Chapter 1028: Talk about luck!
[Warning: Some parts of this chapter contain sensitive scenes.]
Little did Hugo know, someone that very night fit the description the man had told him.
Someone who found the place without an invitation, who pretended to be an invitee, and someone who didn’t fit the criteria.
Talk about luck!
If Patricia had found that letter much sooner, perhaps she would’ve met the previous boss and he might’ve found her entertaining enough. But alas, unbeknownst to her, whoever had told her about the location of the Information Center wanted her dead.
“Ahh!” Another loud squeal escaped Patricia as she was tossed inside an abandoned house. She hit her back against the torn-down wall. Despite the additional pain in her body, Patricia quickly scooped herself up and hugged her knees.
“No more,” she muttered shakily, pushing herself away from the men standing a few steps from her. “Please. I take it back. Don’t kill me.”
The three men looked at each other, one of them lighting up a cigarette. He was the one who had sat in the front passenger seat. After taking a long drag and puffing the smoke into the air, he snapped his eyes at Patricia and then at the other man who had beaten her ruthlessly.
“The orders are orders,” said the man with the cigarette. “Just make sure that once you’re done with her, you do what needs to be done.”
“Nice!”
The one in command of the group of three jerked his chin, shifting his eyes to the third man. “Let’s get out of here.”
“This place always gives me the creeps — geez!” the third person rubbed his shoulders while looking around.
With that, the two men walked off as if they weren’t leaving a poor girl at the gates of hell. As soon as the door creaked closed, the man left behind slowly set his eyes on Patricia. The side of his mouth twisted into a wicked smile, his eyes oozing with lust and sadistic fantasy.
“No…” Patricia shook her head, covering her bruised body in a frail attempt to protect it. “No, no, no.”
As the man walked closer, Patricia crawled away. Whether she gave in or not, she knew her fate would still be the same. Why let herself go through hell before death? But as she crawled away, she felt a hand wrap around her ankle.
She froze, her breath stopping, her eyes wide. Before she could even react, the hand pulled her back.

“Is it okay to just leave him alone with her?” the third person asked quietly, walking closer behind the leader of their small group. “I mean, shouldn’t we stay and help with the cleanup?”
The boss kept his cigarette between his teeth as he strutted out of the abandoned house. “He wants to have fun instead of paying for a whore. He might as well do the work himself.”
“But if he makes a mistake… we’re going to be in trouble. That woman looks like she’s from a good family. Also, that car she drove is expensive.”
The boss didn’t reply immediately, his steps slowing as he thought about it. When they reached the small outside courtyard of the abandoned house, he stopped and snapped his eyes at the other man.
“Go back in there and tell him to be quick. We’re cleaning it up together.”
The third person frowned. “But boss, should I really go back alone?”
“Do you want to get beaten up?”
“No, sir!”
“Go, you damn coward.”
The other man’s frown deepened, reluctantly taking short steps back inside. The boss, on the other hand, hissed and glared at the other man.
“Fucking coward,” he hissed, lifting his feet to kick the other man’s back. “Go faster, damn it!”
He clicked his tongue once more as the other man hastened his steps. The boss continued to smoke his cigarette, taking a few steps away to enjoy the night breeze. He kept his eyes on the sky, noticing that the night sky looked grayer than usual.

“Huh?” A loud thud from inside the house interrupted his serene surroundings. Looking back, the boss arched a brow. “Did he trip or something? Tch. I told him to tell that pervert to get it done, but he’s being a pain in the ass.”
The boss took another long drag of the cigarette before flicking it to the side. He then marched inside, knowing he only had himself to do this. If not for the fact that they could get in trouble if this was traced back to them, he wouldn’t have stayed to help.
But only seconds after entering the house, the boss stopped. His eyes fell on the pair of feet on the ground, lying behind the torn-down partition. He reached for his pistol immediately, bending his knees slightly as he quietly approached the partition. Even his breathing was controlled, knowing he couldn’t alert the enemy if there was one hiding behind the partition.
As soon as he reached the partition, he pointed his gun behind it.
No one was there.
His eyes fell on the person lying on the ground, recognizing him immediately. He was the one whom he had ordered to tell their other member to quickly finish off Patricia. He rushed to his member, intuitively checking the pulse on the side of his neck.
‘He’s just unconscious,’ he thought with slight relief, which was short-lived as he heard a cocking noise of a gun right behind him. After a second, he felt the cold metal press against the back of his head.
The boss held his breath, his body freezing. But unlike those who would freeze or shake in fear, he was calm enough to not have those reactions.
“I didn’t kill him so I can blow up your head if you start resisting,” said the person standing behind the boss. “Put down your gun.”
The boss breathed in and out, carefully raising both his hands to the side before lowering the hand that was holding the pistol. But just as he placed the gun down, he slid it back up and pulled the trigger at his enemy.
