Chapter 153: Finding what you’re searching for
‘Isn’t that right?…
Caelan?’
Strangely, this time no mana was absorbed by the power around Hans’s heart.
‘Was the question I made not clear enough for him to answer me?
Then, how about this:
“How can I learn a high-tier ice spell in a few minutes?”
Still no reply…
‘Does he not have the ability to help me?
Or maybe I need to learn directly from his memories.
Since my powers seem to work even after leaving the plain, maybe I can return there once again.’
Hans sat down in a lotus position and began feeding mana to the strange power.
“What are you doing Hans?! There is no time for this!”
Yelled Caleb.
“Do not worry, there is something I need to do, I will come back quickly”
“Uh? Come back quickly? Where the hell are you going?”
“Don’t worry about that, rest and recover as much energy as you can, because if I don’t manage to do what I want to do then we will have to try and get on the back of one of the tortoises, I’m sure it won’t be nice to do it without any energy left in your body.”
“On the back of those monsters?!
Have you gone crazy?”
“Do you have a better idea?”
Hans’s words were enough to shut Caleb and all the other team members up, leaving him time to meditate peacefully.
Hans’s powers went rampant once again, taking away most of his mana, but bringing him where he wanted to go.
A dark, lonely, and familiar place he had visited just a few hours earlier.
‘ I am back here…. The plain of darkness.’
However, he could not find what he had hoped to, since this time there was no light guiding him towards Caelan.
‘Where am I? There is no light… no path to follow.
How am I supposed to find Caelan here?’
Not knowing where to go, Hans walked in a random direction, hoping he would be able to see the light in the distance just as he did the first time meeting Caelan.
However, the only light he saw was the one emitted by his body, which lit up a bit, allowing him to see a couple of meters in all directions.
The figures veiled in black were just as they were the first time he had gone there, but something about them seemed off to Hans.
He had no time to waste on things like that though, so he began running, hoping to speed up the process of finding Caelan.

He ran past hundreds of silhouettes, but none of them was any different than the others in Hans’s eyes.
When he was beginning to lose hope, he saw a light in the distance, finally… He had found him.
Hans ran as fast as he could toward the light because he lacked both mana and time.
It seemed like the more he stayed inside that plain, the more his mama was drained, and he still needed to learn and cast a high-ranking spell if he wanted to make it out of that blizzard alive, so wasting mana was the only thing he could not afford to do.
He was closing on to the light, but it felt strange.
That light was not as bright as the one he felt last time, it was more feeble, just like an old light bulb about to go out.
Hans was about to touch that figure when he noticed the difference.
It wasn’t only the amount of light, but also the tonality, it felt… different.
Hans could only come to one conclusion:
That… was not Calean.
It was someone else, and even if he was dying to know what would’ve happened if he touched them, he did not have the luxury to spend so much time in that place.
He began running again, this time in a different direction, hoping to find Caelan relying on his luck.
But even a few minutes later, he still hadn’t found any results, he had come across many who emitted light, but it was always too feeble to be even slightly similar to Caelans’s.
‘Faster…. I need to go faster!
The people waiting for me outside are relying on me to bring them out of there, and I do not want to leave them to die.
Caleb and I could probably escape alone, but I’m sure he wouldn’t leave behind any of the other teachers, and I also do not want to do that.
To solve everything, to get all of us back safely, I just need to go….
Faster?’
Hans watched beneath his feet, he was not running anymore, he was… flying.
His body, even if just a few centimeters above the floor on which the silhouettes were standing, was flying at an incredible speed.
‘That’s right! This is not a place that obeys the laws of physics or anything else.
This is something beyond that.
Even if these powers are not mine, they have chosen me as their host,
which means….
That I….
Am the one in control!’
Hans thought about Caleb just as much as he hoped to run faster, and when he opened his eyes, the familiar golden light he had first seen when entering the plain was right in front of him.
It enveloped a figure he could recognize even if almost identical to all the others.
‘I can feel it… this is Caelan’
Hans touched the silhouette, and just as it happened the first time, he was thrown into another plain.
And exactly like the previous time, there wasn’t anyone there until…
“Uh… no! I can’t believe it!
How is it?.. That it is you again!!
Aghhh!!! Just let me rest in peace! I have already died, goddess please take me with you!”
“Ha… haha… I’m sorry, I would need a favor.”
“Why do you even bother asking when you know I can’t argue?”
“I don’t know, I feel kind of bad when I ask you for help”
“Of course you should feel bad!”
“Do you dig up your people’s graves just to get their clothes? No!
It’s the same thing! Do not wake up a dead soul just to ask them their secrets!”
“Well… I kind of don’t have a choice so I’m sure you won’t feel bad for helping out a poor soul like me, after all, you need a bit of good karma don’t you?”
“What?!”
“So will you help me?”
“Of course no-
Problem.
God dammit this stupid place!
It’s just messing with me!”
“Nice, thank you for your helping hand.”
“Whatever, make it quick, I want to rest”
“Sure.
You see, right now I’m in the middle of the blizzards and some yetis are waiting for me right outside.
Since food is running low, I need a way to get me and all my companions out of there”
“So?”
“What do you mean so? Teach me a spell I can use to exterminate the yetis”
“What do you mean? Just go out there and kill them with your fire.
Aren’t you a dual-type wind and fire mage?
What would you need an ice spell for?”
“They’re too many.
Also… Dual type?”
Asked Hans confused
“Yeah, you possess magic belonging to both the path of fire and the path of wind, so you should be a dual-element mage.
Why? Am I wrong”
“Mhh… yes”
“Uh?! What’s with that tone? I clearly saw you using your holy flames and your wind spell.”
“Ah, of course, but I can also use other elements”
“Wha- really?”
“Yeah, I am a seventh-tier fire mage, a sixth-tier wind and ice mage, a fifth-tier gravity, water, earth, and light mage, and also a fourth…
Hearing Hans talk, Caelan remained frozen in his place.
Never in his life had he heard about someone possessing so many elements.
The problem does not dwell in having an affinity with all elements, since as a gifted mage, he himself had an affinity with at least five elements, but other than ice, they were all so difficult to raise that he could not bring them beyond the second tier.
Even when battling for the goddess, he had only met opponents who used a maximum of three elements.
It was such an incredibly rare phenomenon for someone such as Hans to be able to wield all of them at a high level.
“Well, even if you can use ice element spells I can not provide you with any help.
The spells I have learned are the best of the best, they are manuscripts passed down in our family, and it takes years to master a single one of these spells.
Of course, it was different for me, but I’m an exception.
Also, to wield these spells your ice element affinity and your body endurance to cold temperatures have to be extremely high, there isn’t a single chance of you learning it, and even if you managed to do it, it would take years at least.
Hans was pretty confident in his learning capacities, but if someone who had become a high-ranking mage at the age of twelve told him it was like that, he could not argue.
“I do not have a spell to annihilate them but…
I could tell you a way to bypass them without being noticed’
