Only Wisdom Awakened - Chapter 191
Chapter 191: Back At The Academy
Just beside a huge car, a man who matched its size was waiting lying on its side.
When he saw a familiar face in the distance, he got up and raised his hand, waving it energetically.
“Hans!!
Hahaha, it feels like it’s been an eternity since the last time I saw you”
“Yeah… it felt that way to me too”
Hans replied.
“Woah… was that a smile? Are you so happy to see me?”
Preston, who was just beside Hans, thought:
‘What? How was that a smile?’
“Well then, shall we get going?”
“Alright, open the back I’m going to put my bag away”
As Hans was about to enter the car, Preston called him out.
“Hans!
I wanted to thank you for everything, it’s thanks to you that I can continue what I’m doing, and I won’t ever forget it”
The man bowed deeply, but the boy reassured him:
“There’s no need to do that.
I’m just lucky to have these powers, I am sure that if they belonged to you, you wouldn’t have hesitated to do the same.”
‘His desperation and determination, I once had them too… this world is… so unjust isn’t it?’
The man bowed till the car disappeared in the distance, and then returned inside the association, where he still had a lot of work to conclude.
Somewhere in San Diego, a group of friends returned home after a long day of training.
“To think that Hans guy was a mage… ”
Maddie said.
“And not a normal mage… but a seventh-tier one…”
Added Landon.
“I know right? It’s strange, I always heard about S-ranks having shitty personalities, but he was pretty chill”
Gideon explained as he inserted the keys in the keyhole.
“Mh…”
Catherine mumbled.
Clara didn’t speak, she had been silent for the whole day after what had happened.
As she pushed down the handle of the door leading to her room, a loud sigh resounded through the living room, and all the others heard it.

Whispering, Gideon asked Cathrine:
“Hey, is she alright?”
“This…
Her room…Yesterday night… whispering… ”
“W-what…?
Are you telling the truth”
Cathrine nodded.
“Uh? What are you two talking about?”
Maddie heard them whispering and wanted to know what they were talking about.
“Come here I’ll tell you”
“Blah, blah, blah…”
“What!!”
“She brought a man to her room?
Does that mean he did a one-night dash on her?!”
Both the idiots responsible for spreading this nonsensical information nodded with a pained face.
“I see…”
Her expression shifted, becoming similar to the other two’s.
In the meantime, Clara was thinking about Hans.
‘Will I ever see him again?…
Maybe I should investigate him a little bit…
Nah, let’s forget it, he seemed like a good guy, and it’s about time I finish what I’ve started.’
As she thought those words, her eyes drifted towards the whiteboard on her wall.
But from the corner of her eye, she saw something on the floor.
It seemed like a huge stone, but she couldn’t see very well because the lights were turned off.
For a moment, she was scared some strange animal had entered her room, but as soon as she turned the switch of the lights, she understood what was going on.
“Hans… you crazy fucker…. How did you even get inside my house?…”
The ‘rock’ she saw on the ground was more than just a mere stone one could find on the ground.
“This thing’s gotta be a couple dozen million”
It was the mana stone of the A-rank dungeon’s boss, and on it were two post-its.
The first one wrote:
[I hope this will be enough to cover the price of the information 🙂 ]
While the second one, attached slightly lower, added:
[ ps: please treat Gideon to a meal for me]
The girl rushed out of her room euphorically as she yelled:
“Let’s go out tonight!! I’ll treat you all to a feast!”
The three idiots’s expressions reverted to the pitiful face they showed before as they thought in unison:
“She… must be really lonely”
…
Late at night, Hans and Caleb finally returned to the Academy, where they bid each other goodbye before going to their respective dorms.
That night, the moon was but a curved white line in the sky, and as Hans walked back to his room, he could barely see the path ahead of him.
‘From what I heard, tomorrow the students will arrive here at the academy, and then, the lessons will begin the following day.
In the meantime, I need to find something to teach them as the dean suggested.
The only way to do that is…’
Hans touched his chest as if trying to contain the obscure mana surrounding his heart.
‘… this power’
“Sigh….”
Hans opened the door to his room and a little animal greeted him with a cheerful sound.
Whispering, Hans caressed Ember’s snout.
“Hey little peep, how’re you doing, I’m sorry I’ve been out for a few days, I’ll get you something to eat in a second”
After feeding Ember, Hans sat on his bed with his legs crossed.
‘I need to recover as much mana as possible, I might’ve overdone it a bit today…
Repeatedly using sixth-tier spells of various elements really took a toll on his body.
And he couldn’t afford to stay low on mana since he planned on using the strange power around his heart for all the following day.
The night passed relatively fast as he thought about many things while meditating, but something immediately caught his eye as soon as he got up from the lotus position.
His wisdom seemed to have stopped increasing from meditation, maybe because a sixth-tier meditation wasn’t ranked high enough to aid him at such a level.
‘I’m close… I’m close to the eighth circle’
After the raid of the A-rank gate, his level went up a few times, and with it, his wisdom also increased.
[level: 287—>310
Wisdom: 3329—>3444]
Now, he was just missing a few levels or books before he could finally upgrade to the long-desired eight-circle.
The sun rays lit his apartment through the window, and Ember was already up slithering around him.
The young man stretched his arms before walking towards the kitchen and preparing breakfast.
‘These powers of mine… I spent all night trying to figure out what they were, and I may have come to a conclusion.
I am pretty sure I can… speak to the dead.
That plane is something like the afterword I think, and every silhouette is a different person.
The ones who emit light must be different from the ones who don’t because while I can touch the others and see their memories, I have no way of communicating with the ones who don’t emit any light.
As for why some emit light while some don’t… I honestly have no idea, and the same for what happened that time when Caelan spoke to me without me going inside that place.’
Sipping on his coffee, Hans watched the Academy’s gate in the distance, where a couple of cars had already arrived.
“Oh… that’s right, the guys are returning today, it’s been a while since the last time we met.
I’m curious to know how much they’ve all improved…’
The young man turned around and sat on the bed again since the thought that his students must’ve put their all into training gave him the motivation to research something to teach them.
“Here we go!”
Hans injected mana into that dark power surrounding his heart, and he immediately received a reaction from the other side.
Without him even moving it, his mana was being sucked in by that power, and Hans soon found himself inside that plain of darkness.
As always, many silhouettes stood all around him, some emitted a faint light, while some were completely obscure.
But this time he was prepared and didn’t waste any time searching around for Caelan.
‘I am the host of this power, and I am its master as long as it’s inside me, meaning whatever I want to do here, I will be able to do.’
Hans thought about Caelan and closed his eyes, as soon as he blinked, only one figure stood in front of him, and it was brighter than all the others he had around him previously.
As he touched that silhouette, he was transported into another plane.
‘If I am right, this part of the plain of darkness is like a personal record of everyone’s memories, and the place where I can interact with those who are not living beings anymore.’
His limited field of vision was intruded on by a man, who walked solemnly toward him.
“Caelan!”
Hans said.
“It’s good to see you”
However, even after the young man spoke, the other continued walking forward, before stopping just a few centimeters away from him.
Then, he watched Hans in the eyes and said:
“Kid… you’ve got some nerve”
“Uh? C-caelan? Is everything okay?”
“You dared… cut me off while I was talking and leave me here for so long!”
