Only Wisdom Awakened - Chapter 289 289
Chapter 289: Abby
It was simply mind-blowing…
The conditioned casting was a spell that Caelan managed to gasp only after becoming an archmage.
This wasn’t without any reason…
It was a spell that had some kind of intelligence… it needed to differentiate an incredible threat or danger from any other feeling, and only then it was supposed to go off…
If one wanted to put it in another way… it was a spell that had to interfere with the world and feel that something was happening…
Caelan had no idea what it meant, but in a certain sense, if anyone ever wanted to build an artificial intelligence through magic, that would probably be the best spell to start their research on.
Hans simply lay there, on the last floor of the building as he gasped for the lack of oxygen.
After a couple of minutes, he got up and sat in a lotus position before beginning to meditate according to the {divine frost meditation} Caelan had passed to him.
Even though it was a ninth-tier meditation technique, Hans had only mastered up to the eighth layer, meaning it was equal if not slightly better than an eight-tier technique at the moment.
He meditated for about half an hour to recover about a twelfth of his mana before finally glancing in the distance once again.
Before he began meditating, in the sky were barely recognized a few rays of light that symbolized the incoming morning rising sun, and as soon as he was done, three-fourths of the sun had already emerged from the horizon, painting the not-so-clear sky in an orange and golden hue.
Hans observed the masterpiece created by Mother Nature before taking a few steps forward and jumping off, letting the air whip his air and his clothes around, and his body precipitated down the colossal skyscraper, on his chest, the little white snake became more and more worried every passing second she didn’t see Hans using his telekinesis to lift them up.
The chaotic sound caused by the wind resistance made Hans’ ears go deaf for a few seconds, and the strong wind also made it difficult for him to open his eyes, he could barely see as the street below him closed onto his body every time he blinked.
In that chaotic situation, Hans took a deep breath…
Before his body could touch the ground, he deviated his flight and sprinted forward, finally opening his eyes again as he cast a little barrier around himself.
It always bothered him a bit having the wind blow into his eyes as he flew, but he usually didn’t cast a barrier since it reduced his speed.
Ember finally managed to rest as she wrapped herself around Hans’s torso, and the boy now had a set destination in mind.
“Abby’s taming center… was it?
Here I come”
It took him less than five minutes to reach his destination, he wasn’t flying at the maximum speed he could manage simply because there was no need to, first of all, he was pretty tired from all the attempts he had made during the last few hours, and secondly, he didn’t have much mana, even if he could fly for about one hour with the mana he had left, that amount of time would halve if he tried going even ten percent faster, it simply wasn’t worth it, considering the fact that he would avoid wasting more time flying slowly since if he consumed a lot of mana he would then have to replenish it by meditating.
He also had to keep his stealth on since if he didn’t, then there would probably be many people taking photos of him and posting them online, or shouting to get his attention.
I mean, even in a world with awakened and mana, it doesn’t happen every day to see someone flying above your head.
He found an empty alley and landed right there as he removed his stealth, he then proceeded to turn right after the corner and walk a few hundred meters before reaching the taming center.
It was almost eight in the morning, meaning the shop had been open for more than half an hour.
There was a reason why Hans wasn’t in a rush to reach this place… he had checked it online and…

It was… empty… desolate.
Not a single soul entered Hans’s sight apart from the lady who stood behind the counter, laying her head on her arms, which were laid on the counter and crossed as if forming a pillow.

She was… well, sleeping?
“Good morning”
Hans said as he set foot inside the building.
The space was clearly well-kept:
No sign of dust anywhere, no dirty corners, and every piece of furniture seemed to be brand new.
The entrance wasn’t much different from a normal convenience store’s, but as soon as he set foot inside the room, he was greeted by a wide place.
On his left were lined up a couple of comfortable seats, and on his right were placed many monitors displaying various documentaries and explanations about mutated animals and beasts.
In front of him was an L-shaped white counter with a little opening at the end, it covered the entire right corner of the room, and it was there that the young woman was resting.
The entire room was white and grey with the exception of the seats, which were covered in red cushions.
The woman seemed to not notice the arrival of a client, even if Hans was already just a few meters away from her.
‘Should… should I just leave?
As expected, you shouldn’t trust places without reviews’
This was Hans’s immediate reasoning, but the only thing that kept him there was the fear of not finding anyone else who could possibly do what he needed them to.
After all, the reason why he had chosen that place despite the lack of trustability and information regarding it, was because he had no other choice.
Hans decided to analyze the surroundings first, he raised his head, disregarding the woman for a few seconds as he stared at the corridor situated on the left corner.
It seemed to lead to an open room with a great vivarium, it also seemed to hold all kinds of monitors, electronic devices, and temperature and humidity regulators.
Without a doubt, the place looked very professional…
It also didn’t lack advertising since Hans immediately found it as soon as he searched for something similar…
Could the reason why this whole thing didn’t work…
Be the personnel?
Hans asked himself as he turned his head towards the sleeping woman once again.
This time he was sure, even just to satisfy his curiosity, he wanted to know what they could do for him and for Ember.
Also… the woman seemed to be quite experienced, she herself was a B-rank awakened, even if she wasn’t particularly strong and battle-oriented, her unique class {beast tamer} made her seem reliable.
Just a few centimeters from where the woman’s head was resting, a little brass bell was placed on the counter.
Hans walked up to it and lightly tapped the top of the bell, causing a loud “tin” sound to echo throughout the room and reach the woman’s ears many times over.
Finally, after a couple of seconds, the woman finally showed signs of life.
She lifted her head, facing Hans as she tried to figure out what was happening, her vision was blurry and she found it difficult to open her eyes.
Hans observed the person in front of him.
She had blonde wavy hair, sharp facial features, and a thin pair of glasses that seemed to have miraculously survived her little nap even while being crushed by her head.
She was without a doubt a woman one could call attractive, but Hans wasn’t there for that, and her face wouldn’t have influenced his opinion of that place, he had to find someone he could entrust Ember to, just looks weren’t enough.
Still half asleep, the woman straightened her back, she was seated on a normal office chair with five wheels detached from the central leg instead of a normal chair with four legs.
She pushed herself away as she rubbed her pointer finger’s knuckles on her eyes.
When she finally came to a realization that she had fallen asleep at her workplace, she immediately entered a state of guilt and regret, as little beads of sweat started forming on her forehead.
“G-g-good morning, I’m sorry I didn’t mean to
Ah! Look at the time! I completely messed up! I’m sorry! It isn’t usually like this, however this morning I had to get up early and fix the central vivarium’s temperature regulation code, otherwise some animals might feel uncomfortable. It was perfect for reptiles but slightly less convenient for mammals, because of that, I recently had to buy two more vivariums, and the central computer seems to be unable to-”
Hans’ ears were on the verge of bleeding from the woman’s endless yapping.
He finally opened his mouth to put an end to the woman’s annoying rumbling.
“I need to leave my pet to you.
Can you take care of it:
Yes or No”
Hans underlined the last part, hinting at the fact that he had no intention of listening to a few other minutes of nonsense.
