Only Wisdom Awakened - Chapter 152
Chapter 152: Caelan
‘Yes, it’s exactly how you said’
‘Ha… haha… you realize what you’re saying is absurd right?’
‘I do, but why would I lie to you?
I think those things you described are Pankus, and they have grown by absorbing the sacred mana mixed in the snow.’
‘Let’s pretend that what you said is true.
What would happen to them now?’
‘They are known for being lazy and hungry, so once they’ve tasted something like divine mana they will probably crave more.
They could go mad, or maybe they could just continue living as they’ve been doing all this time, just going around in circles to free their backs from the snow and then waiting for more snow to fall on them’
‘And why do they not consume snow in my world while in yours that was all they did?’
‘Uh… maybe it’s because they just consume the mana inside the snow, and while the snow around the temple and down the mountain was always made out of mana, here the snow just absorbed some of the mana from the atmosphere.’
‘It’s crazy how your theory is making more and more sense the more we go on speaking’
Silence accompanied Hans’s exclamation, and seeing that no one replied, Hans figured Caelan had returned to the realm of the dead.
‘The realm of the dead…. Is that what that plain of darkness is?
If so… then were all those people inside there the representation of souls?
So much to think about and just a few answers, this is really annoying’
Hans continued pondering about the essence of his newly acquired powers as the expedition team crossed the dangerous innermost area.
He repeatedly tried to analyze the tortoises when they happened to pass by one, but apparently, the shell did not count as the beast’s body, and all that came up when analyzing it was:
[rare item: Panku’s shell.
Description: the shell of a Panku tortoise, it’s sturdy and has a special ability.
Effects: can absorb the mana infused in the snow, transforming it into its owner’s nutrition.]
‘Well, at least now I know these really are Pankus.
I don’t know however if I should or shouldn’t worry about them.
If it’s as Caelan said, they could migrate as soon as the supply of food here becomes scarce, and that would pose a huge threat to every city around here.
Do I… Have to kill them all?
…
Nah… it’ll all be fine… I hope’
The blizzard was stronger than ever, it seemed like the night was just about to arrive, and they had yet to reach their destination.
But after more than seventeen hours of relentlessly walking, they entered the outer blizzard area.
“Finally”
“Ahh… thank god, I couldn’t take it anymore”

“My legs were about to give up”
They were all happy to return outside the innermost area.
‘Finally… my mana is as smooth as ever’
Thought Hans, feeling the mana flowing easily through his body.
Inside the innermost area, the blizzard contained some divine power of the winter goddess, which made it difficult for him to mobilize his mana.
It was not only the slightly warmer climate waiting for them but also a couple of drones, that were playing live all over the world.
On many live-streaming apps and televisions, tens of millions of people from all over the world were watching the return of the expedition team.
The members smiled at the cameras and waved at the people.
Everyone apart from Hans.
He had something more troublesome to think about.
“Prepare for battle!!”
He yelled at all his mates, some of them were already lying on the ground, relaxing right in the face of the danger that was about to come.
“Hans! What is happening?!”
Asked Caleb worried.
“They are coming!”
“Who?”
“Bzzz-bzzz- do you- bzz- do you hear me?”
The earbuds everyone had in their ears started working again, and the familiar voice of the dean alerted them of what was happening.
“Bzz- they are coming for you- bzz-”
“What?! Who is coming?!”
“Bzz- the- bzz, bzz- the yetis are coming”
“What?”
“Rumble….”
…..
The ground began violently shaking, as a cloud of snow in the distance was making its way towards them.
The members remained shocked seeing it coming, and after a few seconds, they noticed something else.
“It-it’s the yetis’ exclaimed the archery teacher, whose eyes were better than all the others.
Well, apart from Hans.
A bead of sweat formed on Caleb’s forehead.
His fear manifested in a loud gulp.
His team members were exhausted, and he could not take all those yetis by himself.
“G-get up! Everyone get up!!
We will charge and break through the middle!”
“You just need to shield yourself, I will think about advancing forward”
‘No! It’s not going to work!’
Thought Hans.
His senses could detect thousands of yetis and multiple leaders, not only Caleb would not be able to break through, but the others also would not have been able to follow behind him.
‘I need to do something… But what?!’
‘My dragon’s breath is an AOE spell, however, its radius it’s still too little for all these yetis.
The purgatory’s flames consume way too much mana.
I would not be able to burn that horde even if I had ten times the amount of wisdom I have now’
‘What…. What can I do?!’
‘I have trained in various paths for adaptability, and yet I do not have any options right now!
There has to be! I know there is one!
I need to find a solution’
Fire magic, wind magic, ice magic… Hans went over all the dozens of spells he could use at the moment, and yet none of them could save them at that moment.
Even combining various spells would be way too risky, and unstable, not to talk about the fact that there wasn’t a precise spell he had in mind.
There were only three solutions he came up with:
The first was to use his wind path spell: {repulsion} to throw his mates over the horde of yetis before flying to them with telekinesis.
But he didn’t know whether he had enough mana to use that many repulsions and then maintain his telekinesis to fly.
Also, the yetis could just follow him while he flew, so it wasn’t really plausible.
The second option was to use his earth path spells to dig down in the ground and hide with everyone else.
The only flaw was that it would’ve taken a lot of time to get back up, and with so many yetis above them, the fresh ground could’ve crumbled leaving them buried under the yetis.
The third option was to go back inside the innermost area, leaving the yetis behind, but with the risk of being squashed as soon as the tortoises began moving.
Of those three options, the third seemed the one with the most chance of survival, but even that was not safe.
He had to think about something else, and he had to do it fast.
Hans needed more time to think, and the only way he could gain it was by choosing the third option.
“Caleb!”
He yelled before the team leader could start leading the members to their deaths.
“Go back inside the innermost part, the yetis will stay out”
“And what about the tortoises?! Do we have any chances of making it out of there alive?”
“I will figure something out! Just get everyone inside the innermost area.
Trust me”
Doubtful, Caleb decided to trust Hans and lead everyone inside the innermost zone once again.
“What?! It seems like the team has made the decision to retreat inside the deeper blizzards”
Commented a guy who was hosting one of the live streams.
“But they are just running away, the yetis will find them before the sunset if it continues like this.”
Contrary to his expectations, something happened, saving the expedition team.
“W-w-what?! The yetis.… have stopped”
Everyone watching the scene was wondering why the yetis did not dare to step a single foot inside those thick blizzards, and they thought the expedition team had been graced by the world.
But the truth was different.
Right at the entrance of the innermost part, the expedition team gathered.
Their hopes were low, and their fatigue had accumulated throughout the whole day.
“Hans, do you have a plan?”
“I am thinking right now, could you tell me how much time we have approximately before the turtles start moving?”
Replying to him was Lily:
“About thirty minutes”
‘Thirty minutes? Fuck! I don’t know!
I need more time!
I need more power!
I need so many things that I do not possess.
‘Passing by those yetis is close to impossible, and that leaves me with only one choice:
Slaughter.
To do that, however, I need a new spell, something that has enough power to turn those beastly monsters into carcasses in just a few seconds.
I do not know how to make something like that.
Wait…
I do know someone who can make something like that.
…
Isn’t that right?…
Caelan’
