Only Wisdom Awakened - Chapter 201
Chapter 201: Caelan’s Regrets
The next morning, Hans was making his way towards his classroom when a soft but disturbing voice echoed in his head:
“Hey, what’s up with you, I’m sure a lot less time has passed since the last time you summoned me”
“Yes, I summed you yesterday evening while now it’s morning, so it’s normal for you to feel like it hasn’t been a while”
“Mh… then, why have you brought me here? And where are you currently going?”
“Wait for it I’m going to show you my students, you can tell me what you think about them”
Hans opened the door leading to the classroom, and just as the day before, all the students were already seated behind their desks.
“Hey… are they all your students? Aren’t they a bit too many?”
Caelan Asked as soon as Hans sat down.
“No, I have another class of younger kids, so if this seems like a lot you might not like them altogether.
Anyway… how do you feel about them?”
“Mh… they’re trash”
“H-hey… you should be a bit more gentle with your words, one of them is even about to break through the fourth circle”
“So? When I was his age I had already entered the sixth tier, no, actually, I was already at the seventh”
“You’re making two mistakes from the start Caelan”
“And what would they be?”
“Well… first of all, you shouldn’t compare yourself with anyone, you became an archmage in your twenties so you’re not just any random kids on the streets.
Not to talk about the fact that you had a blessed body and the support of the goddess.
These kids… they have embarked on the journey of magic just a few years ago, some a couple and some even just nine months ago”
“Uh!? How long has it been since that blue-haired kid started learning magic?”
“I don’t know, but less than a year ago he was still at the peak of the second rank and now he’s about to create his fourth circle… his progression speed is good.”
“Then… I might have to reconsider what I have said, but what about the others? Not all of them have such talent, so why would you accept them as disciples?”
“They aren’t my disciples, I’m just teaching them a couple of tricks”
“A couple of tricks… you literally came to me asking for a spell that could turn around the world just to teach it to them…
you fool!! You aren’t just teaching them some tricks…”
“I would like to become their master, but it’s not like any of them would agree”
“Uh? No, I see it in their eyes, I’m pretty sure-”
“I’m almost the same age as them”
“No, no, I think they-”
“And they have their lives to live, they would gain nothing by becoming my disciples”
“Argh! Listen to me! I can see their eyes brimming with respect and admiration, are you just dumb?”

“Huh? Really? I couldn’t tell, maybe you’re just imagining things…”
“I am not!
You punk…
But even if you could, if I were you I wouldn’t accept all of them as apprentices, some people are only a burden to you, so do not let their lack of talent bring you down.
Where I come from is the same, great mages only take a couple of students amongst the most talented of the generation of youngsters, and the others have to grow through other means”
“It seems like you are misunderstanding something just because I’ve praised one of my students a bit…
He may be the one with the highest magic tier, but his talent is on par with many others”
“Uh?!”
“You see that black-haired kid with glasses?”
“Y-yeah”
“His battle IQ is incredible, his strategies are good, and the use he makes of information is simply wonderful”
“Okay but-”
“Then, a few seats next to him, in the same row, you see that pink-haired girl?”
“Yeah… what about her?!”
Asked Caelan, who couldn’t do anything but go along with Hans’s thoughts.
“Just like the body your family has, she possesses an innate talent, and considering our world’s nature, it might even be more useful than yours”
“What?! What kind of talent does she have?”
“The magic eye, an ability that allows her to see the mana in the air and analyze the opponent’s spells and incantation”
“W-what?! That’s insane”
“Yeah, then that one… the big guy seated in the first row, his body is honed by countless martial arts, and his spells allow him to strengthen it even further.
If he fought with all he had, he would probably be at the level of a fourth circle.”
“What the…
How come there are this many talented kids in the same class?”
“These are the best kids of our whole nation, it’s only natural that their talents are outstanding”
“Now that you point it out… it’s quite abnormal for so many of them to be in the third tier at that age…”
“Yeah… they’re my students after all…
So? Do you still think they wouldn’t be worthy of being my disciples”
“Certainly… it seems like they have the qualifications required…”
As Hans’s gaze passed by Colton’s face, a strong feeling of regret took over his mind, it wasn’t his… it was Caelan’s
“What is this…”
Hans questioned, feeling his mind being pressured by the annoying situation.
“It’s nothing… just-”
“No, never mind”
‘Uh? He’s acting strange now…
Whatever…’
“Good morning”
After being silent for almost a minute, Hans greeted his students.
“Good morning”
The class replied in unison.
“You might’ve heard the news already… there is going to be an official competition between the academies all over the world.
If you go as you are right now… you’ll get beaten to death”
The students’ gazes faced the floor, ashamed of their level.
“That’s why… it’s about time I start teaching you something special isn’t it?”
‘What?!’
Most of the students immediately raised their chins to take a look at Hans’s smiling face.
He was serious about it…
to teach them something special even if they weren’t his disciples…
“Haha… don’t look at me with those eyes full of appreciation.
Remember the first thing you always have to learn when living in this world…
Nothing is free.
You will have to work hard to obtain it…
The secret rewards could be handed down to every single one of you…”
The competitive spirits of the students were more ignited than they had ever been before, and with them, their eyes burned with the flames of determination.
“The Japanese Academy was one of the weakest, and even they had many more students higher ranked than us.
I’m sure my good mate Caleb is also strengthening all his students… don’t tell me the magic class wants to fall behind…”
As Hans continued with his provocative phrases, all the students apart from a few got up from their seats, and Colton spoke for them:
“What… do we have to do”
“Haha… this is the spirit that I like!
Show me that you can do it!
From now to the end of October, every single one of you will have to reach the third rank.”
“What?!”
“The third rank?! I’m still only at the first!”
“How are we supposed to do that in less than two months?”
While some of the students were complaining about the difficulty, others, like Claire, were enjoying it to the fullest:
“Hehe…
Hehehehe… To think I just have to break through, I was ready to do it this week anyway…
My dear reward… I’m coming for youuuu!”
“And that’s not all… you have to reach at least a whole tier higher than your current, meaning that Colton, you, being at the peak of the third rank, must reach the peak of the fourth rank”
Colton was taken by surprise… but more than him, Claire just behind him was petrified…
“I-have to-reach…. The peak of the third rank…
That’s it, I’m doomed!”
“Do not worry”
Hans reassured them as he smirked.
“I am a good teacher, I won’t leave all of you without anything to take advantage of!”
“I will teach you all the completed version of the meditation skill… or I will try at least, how much use it will be to you depends solely on your understanding of the mana flow.
Now… follow me to the Gym”
Hans taught all of them the way he used to meditate, he had already taught them but only up to the third level, meaning their meditation skill was slower compared to the original.
Unfortunately, it wasn’t so easy to learn, and apart from Logan who immediately managed to upgrade it to the fourth level after following some instructions, the other did not yield any results for the whole day.
He used the skill {mana pact} and made them swear not to teach the meditation method to anyone before he taught them, so he was sure his action wouldn’t have any great repercussions over time.
In the meantime, a lonely soul was sent back to the plain of darkness, where lost in nothingness, he thought over and over again about the child he had observed a few hours earlier…
“Should I consider… passing down the Frostbane’s heritage to someone”
