Only Wisdom Awakened - Chapter 283
Chapter 283: Hook
He was the one… who had erected the incredible protective array around the MAVI.
Hans was surprised…
To think he would find him so quickly…
He observed silently as the exchange between the two evolved, and only opened his mouth after being questioned by the old man Lu.
“Leaving important things aside, I came here because I detected someone entering this floor, I don’t remember such a young face among our ranks”
He said as he stared at Hans.
That was one of the first times in his life that Sra. Vargaz supported him in an argument, simply remaining silent as she also watched the young man.
Hans scratched the back of his head as he sighed before saying.
“I guess I’ll have to introduce myself to both of you…
My name’s Hans, I am a mage from America even though I was born in Italy.
I came here simply because I would like to access the library in this place, I heard it’s the largest in the world, and I am really curious to see what it’s like.
If the association spent so much money making it, it would be a real shame if almost no one was allowed to see it.”
“Well, I am sorry to disappoint you then”
The woman who had been staring at him all that time finally spoke, resulting in Hans switching his gaze toward her.
“Why?”
“The library we have built here isn’t just any library, it is made with the sole purpose of transferring information to future generations, but that’s not the problem, the problem’s that other than countless spells skills, and various abilities’ description that are stored in there, there are also important matters that if leaked could not only compromise the Association or many other guilds, but also cast the whole world in fear and panic.
Nothing that’s kept in there can ever be revealed to someone who’s not one of the honorary leaders or leaders.”
She was strict and direct with her words, the message she had conveyed to Hans was that no matter his efforts, he would have never gotten the chance to access the library.
Hans was annoyed… he closed his eyes for a second as he pinched the bridge of his nose.
‘I knew it… I shouldn’t have lost so much time trying to do this the nice way.
Consequences? I need these books to grow beyond my level, and I will do anything in my power to get to them.
When I’m strong enough, I’m sure I’ll figure out the rest, I’ve put off the date of my fight for too long If I lose this chance to grow stronger, the snake might reach a level I can’t fathom by the time I’m ready to face it.
It is not something that can be postponed anymore.’
Hans spread his mana throughout the room, it wasn’t aggressive, instead, it gave off an eerie feeling that made both the two honorary leaders beside him shiver.
Humans have a strange ability, one science cannot explain nor comprehend, it is possessed by every single one of them, awakened or not.
There are times when the hairs on your body rise uncontrollably, a shiver runs down your spine and you cannot comprehend why….
But when you turn around, you see two eyes staring at you…
No matter who… maybe a stranger, maybe one of your friends, maybe a member of your family…
Whoever it is, whenever they stare at you, you can feel their gaze piercing you…
That… was the only way to describe what the two were feeling.

They could not stop their goosebumps as their worried expressions met.
Hans was just sitting there with his eyes still closed, but it felt like a pair of eyes was fixed on both of them…
And they weren’t wrong…
Hans was analyzing them with his mana, something convenient to avoid someone catching him as he read their status windows.
He knew… exactly how to act.
Hans opened his amber-colored eyes that reflected a weak luster that was barely strong enough to shine in the dimly lit office.
He stared at the woman like a hunter looking at his prey, but that was nothing but a bluff.
He had to fight two people at the level of an SS rank, and he would then also have to face the other two honorary leaders residing on the sixth floor.
He knew that the woman in front of him was a melee fighter, which meant he could easily escape from her or attack her from the distance.
If he took into consideration that the other two might have been either one mage and one fighter or two fighters or mages, Hans knew that there was one main variable in that fight…
The array master.
He was currently defenseless but that might change very soon, and In a prolonged fight, he might have been able to create trouble for him.
Hans knew he could bypass every array the old man would lay down, but he had no confidence in doing it while fighting against three top-level awakened.
He had already disclosed the information that he was a mage, and his mana should have confirmed that in the minds of the two people in front of him, which meant he could attack physically, surprising them.
As soon as he found the chance, Hans would sprint toward the old man and either grab him or attack him.
He knew the stats of the old man were high enough to keep him alive.
Then, as soon as he was done with him, he would either incapacitate or damage the woman as much as possible.
If he managed to do that, then he would also manage to attack the other two by taking them off guard, he could fake being a subordinate of the man.
Hans didn’t know anything about Mr.Lu, but even if he were to be known for always working alone, from what he had seen, he was an unserious person who could change ideas any time of the day…
If he managed to trap those four, then information about him would not leak, and he would create a mana pact to avoid any of them reporting or talking about what happened.
With that, he would gain access to the library…
It wasn’t what one would call neither legal nor morally right, but it was the shortest route Hans could find.
‘It seems like… I won’t have any time to go to London’
Hans’s muscles charged up, they weren’t tense yet, but as soon as he wanted to, he was ready to spring toward the old man.
Any moment could be the right time… Hans was just waiting for him to get a minimum of distraction.
But before he could do that, an interesting question that could have worked in his favor if he answered it right came out of the woman’s mouth.
“I understand what drove you here…
What I don’t understand is…
Who let you in here?”
Curious about it, the old man was also waiting patiently for a reply.
“Why would I need anyone’s permission to get in here?”
The boy answered.
His tone and behavior had changed, he wasn’t as kind as earlier anymore, and he sounded like he was bothered by her question.
“Even though we support freedom, this island is the core of many important activities, access is restricted to anyone who cannot be trusted without a doubt.”
Hans switched his gaze to the old man, who was watching him incredulously.
“Is that so? Prohibited? Well then, I guess I have no business here anymore.”
He waited a moment before adding:
“This is how the association handles things?…
Disappointing”
Hans got up from his seat and turned around, he walked towards the door without a hint of hesitation, leaving the other two speechless.
“…”
After a second of hesitation, the woman got up from her seat and slammed her hand against the table.
“Where do you think you’re going?!
Don’t take another step or else!!…”
The boy stopped… he was still giving his back to the woman, but a few beads of sweat formed on her forehead.
‘Shit!…’
She had made a mistake and immediately realized…
Raising her voice in anger was definitely the one thing she should not have done.
From the very start, the only reason she even bothered playing along with Hans’s request…
Was because she could see it…
The young man who had presented himself in her office was…
Strong.
And she had confirmed this when she felt his mana spread around the room.
Feeling superior because she had a reliable ally and annoyed by the boy’s behavior, she mistakenly acted arrogantly and threatened him….
Now, things had taken a bad turn, and Hans’s prey had hooked the bait.
He turned his head slowly completely ignoring the man standing a few meters from him and staring right into the woman’s eyes.
For some strange reason, his eyes full of killing intent stood out in the dark, enveloping his gaze in a golden-red aura.
His voice had become deeper, and his one and only eye staring at the woman was enough to make her feel like someone was piercing her soul.
Just a few words came out of his mouth:
“Or else…
What?”
