Only Wisdom Awakened - Chapter 219
Chapter 219: The old man’s anger
‘He’s right…
My choice wasn’t only wrong, it was also unbiased…
I may not be the most careful person in the world, but I do try to think twice about what I do…
Why did I allow someone like him to take such an important position?…
Was it because I was in a hurry to leave this place and grow stronger? Or did I just not care about what could happen to the city…
To be honest, it’s probably none of the two… the reason should be because of my confidence … When I met him for the first time, he immediately stood out among those second-rate thugs, not only because of his powers but also because of his personality…
And even after that, I was so confident in my ability to detect his lies that I deemed everything he said as true… never did it cross my mind to think he might’ve just been faking it, and seeing as he always answered the truth I began to trust him more than I should have.’
“I… made a mistake, I’m sorry, it seems like my ability to judge people is not at the same level as my fighting ability”
“Well, at least you can tell by yourself, so I won’t have to say anything… but still, you should be careful of who you decide to trust.”
“Mh… It won’t happen again”
“Well then, now you’re all set to return to the position of branch leader, you seem to have grown enough, and the same for your powers, Chicago won’t have any problems after it follows your lead.”
As he said those words, the old man got up and turned around to walk away, but the shocked Hans soon stopped him…
“Wait! I can’t take this position, I called you here because I was hoping you’d take it!”
Showing his back to Hans, Garrison said:
“Really?….”
But changing his serious tone into a satisfied and happy one he continued:
“I know, I was just trying to scare you, haha…”
‘This… ain’t funny’
Hans thought watching Garrison and doubting whether or not he was really fit to be a branch leader.
“Come on, what’s up with that face, I haven’t seen you smiling once ever since I got here, did your cat die or something?”
“Sigh”… Hans couldn’t help but roll his eyes, finally remembering how garrison was even when he was the branch leader.
‘I guess I’m in no place to doubt his ability as a leader’
“You called me here because you wanted me to take on this position right?
That’s okay, I hadn’t resigned in the first place, I was just stepping down for a while to take a little time for my self-improvement.
I can’t run from this position for the rest of my life, and I can’t force it on a youngster like you who still has room for growth.”
….
‘He had me scared there for a second’
Hans thought as he walked out of the building.
‘That’s settled at least, now, passing onto the more exciting stuff…’
Hans’s lips twitched as he watched the rundown building beside the Association branch…

The excited young man made his way to the entrance, but he was taken by surprise by the voices of some people inside, who were screaming at the top of their lungs:
“And what das tha’ have to do wit’ me?!”
The easily recognizable voice of the old man said.
But talking back to him was the voice of a woman, who insisted:
“Sir! You have to pay the rent otherwise we will have to take you out by force!”
“I’m tellin’ you!! Can’t ya wait a few days?!”
“It’s not possible sir! The laws are absolute, if you cannot afford to pay for a building then you must leave it for someone else.
Especially when the building is in such an important location.”
Even though the words she said seemed to follow the path of righteousness.
Her thoughts had a different meaning:
‘The guild master of the Blue Moon guild has asked me to ensure that this place gets emptied because since they need a new headquarters they are thinking of tearing this old store down and building it here…
I wouldn’t have agreed, but this store hasn’t sold a single weapon in three years, and this old man still clearly produces weapons, meaning he probably sells them at the night market.
Even though it’s legal to sell things at the night market, the taxes paid in that place, other than being extremely low, do not even end up in the hands of the government or the Association, but that bastard Money Maven…
I will not let all that money go to waste, honestly, I don’t even know why all the states worldwide allow the night market to exist…’
“I just need ya to wait for a few days, I’m tellin’ ya I’m about to receive mah pay”
The old man went on asking, getting more angry by the second because of the woman’s attitude.
At that moment, Hans silently entered the room, and the two of them did not notice him, both caught up in a heated argument.
Beside the woman, was standing a man who wore a serious expression on his face as he watched the two of them back and forth.
“Sir! Do you have the money or not?!”
“I… currently do not have them, howeve-”
Before he could continue, the woman stopped him.
“If you don’t have the money then get out, do I… Have to do it myself?!”
The woman rolled up the sleeves of her uniform, and the man beside her, who had been quiet up till that point, tried to stop her by saying;
“Camilla? Calm down, you aren’t usually like this, is something wrong?”
“No no, nothing’s wrong, I’m just going to teach a lesson to this decrepit old man.”
“Calm down Camilla, you’ll end up creating trouble for us”
“Don’t worry, he’s awakened and he’s got a lot of muscles, I bet he can take at least a hit”
Hearing those words, the old man who had been holding himself back since the start of the conversation, couldn’t take it anymore.
“Oh yeah!!! Come at me!! I’d like to see you try!”
He yelled, raising his hammer above his head, and unconsciously releasing his aura.
As soon as his aura was released, the two officers froze in place, their breathing became scarce, and they felt this overwhelming pressure upon their shoulders.
The woman fell to her knees on the ground, while the man barely stood on his feet by grabbing onto a little shelf.
“You…”
Said the voice of the old man, which seemed deeper and threatening all of a sudden.
“… come into mah shop asking me to pay the rent just a month after ya raised its price, and then threaten to kic’ me out of mah house, and even beat me…
Are ya searchin’ for yor’ grave?!”
‘W-what is going on?!’
Thought the woman, as she panted heavily for air…
‘I-i can’t breathe!!
Is it the old man?!
Impossible! I’ve met the Blaze Guild leader once, and even she was not as monstrous as this old man!
Is he… an S- Ra…’
Her mind stopped as she watched the hammer approach her face, her eyes filled with fear, resembled those of an abandoned animal about to be eaten by a predator.
But just as it suddenly manifested itself, the pressure broke in just an instant, when the words of a young man resounded through the room.
“Hey, hey, no need to take it so far”
Hans said, with a little smile on his face.
It was the first time he had got to witness the old man so worked up.
“What are you a child? Unleashing your anger on a poor civilian just because you don’t have the money to pay your rent”
Since he was already there, he wanted to push the old man to his limits.
He was once afraid of that hammer, but now it could barely be considered a threat, and he found it amusing to see the great Hephaestus acting like a child.
“Huh?!! Are ya searching for trouble now?!”
Said the old man turning around.
‘N-no!’
Thought the man as he watched the blacksmith walk toward Hans.
‘That boy is innocent… he won’t hurt him right?!’
“No, no, I’m scared to death old man”
A vein appeared on the old man’s forehead as he became red from the anger.
“You know I’m frail, I might faint just from that scary look on your face”
Seeing Hans acting like a douchebag, the old man unleashed his anger once again.
He raised his hammer, and even more ferociously than earlier, he swung it down.
‘If it’s you little pesky brat, you shouldn’t die right?’
The old man thought smiling.
“N-no!!”
Screamed the woman…
“Clang!!”
The sound of the hammer colliding with something resounded throughout the building, and the store barely managed not to crumble because of a barrier cast by Hans.
‘An innocent person… just because of me… he-he died because of me!!’
The woman, crying on the floor, was having a mental breakdown.
