Only Wisdom Awakened - Chapter 157
Chapter 157: Extermination
‘Hey! Tell your hot-headed kid to get back to his place before he gets killed!”
Yelled the dean to TeamOne’s guild leader.
“Malik, get back! Don’t approach any of the leaders”
Said Sivert, talking through his earbud, but the fool did not hear a single word of his, even taking the communication device out of his ear and throwing it away.
“Fuck! What is he doing?!”
Asked Pilu Kleist, the official who was usually tasked with keeping the yetis at bay whenever they ventured out of the blizzard.
“That idiot is going to get his ass killed, someone has to stop him!”
“Do not expect any help from us, that dumbass should’ve thought thrice before doing something like this, now the consequences are all his to handle.
If I were you I would also just let him perish, he brings nothing but chaos and conflict to the team, and he barely provides any assistance.”
“I’m sorry but I won’t be able to do that, even if he is not the most friendly person on this planet, he cares about Greenland just as much as I do.
It will take a few seconds or maybe a minute to save him, so I will be back soon.
Would it be possible for you to take over my load in the meantime?”
“No! I will just do what I was assigned to do, if you want to leave the responsibility to me then I expect you to take on more of them as soon as you return.”
“Fine then! I will leave now!”
“Aaaahhh!”
A scream was heard throughout the whole plain, even by the few awakened who were elsewhere.
“What’s happening?”
They questioned through the devices.
And replying to them truthfully was Pilu, who said:
“Shit! Malik got caught!”
“Already?!” asked Sivert, who was hurrying towards them as fast as possible.
“Yes, he will get killed if it continues like this…
Do I have permission to attack a leader?”
A quick decision was made by their guild leader, who replied almost immediately, giving his permission to step in even against a yeti leader.
“Don’t try to kill it, I’ll be there in a few seconds, just make sure to hold it.”
Even if he was not a speed type awakened, he had a pretty balanced status window, and being S-class, his speed was more than decent, however even with that kind of movement, it took about thirty seconds to cross the plain and reach the place where his subordinates were fighting for their lives…
One of the giant yeti leaders held Malik with one hand, slamming him around left and right.
Even if the terrain was completely covered in a thick layer of snow, that still brought great injuries and internal bleeding to his body.
He was on the verge of death, and the yeti was ready to swallow him whole, at that moment Pilu stepped in, slashing the yeti’s arm with his great sword and releasing its grip onto his mate’s unconscious body.
“Tch! It didn’t pierce”

Pilu had almost never found himself face-to-face against a leader, since the yetis who escaped from the blizzards were mostly smaller groups composed of normal members who did not possess any territory.
But he knew about their absurd strength and agility, which made them incredibly tough beasts to battle.
His slash aimed at cutting off the monster’s arm, and yet it only left a skin-deep scratch.
Pilu took the opportunity while the leader remained confused to take Malik’s unconscious body and bring it away from the beast.
He then left the body on the snow and stepped forward to hold the beast off for a few seconds.
The yeti’s ferocious arm was coming towards him, and thinking it was an attempt to grab him, Pilu moved aside.
But instead of the usual grab he was used to, a punch was delivered, clashing against his sword and sending him flying backward.
He thrust his sword into the snow sideways, hoping to slow down his knockback, but he did not take into consideration the high speed possessed by the monster, who appeared beside him while he was still trying to stop.
The yeti’s big hand was headed for his face this time, and as it wrapped around his head, Pilu saw his life flash before his eyes.
He had killed hundreds of yetis, and he could be considered a slaughter of their kin, was it his fate to die by their hands?
He thought so, but his fragile life was saved by Sivert, who appeared from behind the monster, beheading it in one strike.
Astonished by the power shown by the guild leader, Pilu froze with his butt on the cold snow.
“Are you alright?! Quick! you need to get up or we will start to fall behind, the whole formation has been weakened because of what just happened?!
Said the leader before quickly rushing towards the fallen body of their comrade in order to feed him a healing potion.
It was a precious resource, but in Greenland, the most precious resources were the awakened.
The body of the fallen man was patched up, but he still did not regain consciousness, so the guild leader tasked Pilu with taking him out of that mess and delivering his injured body to the healing team waiting in support cars a couple of hundred meters away from there.
Pilu dragged the body and fought with the yetis that stood in their way to successfully complete the mission.
He then also rested outside the fight area, exhausted from the fight.
In the meantime, Sivert returned to the center where most of the leaders gathered.
As soon as he came back, a bit of the work weighing down on Caleb’s and the dean’s shoulders was taken by him.
“A minute my ass, it’s been almost three minutes since you’ve been gone!”
Said the dean.
“I’m sorry the situation was worse than I imagined and I had to stay a few seconds there”
“I don’t care, just take care of three of them will you?”
The remaining leaders were ten, and while they were supposed to split them in a way that the Dean would take care of half of them and the other two a quarter each, because of Sivert’s absence, she was forced to take on six of them at the same time while Caleb had to hold off four.
They had both gone above their limits to do so, because while at the start the leaders fell pretty easily under their slashes and punches, that started to change when many of them gathered to fight together.
They had to pay attention to all the directions since a grab could’ve come their way at any moment.
The fight dragged on for another two and a half hours, and after having defeated all the leaders, the remaining yetis then went down pretty quickly with the help of the dean, Caleb, and Sivert, even if they were all exhausted.
Unfortunately, an awakened died two hours after the start of the fight, she was a B-rank, and in such a long battle, tiredness and distraction caught up with her body, letting her fall prey to one of the yetis.
She was the only victim of this battle, and even if everyone was saddened when discovering her death, they were lucky she was the only one.
Awakened battles always hold risks, especially last-minute operations like that one, where tactics were based on hypotheses and approximations.
Returning back to the headquarters both victorious and defeated, they all got to rest.
The atmosphere was heavy both in the room of the Greenlandic awakened and the American awakened, since in one of them they were thinking of a dead friend, and in the other, they were anxious to know whether or not their mate would come back alive.
In the meantime…
A fierce battle took place inside the innermost area, where Hans was giving it his best shot trying to make the ice tortoises go extinct.
As soon as he attacked one earlier in the morning, many of them became hostile to him and didn’t stop fighting even when their usual moving time ended.
This meant that he couldn’t focus on one of them at a time and that he was not allowed any rest in between his battles.
His eyes, fortunately, were different from normal ones, and they made him notice a concentration of mana in a certain spot of the tortoises’ body, more precisely, exactly under the middle of their shells.
He figured that must’ve been their weak point, and immediately started casting various spells.
The battle in itself was not dangerous, since he could just hang a few minutes up in the air every time he needed to catch a breath, but the difficult part was exhaustion.
He had a mana pool many times greater than what it should’ve been at his level, but since every tortoise required tens of high and medium-rank spells to be taken down, when the sunset, he found himself completely empty…
