Only Wisdom Awakened - Chapter 253
Chapter 253: A Foggy Sight
“Good luck…
You’re going to need it”
As the beggar said those words, the great door closed and the sound of his steps disappeared, leaving the room at its usual tranquil silence and peace.
The only thing that changed was the kneeling man’s expression, he looked pretty annoyed by the man’s comments.
And he wasn’t the only one bothered by those remarks, the barely outlined expression of the person sitting on the throne changed from calm to troubled, she was
Thinking about something.
A few seconds passed, and the figure on the throne finally made her move.
She partially raised one of her hands, her elbow still lying on the armrest of the throne as she said:
“He’s already here”
The mage frowned at that phrase, and Hans began to worry about his safety.
Not even a second passed from that instant when the whole place had been covered In a little layer of fog.
As Hans levitated in the air to avoid revealing his location by stepping on the fog, the layer that had just been laid on the whole place was beginning to gather into multiple little spheres of fog.
Hans could see it with his eyes… those were all about to bust, probably pointing upwards.
He had nowhere to escape to when those spells burst, his location would probably be revealed… so while it was still hidden from his enemies, Hans thought it would be the perfect time to make a sneak attack.
If he was bound to lose his advantage, either way, he wanted to at least get a heavy hit off of it…
The lady of crimson was still seated on her throne, unbothered by the happenings, she was trying to figure out Hans’ location with her senses, but she couldn’t… it annoyed are a bit.
The black-haired man suddenly felt something…
He turned his head in shock as he witnessed a giant fireball, which resembled a meteor more than a fireball, coming his way…
‘A fifth… no, maybe even sixth-rank spell’
He thought….
‘It is indeed more powerful than normal spells, maybe it could hold its own against a seventh-tier spell if one wasn’t so good at casting it.
…
However!…’
Part of the fog around the room gathered and enclosed the fireball, when it dispersed, there weren’t any remnants left of Hans’s spell.
But then, all of a sudden, the temperature of the previously hot air around him plummeted, transforming into a freezing cold zone.
As the mage’s fingers began to freeze, and the glacial winds showed no signs of stopping, the man understood that if he hadn’t intervened, he would’ve kept the frostbite for the rest of the battle.
Stopping wind with fog… how stupid must one be to try to do that?
And yet, the experienced mage decided to do exactly that.
He raised a wall of fog between him and the source of the spell.
But as expected, the wall didn’t put up any resistance, it simply dissolved at the first burst of cold wind that came its way.

The dispersed fog accompanied the wind to the black-haired mage and settled down, it acted like a cover, but only for a couple of seconds since the following gust of wind would probably completely dispel it.
The black-haired mage made the best use of these few seconds, as he set off all the remaining little spheres of fog, now, the wind almost had no effect, it was like a water bucket trying to extinguish a crater.
It didn’t matter how much the wind hit the fog, in an enclosed place such as that, everything would return to be covered in fog in a few seconds.
The whole giant room was now cast in thick fog, and it was finally the black-haired mage’s showtime.
“Well… doesn’t feel as good when the situation is reversed does it?”
He said.
“You will understand what I mean in a few seconds”
But as he smiled and provoked Hans, a voice talked back to him:
“Don’t misunderstand… the cards on the table… still haven’t changed”
“We will see about that”
The man replied with a straight face,
Then… he began casting, three… five… more than eight seconds passed, if such a capable mage needed such a long time to cast a single spell, then it must’ve been a formidable skill.
The skill casting suddenly stopped as the man felt something behind him… not even the time to turn around, that a blade was a few centimeters from his skin, aimed at his heart.
And there, right behind that blade, the black-haired man could barely see the outlines of a young boy.
At that moment, it really touched him… the thing he had yet to meet even if coming close to it during all those years of being awakened…
Death…
Hans was focused, he had just retracted his legs, preparing to bolt forward and thrust his silver sword into the heart of the man in front of him.
He used his legs as springs and launched himself forward, the tip of his beautiful polished blade was about to scratch the man’s skin when… a strange sensation arose inside of him… the chilly air seemed freezing, and the little droplets of fog he breathed in felt like spikes piercing his throat, and every single instant, his life flashed before his eyes… he realized… maybe a little bit too late… but he realized, that the one who was facing the incurring touch of death wasn’t the black haired man… but himself.
It wasn’t the act of the mage standing petrified in front of him… no, that guy wouldn’t be able to do something like that… it was the job of the only real monster standing inside that room.
Hans instinctively swung his head downwards and changed his stance.
In that instant, a vivid red aura that resembled the color of blood swooshed by, had Hans gone on with his attack, his head would’ve been sent flying.
Hans’s blade pierced and tore through the man’s left lat before the boy lost his balance and had to take a few steps forward to gain it back.
‘I was aiming for the heart…’
He immediately thought, but he soon composed himself and turned around…
There, standing just behind the shocked man, was a shadow.
It was taller than the man, who was already slightly above average.
‘Tch…’
After he had analyzed both of his opponents, Hans realized he wouldn’t have much of a chance of fighting both of them at the same time…
The lady of crimson was a monster and helped by an eight-rank mage, it might’ve been impossible for Hans to kill her.
For that reason, he had decided to take down the man first, if he used the fog barrier of the man to his advantage, he could kill him without any interference from the crimson lady…
But it didn’t go as planned, he was now lost inside the fog… finding the mage’s location was easy, but if he tried to attack him then the crimson lady would take the chance to kill him.
He barely managed to avoid her attack the first time, there was no telling if he could do it again.
And even if finding the mage was easy, the same couldn’t be said about the woman…
She was fast… really fast…

Hans couldn’t find any way to get out of that terrible situation, that beast of a woman could attack him at any time, in such a state, making himself even more vulnerable by trying to escape was not the best option.
‘Alright… let’s try this!’
Hans backed up, slowly, without making any hast movements that could allow the woman to bypass his defense or catch him off guard.
His eyes worked just fine even inside that fog since he could detect his surroundings to a certain extent even without seeing them.
He slowly backed away, wary of any incoming attacks… he blinked once, and a figure appeared in front of him.
Hans still couldn’t see her face, but he was sure it was the crimson lady.
He immediately turned to the side and took a step back, evading her attack.
When the woman’s hands stopped a few centimeters from the ground, a loud crash resounded through the room and part of the whole pavement was destroyed.
Hans, just a few steps away from her, was bounced away by the shockwave created by the attack.
His feet were lifted off the ground, and his body was hanging in the air…
In the bat of an eye, the woman appeared beside him, ready to hit him with her knee from below.
Hans managed to catch a glimpse of the figure and moved his body to the side with his telekinesis, hoping to regain his stance.
His feet touched the ground, but he still hadn’t regained his balance when a claw appeared in front of his eyes.
He watched Death in the face as sweat ran down his forehead and his mouth curved into a faint nervous smile…
…
‘I got her!’
