Only Wisdom Awakened - Chapter 73
Chapter 73: Students
‘It’s been six days since I’ve come to the academy, tomorrow is the official opening day, and all the students will arrive this evening or this night.
I’ve already memorized the whole schedule of the program I’ll have to teach them, the only thing is that almost Half of the classes won’t be following a scripted schedule, so I’ll have to improvise, and create some lectures based on the rhythm of the classroom.
If some of the students are particularly bad, I might even need to repeat some lessons, that wouldn’t be ideal, but I don’t really care, as soon as I can, I’ll dash out of here.
For now, let’s try to fix this damaged body of mine.
As he sat in a lotus position, his meditation skill: {lotus Meditation} activated, and for the three hours he spent meditating, the process of expelling the mana from his body became ten times faster.
When he finally opened his eyes once again, and came to realize how beneficial this had been for his body, he was rejoiced.
If it was like this: teaching during the day and meditating during the night, it would’ve taken him only a month, maxim two, to recover his strength.
Lunch time approached, and Hans walked out of his dormitory, even if the site was quite distant from any big town, all the necessities for the students and the teachers could be found inside the academy.
In between the five buildings were many stands and restaurants, even some clothing stores.
The whole campus, apart from the school part, was basically an open sky mall.
Hans got to the Pizza Hut he had recently become accustomed to, and ordered a couple of slices.
He ate heartily, and paid before leaving, making his way towards the main building.
There was a small reunion among all the professors to celebrate the start of the year, even if this little party was just a little pretext to decide the internal hierarchy of the teachers, that even if never said explicitly or shown outside to the students, has always been present in many schools.
To hans, this all sounded really bothering, but it was compulsory to attend, so he had no choice.
Bored, he sat on one of the seats around the oval table, and then waited in silence for the meeting to end.
All sorts of delicacies soon begun to be served in large plates, brought by the waiters.
Seafoods, meats, fruits, everything one could think of was on that table, but none of the people seemed surprised by them.
‘I guess it’s different for rich people’ though Hans, not even realizing he had officially already gained the status of a “rich person”.
They all ate, and only Hans’ plate remained clean, not touched by any kind of food.
He hadn’t read the invitation, so he didn’t know it would be a meal, reason why he had already eaten.
He was expecting something way more formal and boring, and he was now asking himself whether it would’ve been better that way, or how it was now, sitting there while all the other glazed at him for not eating anything.
When someone finally decided to speak up, Hans just replied he had already stopped by the Pizza Hut, causing a few of the younger professors to smile.
Even if he was the youngest, it wasn’t like all the professors were old.
Many were considered quite young, but they had all achieved extraordinary results.
The only reason why such people would accept the job of a teacher, is not only the large amount of money offered by the association, that surpassed even A-rank awakened income, but also having the honor to have taught some of the students who could’ve become really influential or important people.
Not everyone thought like that of course, some where interested in finding an apprentice, and others just wanted to contribute to the country.
The people that held the conversation during the whole lunch were two in particular:
the main instructor, Jackson Taylor, a middle aged man with some of his hair already whitening,
And Scarlet Evans, the intellectual department professor, a woman that leaked hatred from her eyes.
‘I’m sorry for the students’ thought Hans, hearing her temper during the lunch.

When they were finally set free, Hans roamed around the place, and got a seat in a sunbucks near the entrance of the facility.
It was completely empty apart from the employee, but this was just the calm before the crowd of students would arrive.
He ordered a hot milk, to remind himself of Aiden, and got real cozy on the fluffy couch.
Half an hour passed before some cars parked right outside the entrance gate, coming out of them were various youngsters, one after the other they passed through the entrance, and walked along the main street, observing and admiring the space they would stay in for the next five years.
They all brought along huge bags, that probably contained all their clothes and necessities.
But considering this whole place, and the monthly allowance that would be given to them by the association, it wasn’t really necessary.
Hans watched all of the students passing from the bar’s window, hiding himself with {stealth}
Even if his magic was drastically reduced, it was still enough to shield him from the sight of those greenhorns, and it would’ve been embarrassing if someone noticed him staring at his students.
Finally, after all the cars had left, one last black one arrived, when coming out of the car, the driver went behind, and opened the door for the passenger.
“You’re finally here” said Hans.
“Aiden”
After the events that happened last week, Aiden begged Hans to teach him how to fight, but he deemed it as too dangerous, and decided to refuse.
But when he was forced to attend the academy, instead of leaving him alone in Chicago, it was better for Aiden to accompany him, obviously, not as an assistant, but as a student.
They couldn’t stay together all day, but they would see each other even more than what they normally did.
It was part of the deal made with the association.
As long as the instructor for the magic class: Hans Richter, will act as a substitute for one year, the student, Aiden Everly, will gain the right to attend the hunter academy for as long as he wishes.
This was obviously only permitted since Aiden was an awakened, but it was still an exception the fact that a normal awakened with a common class like his would be accepted.
Obviously, not all students had a rare or higher class, but those with common classes didn’t have normal ones, but specific ones.
For example, if a normal class would be {knight} a specific one would be something like {spearman} or {swordsman} and if a normal class would be {mage} a specific would be like {fire mage} or {ice mage}.
Having so little talent, it would’ve been difficult for Aiden to shine, or even adapt among the attendees, so in order to make him live peacefully inside the academy, Hans planned to advance him to the unique class: {master alchemist}.
Hans was also really curious about something.
The classes ranks went like this:
Common,
Rare,
Epic,
Legendary.
Where would the unique one be placed?
Common class gave everyone two stats for every level up, the rare gave three, the epic gave four, and the legendary gave six.
Was the unique above epic and below legendary?
Then why was it called that way?
It had nothing to do with the other names.
‘It’s useless to guess, I’ll discover it when he advances, for now, I’ll keep my doubts’
Hans left the bar, and went back to his dorm, he avoided sticking with Aiden too much to allow him to make friends.
Otherwise they would’ve always stood with each other.
And even if Hans didn’t dislike Aiden, it was better for him to make friends of the same age.
The night was passed meditating, and the sunrise too, only when the star was already fully visible, Hans started preparing to go outside.
He took a shower, he shaved his beard, he dressed up nicely, and then he finally left the dormitory.
On his way out, he encountered Caleb Harris, the physical education teacher, and they decided to head on to the entrance ceremony together.
Chatting a bit with him, Hans couldn’t understand why the people back at the association gathering called Caleb a monster, but not ready to ruin the only good impression he had probably made on the other teachers, he contained his curiosity, and decided to avoid asking.
When they entered the room, no students were present, but as they seated down in the first row, they soon heard many footsteps.
All the students took their places in less than five minutes, and the ceremony officially began.
The LA association leader, no, even better, the dean got on stage, pointed by the lights.
And while everyone was watching her mesmerized, Hans had other problems:
“Hmm, it seems like I’m forgetting something”
‘Oh no!!! I promised two times but I still haven’t brought Aiden to the party!
Maybe I should organize one just to keep my word”
