.
“Yes!”
“Alright, we all know the plan, but I will revise it one last time to avoid any misunderstanding…
Tomorrow morning we wake up four hours after the sun rises, and then we begin walking towards the middle.
The giant tortoises move in the early morning, four hours after sunrise, and then around midnight.
Since the sun goes up at around four o’clock this means we have about sixteen hours before they move again.
In sixteen hours, we need to cross the second region completely, and then pass the night right at the entrance of the middle.
Keep this in mind, however, there is a chance we might not find a place to rest for the night, and it could lead to a couple of days of fighting without resting.
Also, Hans will finally join us, making things a bit easier and less stressful.”
The faces of the members changed from worried to relieved when reminded of this.
They had all admired Hans’s powers when seeing the video of him fighting against that demon in the Japanese academy, but seeing him holding back all this time, they feared he might’ve never intervened in normal situations.
They didn’t know he had a deal with the dean, in which he promised her to not help if not necessary since the whole world would’ve mistaken the academy as weak if he did all the job by himself.
But that only counted as long as the whole world was watching them, so from the moment they entered the innermost part…
He was free to do what he wanted to do.
“I will also eat and get some rest now, I hope you will sleep well, since a long day, or maybe two, will be waiting for you as soon as you wake up.”
“Goodnight”
“Goodnight”
“Goodnight”
One by one, the people got back to their resting places, but the anxiety and tension from knowing what they would face the following day kept all of them awake.
Well… all apart from Hans, since he slept as soon as his head touched the pillow.
