Only Wisdom Awakened - Chapter 90
Chapter 90: Inquiry
“What… is going on here?”
Before letting the chance to ask slip, the woman turned around, and questioned Hans:
“What happened? How did all of them faint? And how is it that you’re the only one awake?”
Bothered by the attitude of the woman, he considered just walking away Ignoring her, but for the sake of quickly going to sleep, he just replied making an extremely short summary of the events.
“An S-rank fought with Caleb, took a drug to win, and run away after experiencing the side effects, as for the students, we were doing an… innovative experience of cross training.
I’m sure that when they wake up, those on the ground will explain the rest to you.
Well then, if I may excuse myself.”
Hans just walked away, yawning every couple of seconds.
Using so much mana and getting so beat up, his energy had been depleted, and he was now grieving for some sleep.
As soon as he touched the pillow with his head, his eyelids shut close, and he fell into a deep sleep.
For more than a few hours, none of the students showed signs of waking up, and the dean had a serious doubt on whether she should’ve gone to ask Hans what happened in detail, or if she should’ve just left him sleep in peace.
Actually quite timid, she decided to avoid going to bother Hans, and patiently waited for the students to wake up.
Unsurprisingly, the first one to wake up was Colton, probably the strongest student of the magic class.
“The woman Immediately rushed towards him as soon as he opened his eyes.”
“How are you, can you recall what happened?”
She was stopped by the doctors that held her for a minute, insisting that the patient had to rest for a little bit longer.
Just like that, the dean of the academy, the branch leader of Los Angeles, and an S-rank awakened, had been left waiting two times in the same night.
Colton lifted up his chest, watching all around him, he was laying down on an hospital bed, and beside him were almost other twenty beds, even if the infirmary wasn’t small, it couldn’t hold all the injured students, so most of them were put in classes emptied of their desks.
He touched his temple, but he didn’t feel his skin, instead, a bandage was wrapped around his head.
A voice surprised him:
“I wouldn’t remove that, it may look like a normal one but it’s made with a skill, it should help with your mental damage.”
Talking was a young man, that, just as Colton, had blue hairs.
He was the one who had just sent the dean outside of the room to aid the student’s rest, the infirmary’s doctor.
“Brain.. damage?” Whispered Colton, with his hand still on his head.
“Yes, do you not remember anything?”
“Remember? Remember what-
The images of what he experienced the previous night came up in his head, and his breathing got heavier, while his body begun sweating.
‘Tap’
A hand was laid on his shoulder, bringing him out of the intense nightmare.
“Calm down, even tough you may have experienced something extremely traumatic, it is all over now, rest for a bit, and call me when you feel like you should be able to stand up.”

Just like him, many others started to wake up during the following hour.
Only Caleb would’ve continued lying in his bed for almost two days.
After most of them were awake, they were called by the dean to explain the story.
Just her presence was enough to apply pressure on the fifteen students that were currently standing in front of her desk.
“I am happy to see that you’ve all recovered magnificently, now, my dear students, if you allow me, I would like to hear what has happened in detail from you”
“Hans has already told us about what happened in a few words.”
“Uhm, if I may, could you tell us what teacher told you?”
Asked Claire.
The woman sighed…
“He literally just told us this:
The students were having a spar, an S-rank showed up, he took a drug to beat Caleb, and he run away after experiencing the backlash of the powerful tonic.”
Out of all the students, the blonde guy from the warrior’s class thought in his mind:
‘That’s utter bullshit.
I have seen for myself what he was capable of, and he clearly threatened the S-rank that beat teacher of wiping out his whole association’
But before he could speak, Colton took the initiative:
“Yes, that’s almost all there is to it, but I would like to add some details.
While we were having a friendly competition, a sixth rank mage showed up, and almost killed one of our fellow classmates, but fortunately sir Caleb stepped in, quickly taking care of him.
Once he was done with the mage however, a fighter appeared, and from the first time we saw him, everyone could tell he was even more powerful than the already subdued threat.
While teacher Caleb went ahead to fend him off, teacher Hans remained with us, to avoid letting us get caught in another ambush.
The sounds in the distance were really loud, and the noise of the forest being razed to the ground reached every student’s ears.
As students, we obviously hoped that teacher Caleb would have been able to take on the opponent, but the man returned with the body of the fainted instructor.
At that moment, most of us fainted from that monster’s pressure, I’m quite sure he used some skill to make all of us faint.
And that is all, I then woke up here, confused and scared, like the rest of us probably did.”
“Mh, I understand”
That wasn’t the truth, since the students had actually all fainted by experiencing Hans’ mana and skill, but almost no one was aware of this.
Only one person in the room was, and he did his best to not spill everything he had seen, because he thought that there had to be a good reason as for why Hans decided to hide the truth.
And also, having associated the fearsome mana he felt with Hans’ face, differently from the others, that had been traumatised by the attacker, he had almost developed a trauma related to Hans.
Even if externally she agreed, her mind was wondering whether that was really what happened.
Why would have the enemy come back if he knew it wouldn’t be long before receiving the backlash of the drug? And in that case, why didn’t Hans just follow him and kill him while he was in a weakened state.
A slight feeling of doubt began sprouting in her mind, but it still wasn’t time to show it.
“Okay, thank you for your cooperation, you’re free to go.”
They walked away, but just as the first one of them stepped out of the room, she added:
“Also, don’t think I’ll buy this whole friendly spar thing, something is definitely fishy, not only you didn’t alert the academy, but it was also being held during the sunset, in the forest, I might not be the smartest person to ever set foot on the planet, but I definitely am no fool.
I’ll make the disciplinary committee get to the bottom of this matter, and you will all be held responsible.
Go and enjoy your last few hours of freedom before I confine all you inside your rooms.”
The students rushed out, leaving the worried woman thinking in her office.
‘Haaa, Hans, Hans, are you perhaps..
Working together with them?
Let’s hope not.
However, it’s better to be safe than sorry, I will ask the association for the deployment of one of the ten satellites upon Hans.
I can’t just bet an academy hoping to be right.
….
Somewhere in Europe..
An old man was sitting on his leather couch, watching the lights of the chaotic city during the night.
His pale face seemed annoyed, and his eyes empty.
On the little marble table just beside him, was an unopened red wine bottle and a clean wine glass.
He sighted, as he heard the footsteps of someone coming towards his office.
‘For god’s sake, can’t they leave me in peace at least during the night?’
He thought.
About twenty seconds later, someone was about to knock on the door, when the old man said annoyed: “come in”
The hand that was about to knock stopped, and the other took the handle, pushing it down to open the door.
“For what reason have you come to disturb me at this hour of the night?”
“Sir something unusual has happened in one of the American branches.”
“And what would that be?”
“One of the branch leaders, more precisely, the Los Angeles branch leader, has requested the use of a satellites in order to monitor one of the teachers of the new academy project.
His name is Hans richter, and as for the reason… she said she had suspicions about him being part of, or having dealt with the Red tyranny”
“The Red tyranny huh? I guess that really is no good, I accept, tell her we will be monitoring him until all his accusations turn out either true or false.”
“And don’t disturb my night, I intend to sleep another bit”
“I’m sorry to say this sir, but I don’t think you’ll have time to do that”
“Why is it?” He asked curiously to the assistant.
“There sir” he said watching behind the old man.
“The sun is already rising”
