Only Wisdom Awakened - Chapter 209
Chapter 209: Loophole
Not rushing, but moving at a fast pace, Hans left the house after alerting Aiden and then took a cab to the Association branch.
A few minutes was all it took for him to find himself in front of the great building he hadn’t visited in months.
As he entered, he passed by many employees, directly entering the elevator.
Some people managed to catch a glimpse of his face, and whispers arose as many recognized him.
He tapped a button on the elevator and patiently waited for the doors to close before being transported up to the last floor, where he thought the leader, Kenta, would be waiting for him.
And indeed, as soon as Hans stepped out of the elevator, he spotted the blonde man.
However, contrary to his usual serious appearance, the man was lying on the ground with his back against the wall, not even in his office but in the hallway.
Blood painted the floor, and a couple of corpses dressed in black were lying a few meters from the branch leader, countless wounds inflicted on their bodies made their red and fresh blood flow down to the ground, creeping out Hans.
The young man observed the scene before turning his attention towards Kenta, who was pushing a white piece of clothing, painted red by the blood, towards his abdomen.
Just beside him on the floor was the phone he had used to call Hans, covered in blood and cracks.
Keeping a cool head as much as possible, Hans asked the man:
“Did they… Try to assassinate you?”
Panting heavily, Kenta couldn’t help but let out a little laughter before replying:
“Fuck… when did you become a detective?”
“Cut it out, will you? Or do I have to remind you I can always finish the job they’ve started?”
“Pant… pant…. Hehe… pant… you wouldn’t do that to a wounded man, would you?”
“I don’t know, seeing how you have enough energy to joke around, I’m pretty sure you’ll be fine without my help”
“Hey… pant… pant… I’m serious help me, please-
As the man tried to lift his wounded body he felt an immense pain and stopped immediately.
“aghh!!”
Before jumping to conclusions, Hans inspected the place with his mystic insight…
‘Two corpses, they were both assassins at the peak of the A-rank, for two people of such a high status to personally try to assassinate him…’
“I think it’s time you tell me a few details about this so-called ‘gang’ of yours…”
Hans said, turning towards Kenta.
“Alright alright… I’ll tell you whatever you want to know, but can you do something about this? I’m losing a bit too much blood to be safe.”
“I will… see what I can do”
Hans watched the man with doubtful eyes… to kill two people at the top of A-rank… Kenta wasn’t enough…
Hans analyzed Kenta’s status window and noticed that even if they had increased, and they were now almost at the level of a medium S-rank, his stats weren’t enough to take down both those people…
To add onto that, they were both assassins, meaning they definitely hadn’t challenged him to a fight or barged into his room, they had probably ambushed him…
‘Is there something I haven’t considered?

How did he do it?’
Hans was distracted by his doubts when Kenta called him out:
“Hey! Mind giving me a helping hand before I die?”
After a few seconds of silence, Hans replied saying:
“You’re an S-rank awakened… you won’t die from something like that”
“Maybe I won’t die, but it f*cking hurts”
“Sigh… whatever”
Hans extended his arm and closed his eyes before gathering light mana into his hand and releasing it forward…
{medium heal}
It took a few minutes and quite a bit of mana, but the wound eventually closed…
‘This spell’s not that useful… it works better on me, and it takes a lot of mana and time, I should upgrade it when I have the chance…’
Hans and Kenta now sat on the same desk, one opposite to the other, as they stared into each other’s eyes.
‘I can’t wrap my head around it no matter how much I think about it…’
Hans thought as he analyzed Kenta’s status once again:

‘Strange… his personalities are now numbered… is it because he has shown me many of them?
Whatever the reason… I’ve never seen this personality I think.
He’s a mix between the normal and the annoying one… how to describe it… I would call it cunning.
He seems to be observing me a lot, more than the other times’
“So? Care to explain properly?”
Hans asked.
The man continued to observe him for a few seconds before sighing as he fixed his posture.
“Let’s see… where do I start…
As you know, my name’s Korean, but I’m not from there, my father was from Japan, and I was born there…
My father was… how to call him… unusual.
He was someone of great authority even before the catastrophe, and the gang that is now targeting me was… under his command”
“You mean… he’s a mafia boss or something like that?”
“Mh… kind of”
Hans checked with his skill to determine whether Kenta was telling the truth, and he was quite relieved to find out that he was not lying.
Even if he had met Kenta a while ago, he still couldn’t fully trust his background, since even after asking Emily to look into it, he couldn’t find anything.
“And? Did you kill him or something?”
“No, of course, I didn’t… but I already told you… I ran away”
[the target is: …lying]
“Do not lie to me”
Hans said casually piercing the man’s facade with his sharp gaze.
‘What’s that?! He looked like he was reading something!
And then… how does he know that I was lying?!
Wait!
….
Could it be?!!’
….
The man did his best to contain his laughter…
‘… He has a skill that tells him if I’m telling the truth?!
Khehehe, this broken shit! How the hell did he even get something like that?
Wait… then how come he believed me when I told him I’ve never killed an innocent person?!
Did he realize I was lying and just let me go or…
Alright then, let’s see if this works…’
“So? I will ask again… did you kill your father?!”
“No… I didn’t kill my father, he was assassinated one night, and the following day I left the country”
[the target is telling the truth]
“And then?”
At that moment, Kenta realized he had just hooked up a big fish…
‘He… fell for it!!
Hehe… The more you think you know, the more easily you will be deceived… who would’ve guessed right?!… That for your stupid skill… my different personalities count as different people…’
“What happened after that for you to be so hated?”
The man was taken by surprise… he had to find a way to answer the question without lying…
“Most of the gang my father controlled came over to Korea with me.
Even if it was more difficult to survive there as an outlaw because of their fairly high security… thanks to the effects of the catastrophe we managed to pass by almost unnoticed since they had other things to think about…. But the gang started to change…
Even if not innocent, my father never crossed certain lines…”
‘How many of my personalities were acting up during that time…. Let’s see… two, that means I can use plural… hehe… this will make the perfect story.’
“… However, after we moved to Korea, certain individuals In the group started to cause trouble… murdering numerous people, slaughtering innocent lives, and even committing crimes that shouldn’t be mentioned…
At the time, my behavior differentiated from that of the other members of the gang, and when I tried to impose my mentality on them, they became hostile towards me, my younger self even had to kill some of the members before finally managing to escape here to America, where I’ve been for the past few years”
Even if with his mouth he was telling the story, his mind was already beginning to go crazy”
‘That’s it, Hans… you’re… the perfect tool to use for this job!”
