Only Wisdom Awakened - Chapter 240
Chapter 240: A Lead To The Unknown
Hans was lying on the bed with his eyes closed.
He was trying to reorganize his thoughts and make something out of everything he discovered.
He cared relatively little about how he got his powers.
It did interest him, but till that moment, he had always been focused on growing stronger and also didn’t have any clue about it.
Unknown…
What a strange definition, was it even a rarity? Or was it just what the system displayed because it couldn’t analyze it?
Also, did that power belong to some entity? Maybe another world? Maybe directly from the plain of darkness.
Hans had tried giving an answer to these questions, but without anything other than a single word on his status window, he couldn’t conclude anything…
Now that he had met someone else who was in contact with the ‘unknown’, trying to make a few guesses to get a general outline of what he was fiddling with couldn’t hurt.
He temporally ignored Emma’s abnormally high combat ability as he thought something along the lines of:
‘If I had nine years to improve my abilities, I guess it wouldn’t be abnormal to have stats like that’
Focusing on the matter at hand, Hans came up with three guesses:
First of all, the ‘unknown’ he saw on the status windows had some connection to the plain of darkness, this was the least likable since he couldn’t find a plausible explanation for a connection between the plain of darkness and Emma.
The second guess he had was that the ‘unknown’ meant a skill or a class granted from a specific entity, most probably a god in this case, and that both he and Emma had been gifted something from him, this wasn’t a bad guess, but it scared Hans, he knew that nothing was free in this world, and if such a powerful entity had decided to gift them something, who knows what ‘they’ would’ve wanted in return.
Third guess, ‘unknown’ didn’t mean anything special, it simply signified the inability of his mystic insight and his status window to see through it.
This meant that his unknown and Emma’s unknown had no relation and that many other powerful people across the world could have something similar.
He didn’t want to split his mind by thinking so hard, so instead, he decided to think about something he had learned and not something he had yet to discover.
Seeing Emma’s status window, he couldn’t help but notice her class rank, and notice it was the first time he had come across it…
There were three classes known to the public:
Normal, rare, and epic, but the reality was different, a total of six ranks existed, or at least that’s all he had seen up till that day.
He quickly ruled out the possibility of there being a class higher than legendary, but even if it did exist nothing would’ve changed, he had finally completed the scale.
It went as follows:
-common
-rare
-epic
-mythic
-legendary
And then there was the unique class.
A common class awakened gained two status points every level up, a rare class one gained three, an epic class one gained four, and a legendary class one gained six.
He hadn’t heard it directly from Emma, but he assumed that the mythic class gained five stats every level up.

As for unique classes, their specialty lay in their abilities to improve their stats rapidly without leveling up, but by following their class skill’s advantage.
For example, Caleb was able to quickly grow his physical stats, and the deceased Lars Jensen’s apprentice who had inherited the unique class {Barrier grandmaster} could improve his wisdom as he improved his barrier.
That meant that the unique class could be very strong or weak depending on the said specialty or on the person who wielded it, maybe that was why it was the only class one could obtain even after awakening.
Hans thought about something…
‘If I were to rank my class {knowledge seeker}, I would probably be…’
It wasn’t difficult to tell.
‘I gain five wisdom stat points every level, which would already put me on par with a mythic class, but thanks to the effect of my class skill {almighty knowledge}, every time my wisdom is raised by 10, all my other stats increase once, meaning if I level up twice I effectively gain thirteen stat points.
That means I gain an average of six and a half stat points every level up, already putting me above the legendary class by 0.5 stat per level.
It might not seem much, but it adds up pretty quickly if one raises his level frequently.
Also, thanks to my class skill {knowledge hunger} I have the abilities belonging to a unique class, which allows me to increase my wisdom even without leveling up.
It is clear that my future growth is beyond standards.’
Hans’s reasoning was flawless, but he was soon pulled back in deep thought, he had just realized that he didn’t have an advantage that belonged to high-ranking classes…
‘My… class skills’
Hans’s class skills were obviously incredibly good, they allowed him to grow extremely quickly, and also to enter the plain of darkness, seemingly connecting him to the underworld, but he didn’t have any active class skills.
Class skills got better with the class rarity, and they were unique to a certain class, they couldn’t be passed down or obtained, but they held a great part of the awakened fighting power.
For example, Emma relied on her class skills completely when it came to magic, since otherwise she was just focused on her melee fighting.
But Hans didn’t have any class skills he could use in a battle, making him slightly weaker than he thought he was.
‘What to do if I want to gain a new class skill?’
He pondered silently…
After a while, he came up with a solution, he observed the description of the class skill: {knowledge hunger} and saw a little completion percentage signaled at the bottom of the status window.
It wrote:
Completion rate: 74%.
Hans hadn’t paid much attention to it, since it grew extremely slowly even when he focused on reading for months.
‘Maybe… if this reaches one hundred percent I’ll receive a pleasant surprise’
Hans wasn’t sure but trying wouldn’t hurt.
He decided he wanted to head to a certain place… one of the association’s most important headquarters… Berlin, Germany.
I will try and figure out if I can pass by there before going to the tournament.
Hans was done with his recap, he finally found the energy to get back on his feet.
He approached the door at the corner of his room with a change of clothes in his hands, he opened the door and found a bathroom, just as he expected.
The floor was covered in white clay square tiles, and the bathroom was quite well-kept.
Before walking into the shower, he checked the drawers under the sink and confirmed that there were a few towels he could use when he eventually came out.
He picked them up and froze a second before saying, In a high enough tone for Emma to hear him from the other side of the apartment:
“Can I use the towels under the sink?”
“Yeah, of course, don’t worry about it”
Emma’s voice came back to him.
“Thanks”
He said.
After showering, Hans came out of the steam-covered bathroom and took a breath of fresh hair, his white towel hung around his waist, but it was too humid inside the bathroom to change, so he took the clothes out of there and quickly changed himself just after passing by the door.
Then, he proceeded to walk towards the exit, where the two rooms came together as one.
His hair was still wet, but he had no problem going around like that.
Emma walked up to him.
When they stood one in front of each other, the few centimeters of height difference between them seemed more accentuated.
She watched him in a daze for a few seconds before turning her head sideways.
To Hans’s surprise, she didn’t watch the door, but the ‘reception table’ that stood in front of it just between the two rooms.
Hans observed it carefully with his mystic insight and sensed mana particles below it.
He was surprised for a few seconds…
‘A secret passage…’
But he quickly thought that it made sense.
If it was such a normal place it wouldn’t have been the hideout of the renowned money Maven.
Hans observed the place for a second and then switched his gaze towards Emma.
His eyes asked her something along the lines of:
“What’s down there? Why are we about to go there?”
But the girl sighed before taking a few steps towards the hidden passage.
It was a wooden counter with a little saloon door on its side, Emma pushed open the door with her body and passed by the counter, she then turned behind and waited for Hans to do the same as she said:
“It’ll be easier to show you than to tell you”
