Only Wisdom Awakened - Chapter 145
Chapter 145: Plain of darkness
The remaining mana in the skeleton’s body turned into nothingness, just like its bones, burned to dust by Hans’s {purgatory’s flames}
Hans fell to the ground, almost completely out of energy.
[you have killed the gate’s boss!]
[you have leveled up!]
[you have leveled up!]
[you have…
‘I do not know what a monster like this was doing here, nor do I know anything about what he was saying.
But something’s for sure…
Seeing the system describing him as weakened, had I met him at his peak, or slightly less weakened, he would have taken my life away as easily as blowing on a dandelion.’
After the battle ended, Hans took a second to reflect upon what he had found out about his powers.
He felt a certain sense of familiarity with the skeleton’s authority, but he also knew it was something completely different.
“Is what I possess… truly what I wished for?
Is this really… the power of a god?”
…
[congratulations!
You have discerned the origin of your powers, a path that was once blocked is being opened]
‘For real?!’
Hans felt the barrier that separated him from the seventh tier thinning, and his mana started overflowing.
He immediately got down on the ground, sitting in a lotus position to facilitate the smooth flow of his mana.
He tried once again to do what he had failed at many times before…
He gathered the overflowing mana toward his heart, attempting to create the last circle that would’ve allowed him to break through the classification, and reach the status of a high-ranking mage.
That time, the process went so smoothly that just twenty minutes later, his circle had already been solidified.
As he created the seventh circle, however, Hans felt a change in the mana around his earth.
It had become dark like a night sky without any stars.
He wanted to inspect what had happened to it, but the gate would’ve closed shortly after, and he had no intention of remaining trapped inside that hellish place.
He rushed down the mountain, finding the gate before passing through it, and finding out that the wind wall surrounding the gate’s entrance had disappeared.
He didn’t even watch the system’s notifications screen, since the only thing he had to do at that moment was to tell his team, and then the world, that he had done it.
He hurried back to the camp, where Caleb and Lily were anxiously waiting for him to return.
Caleb saw through Hans’ injuries as soon as he spotted him and lifted his shirt to observe the scar left behind by the ice spear that had pierced his body.
Caleb then brought him inside a tent where he rested for the whole day, waking up at night when everyone had already fallen asleep.

A little paper was left beside his sleeping bag, which told him:
“Tomorrow morning we will send another message, and we will then begin the travel to the way back.
Or at least that’s what Caleb said…
Lily”
‘Alright then, it seems like I will finally return outside, I am pretty tired of this cold’
Hans acted like everything had been solved, but it was the exact opposite, finding out that his powers were those of a god did not satisfy him at all, he had no idea that gods were even a thing, nor did he know which kind of god gifted him something like that.
The only thing he could find out at the moment was that dark mana enveloping his heart.
He sat down in a lotus position and began analyzing it.
When he could not feel anything different with his senses, he decided to feed some mana to his heart, and it worked…
As if he had been transported to another world, he suddenly found himself standing on his two feet.
He opened his eyes, but he could barely see anything…
That place was dark and mysterious, but most importantly…
Many figures were around him, so many that he could not see all of them.
They were all completely covered by a veil of darkness, and they stood about two meters away from one another.
‘Where am I?
What’s this? ‘
That dark place was anything but familiar to Hans.
It was so incredibly absurd to think that he casually happened to be there, that his first thought was…
“Am I… Dead?”
‘No… I can still see my hands, they are not covered by the dark veil.
But then… what is happening?’
Hans questioned himself, but he could not find an answer.
And so, not knowing what to do, he walked towards the only irregularity he could spot in the distance.
The only source of light, which allowed him to see even in that pitch-black environment.
Hans walked all the way to it, and to his surprise, he found out that emitting the light was a silhouette.
it looked just like the others, but instead of being enveloped in darkness, it was enveloped in light.
Curious, Hans touched the figure, and he immediately found himself in yet another place.
The surroundings were the exact same…
The dark sky, the veil of darkness that covered whatever he was standing on, and most of all, the feeling of emptiness.
This time, however, there wasn’t anyone surrounding him.
He was alone, in that endless plain of darkness.
Or so he thought.
His body emitted a certain amount of light, allowing him to see a bit in all directions.
His sense of measurement was pretty messed up inside there, so he had no clue how far he was actually seeing.
‘What do I do now?’
Thought Hans, seeing that this time, no anomalies were present.
But just as he began thinking about how to get out, someone appeared, entering his field of view.
His body was still pretty dark since he was quite distant, but as he came closer, Hans could observe his body traits.
He had pale skin and snow-white hair.
His blue eyes and his face’s sharp features gave off a feeling of royalty.
It was the first time Hans saw such a beautiful and handsome man.
He looked… pure.
Hans couldn’t recognize this person, but not the same could be said about his robe which
was incredibly familiar, Hans just couldn’t recall where he had seen it.
It took him a few seconds, but he finally remembered.
That robe… it belonged to…
“The skeleton?”
Said Hans in shock.
“It is quite rude of you to call me that, I have been human once, you know?”
“I just… didn’t think you would look like that.
I have only seen you when you were a skeleton”
“This… forget it”
The man seemed to be ashamed of being a skeleton.
“Do you have an idea about where we are?”
“I do not”
Replied the man.
“But I have a feeling that… everything I am asked for I am obliged to give, I cannot lie.
See, I wouldn’t have told you this normally.
Hans watched the man amazed.
‘Can I… Ask anything I want?
Does that mean that… all those questions without an answer will be finally given one?’
His lips couldn’t help but curve up.
“Well then… Mr.. Caelan was it?”
“How do you know my name?”
“I can tell… I can tell as soon as I look at someone”
The man seemed to be shocked by hearing this.
‘A power that looks into someone’s soul..’
He thought.
“Now, would you mind telling me why you attacked me?”
“I thought you were one of her servants…
every single one of them…
deserves to die!”
“Who is ‘her’?”
“I do not know much, but she, is part of something bigger, they are many, and they assault, destroy, and put worlds on flames and fire.”
“Then… is that what happened to your world?”
“Yes, our world was protected by the goddess of winter, until she began the attack.”
“Are you also a servant of the winter goddess?”
Hearing this question, the man lowered his gaze, ashamed of himself and his act.
“I… was”
“What happened to you?”
“I think… it would be better to show you”
Said the man, coming close to Hans and taking his wrist.
“What are you doing?”
“I don’t know, I just feel like I can”
The man touched Hans’s forehead with his, and Hans was thrown for the third time in another place.
‘Brrr…’
It was cold, and the raging blizzard didn’t spare any warmth.
Hans was standing on the snow, which was conveniently not crumbling under his feet, as if he didn’t weigh anything.
Just a few meters in front of him, a little child coated in white fur was using all his strength to walk forward without being taken away by the currents.
‘A child… in a place like this?’
“Hey, what are you doing here?”
Hans crouched to take him up in his arms, but to his surprise, his arms passed right through the kid’s body, and even through the snow.
‘What?
I can’t touch him?
Am I something like a ghost?’
At that moment, the kid turned around, showing his white hair and his blue eyes.
And Hans finally understood what was happening.
‘This is…
his memories…’
