Only Wisdom Awakened - Chapter 226
Chapter 226: Guild
I want Hans Richter… to join my guild”
Hans immediately squinted his eyes at the woman…
‘Is that all… she just wants me to become one of her subordinates?’
Hans felt a little bit insulted by this offer, however, as If he wasn’t even there, everyone began discussing whether or not to accept the offer, without even listening to the most important opinion.
Hans couldn’t help but put on an angered and disgusted expression.
They were talking about him as if he were an object to be traded away.
Chatter arose in the room, and Ava watched Hans, understanding where his emotions were coming from.
She almost pitied him.
“I feel like we shouldn’t give in that easily… after all, our main objective was to keep him here to help us not just to be a facade, if he were to join a guild overseas, would he even be able to help?”
One of the old men seated at the table commented, chatting with two other branch leaders.
Another one of the people seated in that room interrupted him… it was the New York branch leader speaking:
“As I thought, you all have worries about Hans’s usefulness if he were to move overseas…
However, worry not, since even when he lives in England, he will still hold American citizenship, and as such, he will be obliged to come back in case of an emergency, and America’s big troubles will always be first on his priority risk, Freya can vouch for that”
He explained, indicating the woman beside him, who nodded in response.
“… and if the situation is so dire to require the boy’s intervention, then it definitely won’t come unannounced, it would take him at most twelve hours to reach America thanks to the private jet provided by Miss Freya’s guild.
Is America so weak that it would require immediate help in case of an emergency?”
He added.
His words yielded the results he hoped for, and convinced most of the association leaders.
However, those who were familiar with Hans didn’t express their opinions, and simply watched Hans, observing him to figure out what he was about to do.
When the matter seemed to be already resolved, another question was raised, someone asked:
“However, what does Freya have to convince Hans to join her guild and sign our pact? We all know S-rank awakened aren’t easy to persuade”
“That is a good question”
Replied Freya.
“And I have a good answer to it…
The thing I will offer Hans is simple:
I will help him when he has to break through the eight rank, and I will teach him three seventh rank spells, and when the time comes, I will pass my main eight rank spell to him.”
Everyone remained shocked by that offer… the value of spells at the time was out of bounds, since even when it came to low level spells, no one ever sold spell books, and almost no one researched them by themselves, making a seventh rank spell an incredible treasure, which worth could not be quantified in money…
To offer three spells of such rank, and even the help in breaking through the eight rank, also giving him an eight rank spell…
It was something no mage on earth could ever refuse…
Almost, no mage on earth.

As if the matter had already been wrapped up, all the leaders were preparing to leave their seats, finally happy to end the meeting… but someone still had something to say.
Hans didn’t even ask Ava before acting, he just straight up did what he felt like…
‘I think I’ve been quiet for a little too long… trying the best to hide my strength and fool everyone’s eyes… that was all when I didn’t have enough power to reveal it, now, how many people would be able to stand up to me?
How many people would even be able to hold a candle to me?
And yet these old fools are here trading me away as if my opinion didn’t matter…
It might be time to remind them, that they do not have the power to control my life…’
For the first time since entering the room, Hans opened his mouth.
“I think you all are misunderstanding something…”
As he spoke, everyone who was already getting up paused.
Replying to him was the Atlanta branch leader, an old man in his seventy with more fingers than hair.
“And what would we be misunderstanding young man?”
“Have I ever agreed?”
Freya paled hearing such words, and so did the New York branch leader.
“Why?…”
Asked the old man grinning.
“… you’re gonna refuse?”
“Yes I am”
Hans said, making the room fall into an abyssal silence.
“You’re going to refuse my offer?!”
Freya asked enraged.
“You truly are an ignorant young man who doesn’t know anything but magic, do you have any idea what it means to become part of my guild? I even offered you some other conditions that will help you with time”
“Help me with time huh?… I see”
“Well then, I will be returning now.
Hans will come with me, I will show him around in Europe when we get there”
Turning her back to the room, the woman was on her way out while Hans was still leisurely sitting on his chair.
“Come on, get up, we don’t have time to waste here”
She said, obviously talking with Hans.
“Jumping to conclusions again aren’t you?”
The young man commented.
“Have I ever said I was going to join you?”
This time, Freya’s patience snapped, she couldn’t stand being toyed with anymore.
“Boy, this is the second time you’ve refused my invitation, I will give you one last chance, and you better think wisely before making your choice, because there is no turning back.
No one and I mean no one, refuses an invitation from the white sea.
Now, tell me your reply”
Hans lay back and raised his legs, resting them upon the circular table in front of him.
“You come here, you throw me a couple of bones and ask me to chase them like a dog…
You can go fuck yourself.
This is my reply.”
The woman’s overbearing mana was released into the room, and the branch leaders, almost all overwhelmed by a sensation of fear, watched back and forth between Hans and Freya.
“Young boy, you might need a beating to understand it fully, allow me to show you what it means to be a mage”
While most of the old fools inside the room would’ve been terrorized by those words, Hans remained unfazed, and Freya thought it was because of his stupidity and arrogance.
Ava, Garrison, and Caleb, all watched Hans with worried eyes, they had one question only in mind:
What will you do now?… Hans’
‘This woman… She’s been calling me a young man and a boy since the start of the conversation when she’s barely thirty-five…
Not only that… she continuously threatened me, even saying she’d beat her idea into me…
I really find it hard to stand her anymore, making an example out of her should suffice I guess.
Alright, let’s do this.
I just… have to remember not to kill her.’
“Sigh…”
Hans sighed loudly enough for everyone to hear it, and this got on the woman’s nerves even more.
“Alright… since you really want to play I’ll play your game, but let me make something clear… old lady…”
Hearing those words, Freya’s face turned ugly.
Her beautiful emotionless facade crumbled under Hans’s provocation, leaving place for the ugly face of an angered wrinkled woman.
“Boy! How dare you call me lik-
In an instant, the woman’s body, which was standing opposite Hans in the room, was pulled away by an irresistible force.
Flying through the room in front of everyone’s eyes, her face ended up between Hans’s fingers, as he touched her forehead with his palm.
The table had been broken, and the woman was kneeling down before Hans who was seated like usual.
“You see old lady, it seems like you’re missing a few important pieces of information, you shouldn’t interrupt someone as they talk, haven’t your parents taught you that? Also, no need to get so angry, it’ll only wrinkle your skin.
Not like it would change much anyway…
The woman’s face had become red from the anger, and deep inside, she was swearing, insulting Hans in all the ways she could think of, but no words came out of her mouth.
‘Why?! Why can’t I break free from his grasp?! Why won’t my mouth speak?! Why won’t my arms move?!’
All those unexplainable things were happening to her, just because of one of Hans’s spells.
But with mana control and affinity like his, a seventh-tier spell was more powerful than a normal eight-tiered one.
His telekinesis… was an inescapable prison.
“Where was I… oh right! I wanted to make things clear… the only reason I would even remotely consider joining that guild of yours is if you gave me the position of Guild leader, but even then, I wouldn’t really find any use in it, so you can kindly fuck off and go play guild with someone else.”
