Chapter 1057: How does that feel, William?
“This board has decided. Mr. Atlas Bennet is…” Benjamin trailed off, his sharp eyes glinting before the corner of his mouth curled into a smirk. “… the new Chief Operating Officer of the Pierson Corporation. Congratulations and welcome to the Pierson Corporation, Mr. Bennet.”
Zoren and Atlas smiled in satisfaction. This time, they couldn’t hide it behind their stoic fronts. As both men rose from their seats, a soft applause erupted in the room.
“Congratulations and welcome to the Pierson Corporation,” Zoren greeted, offering his hand to Atlas, which the latter clasped tightly.
“Not nervous anymore?” Atlas teased, earning a chuckle from Zoren. “I’m looking forward to working with you, CEO Pierson.”
Zoren flashed him a smile, and both of them released each other’s hands. As soon as they did, part of the board and the shareholders approached them. The first ones to approach were the people who had wanted to give Atlas a chance.
“Congratulations, Mr. Bennet.”
“Welcome to the Pierson Corporation. I hope you don’t disappoint us and make us regret voting for you.”
“If it’s the chairwoman’s recommendation, I’m certain she made the right decision.”
Words of compliment, with a hint of warning and expectation, came Atlas’s way. Either way, they showed great interest in this turn of events, knowing that it had always been Zoren handling two jobs at once.
Others who approached Zoren first also congratulated him. They also reminded him to take care of his health and expressed concern for his well-being.
“I hope that with Mr. Bennet here now, you’ll be able to focus more on your health, CEO Pierson.”
“Or at least, make the chairwoman happy,” the elderly woman on the shareholder’s side leaned closer to Zoren and whispered, “With the promised quadruplets.”
Zoren chuckled, nodding at the elderly woman before they both shifted their focus to the other man who had approached them.
—
Meanwhile, Dean watched this unfold from his seat. He huffed faintly, moving his eyes to where Finn was seated. The latter narrowed his eyes at him suspiciously, making Dean scoff in response.
‘I voted for him. Why are you still looking at me like that?’ he mentally hissed, pushing himself up as he knew this meeting had concluded.
Though, Dean wondered, who had left their sheet blank?
—
At the same time, William and his lackeys watched in stunned disbelief as everyone congratulated Atlas. Their mouths hung open, wide-eyed, unable to process what had just happened.
“He… he won the vote…” one of the lackeys blurted out in disbelief. “He won by just one vote.”
“A win is a win,” the other whispered. “We have to get up now and congratulate him as well. Otherwise, he might turn his attention to all of us.”
The three of them exchanged glances before shifting their eyes to William. The moment they saw the dark expression on William’s face, they felt their hearts race nervously.
They didn’t like that look on William’s face.
“This is impossible!” William, seemingly having lost his composure, suddenly yelled. His loud voice broke the celebratory atmosphere, replacing it with tension.
Everyone instinctively looked in his direction, brows furrowed. Even Dean and Finn, who were about to leave, stopped and looked back at William.
“How could Mr. Bennet win?!” William roared, glaring at both Atlas and Zoren. “I don’t believe the majority of this board favored Atlas! Something must have happened!”
Atlas tilted his head to the side. “Are you insinuating that the committee who read the votes did something, Director William?”
“If not that, then something else must have happened to manipulate the result!” William exclaimed, completely forgetting that the other two members were part of the shareholder and board of directors. They instantly frowned at how William had carelessly questioned their credibility and morals.
“If not, then how come there’s a blank sheet?!” William continued, now panting from all the yelling. “Zoren Pierson must have done something! Or perhaps he threatened all of you who voted for Atlas Bennet! Otherwise, how could you simply accept Atlas Bennet on the first day you saw him?!”
“Director William, you should stop now…” one of his lackeys whispered nervously. “You shouldn’t be doing this.”

“Please calm down, Director William. This is getting out of hand.”
But regardless of their pleas, William didn’t listen to them.
“I, William Pierson, request another emergency vote!” William shouted, his face flushed with anger and his chest heaving. “A vote to decide whether Atlas Bennet deserves to be part of the Pierson Corporation or not.”
His face twitched as the corner of his mouth contorted. Another emergency meeting wasn’t prohibited, as long as its urgency met the necessary requirements. For William, having doubts about the result was enough to justify redoing the vote and possibly changing the outcome.
Everyone was visibly displeased by what they’d heard. Another emergency vote was one thing, but many of the things William had said didn’t sit well with them. After all, William had attacked their credibility and decision-making.
Did he think they were all Zoren’s puppets?
“Director William Pierson, it seems you’ve forgotten that this board consists of both directors and shareholders,” Atlas replied coldly. “If this board sees fit, with enough evidence and consideration, they could even remove CEO Zoren Pierson from his position.”
“Yet, you’re accusing CEO Pierson of threatening them,” Atlas continued, glancing at everyone before returning his gaze to William. “How disappointing. Still, I understand that since some people are still unsure about the decision, I agree we should vote again. But this time, let’s not waste any more time and do it quickly.”
“Those who question the result or have even the slightest doubt… and if you think the voting should be done again, please raise your hand,” he added, his voice loud enough to reach the back of the room.
William quickly raised his hand, smirking. His smug look, however, didn’t last long as he noticed that no one else was raising their hands. When he looked at his lackeys, all he saw was them lowering their heads and looking away.
“I’m sorry, Director William…” one of his lackeys whimpered. “… but we also need to survive.”
“I think it’s time to concede,” the other one added.
William’s face twisted in anger as his entire body shook. He looked around, only to see that even those who had voted “no” didn’t raise their hands.
Jonathan, watching from the side, smirked briefly. He glanced at one of the shareholders and shook his head, signaling them to keep their hands down.
“Those who think the result was fair and don’t believe another emergency vote is needed, please raise your hand,” Atlas’s voice rang out again, and this time, everyone raised their hands.
Seeing this, Zoren nodded approvingly before turning his gaze to William. “William Pierson, I’m sorry, but your plea for another vote is denied. Atlas Bennet is now part of the Pierson Corporation, and he’s here to stay.”
CLAP!
After Zoren’s words, everyone heard a loud clap. They instinctively turned their heads to locate the sound, and their eyes fell on Dean, who was clapping slowly, his eyes fixed on William as their gazes met.
‘How does that feel, William?’
