Only Wisdom Awakened - Chapter 84
Chapter 84: Secret observers
During the next week and a half, the students were trained by Hans all day, only leaving for other classes, meals, and the restroom.
They didn’t even sleep, getting rid of tiredness with a simplified version of the lotus meditation technique taught to them by Hans.
As a result of meditating so many hours every day, on just the fourth day, their wisdom already showed signs of improvement, and when their training had been completed, most people advanced a little bit further towards the next circle, some of them even managing to break through.
When the day of the challenge was just twenty four hours apart, hans decided to free all the students and let them get a good rest before the battle.
Truth to be told, Hans had something to do.
Late that night, he got out of his office, heading towards Caleb’s one.
When he arrived in front of the door, he knocked two times, and a shout soon came from the other side.
As if he was out of breath, Caleb said loudly: “I’m coming!!”
When thirty seconds later, he opened the door, Hans could finally see his body covered in sweat and various dumbbells on the ground.
‘This guy…….. did he make his private office into a personal gym?’
“Hahaha, it’s you! What have you come here for? need some help with physical training?”
“Well.. next time for sure, but I have to tell you something important, mind if I come in a second?”replied Hans.
Caleb immediately said:
“How could I? Come on in”
When Hans set foot in there, the foul smell of sweat took over his nose.
Bet managing to bear with it, he sat down on a training bench.
“Caleb, do you have an idea about what is going on with our students during these last few days?”
“Going on with our students? Nothing much they just started training enthusiastically.
why you as-
Wait… since when did they have the heart to do that? Seems like something really is wrong.
Do you know something?”
“Yes, so the fact is…
Hans explained what was about to happen, and how he came to know of it, leaving out the part that he had been training them just for this.
..
“What… do those brats think they’re doing?!
To challenge another class without even telling me…
I can’t believe I’ve failed so much as a teacher, it seems like I’ll have to reeducate them a little bit”
The man clenched his fist tightly, scaring a bit Hans with the visible veins on his arm and his forehead.
‘P.E. Teachers sure are different’ though Hans pitying the class that would’ve gotten a beating.
“This matter needs a trough punishment”

“Yes, but not now”
“What do you mean not now?”
“Competition could also be a good mean to train them, just look at the results they have been showing in the past week”
‘Indeed, the guys have been growing exponentially, if it continues like this, there might even be some of them that will surpass us in the next five years’
“But what should we do about the challenge then? Should we officialise and postpone it?”
“No, let’s leave them do their own thing, we’ll go there secretly and spectate, we’ll only step in if someone is in grave danger”
While saying those words, Hans was actually thinking:
‘There is no way I will ruin my students’ fun after training them for so long’
“What do you think?”
“This… fine, I’ll follow your advice”
“Nice, see you tomorrow then, I’ll come and find you when it’s about to begin”
“Ok, see you”
When Hans had already left, Caleb couldn’t help but sigh.
“Sigh! My dumb students, you have challenged someone without telling me, so you should at least win.
If you dare let me down,
ill double your punishment !”
A chill run down the spines of all the physical education students.
The next evening..
The sun’s color was already changing, as the first signs of the sunset begun to appear.
In the middle of the woods, the leaves took on a lucent orange color, painted by the sun.
And the refreshing occasional whispers of wind made the trees tremble a little bit.
Two groups were in front of each other, totalizing about seventy people.
And in the distance, seated on two opposite branches of the same tree, were Hans and Caleb.
They both observed their students attitude and how different it was when they weren’t present.
In one of the group, a woman spoke up, she had brown hair and was embraced by a muscular guy.
“What? So you didn’t run away? Hehe”
She referred to the students of the magic class, that hearing those words got even more worked up than what they already were.
A hot headed student from the other side with silver hair didn’t waste time before replying:
“Talk about us running away the moment you get out of the protection of a man’s arms.
What is it? You’re too scared to even stand so you need him to help you?”
Beside her, Logan watched her with astonished eyes, and thought to himself:
‘Oh, way to go Claire! I hope we’ll never cross paths as enemies, I’m sure that your viper tongue would be enough to get me killed because of anger.’
The first girl who had spoken pushed the man away from her, and immediately replied to the provocation: “you whore, do you think you’re pretty with that horrible face of yours, I’m sure even dogs run away when they see you”
As if she had become the incarnation of a gangster, Claire made herself big and talked disrespectfully:
“Huh? you wanna die?”
‘This….’
Both sides ashamed of their members, two representatives stepped forward.
For the mage class, Colton Hayes spoke, while for the warriors, came forward a guy with blonde hairs and a well proportioned body.
He wasn’t huge like some of his teammates.
“I’m sorry for her” talked first Colton.
“No, I’m ashamed as well” replied the guy.
“We have an idea for the challenge, how about a knockout one against one match?
We’ll both send seven people from each side, and the first to reach four is the final winner.
All means and weapons are permitted as long as they don’t put the opponent’s life in danger.
Do you agree?”
Everyone present knew that this type of challenge was favourable for the warriors, mages are known for needing an aid.
A mage alone cannot bring out even half of his full potential, but despite knowing all that, the reply to this question could only be one:
“Yes”
Five minutes of discussion was all it took for them to come up with the fighters.
For the mage side they would be:
1 David Miller.
Magic user and fighter, incredibly talented.(has passed five days in the infirmary after being slammed against the wall by Hans)
2 Claire carter.
Talented mage that knows how to beat up people with her fist (daughter of the Vortex guild guild leader)
3 Colton Hayes.
Incredibly powerful mage for his age (winner of the first duel organized by Hans)
4 Logan Archer.
A smart young man with amazing analytical abilities, after being guided by Hans into a stage of mana influx, his mana sensitivity has been raising daily. (winner of the second duel organized by Hans)
5 Austin Daniels.
A young mage with a common class but incredible control over mana and battle IQ.( winner of the fourth spar organized by Hans)
6 Lila Harper.
Holder of the rare class, {enchantress} can cast powerful illusionary spells.
(was awakened with the ability {magic eye})
7 Kai Coleman.
A talented young man with an incredibly high affinity for the light element. ( stood out during Hans’ lessons)
With the setup chosen, the only thing left to do was simple:
“Win”
David Miller walked out of the crowd, facing alone the other group, and soon, they replied sending someone.
A tough looking guy, with a height surpassing two meters (6’5) and two arms resembling cannons.
David was a student of both classes, but his choice of siding with the mage class was because of their teacher.
He had developed some kind of PTSD, he not only could not look Hans in the eyes, he also thought that he was being watched.
‘I’m sure of it, that bastard must be watching us right now’ he thought.
In the meantime, Hans:
“Achoo”
“Shh, you’re going to get us discovered” scolded Caleb.
“I’m sorry it just happened”
…
His decision was wise, but seen from the perspective of the other class, he was just a traitor.
“I won’t go easy on you scum” said the opponent.
“Oh my, I’m trembling from the fear” replied David ironically.
“Then, let the fight start!”
Before any of them could make a move however…
“Rustle, rustle”
The bushes on the side made strange noises.
“Who is there?!” Shouted loud the tough looking guy.
And soon, all the hidden students came out of the green.
Amongst them, were two guys that stood in front.
Seeing one of them triggered the fury of Hans, that was watching the scene from afar.
“Aiden?!
Not only did you get drunk now you also assist to illegal fights.
Seems like you haven’t had enough.
In that case..
I wont go so easy on you the next time!”
