Chapter 1086: A little surprise
“Are you alright, Ben?” Zoren asked, gazing at the other side of the backseat. “Should I take you to the hospital?”
Benjamin teared up, looking back at his boss. Despite the darkness of the car, he could see that Zoren was still glowing!
How could this happen?!
How could Zoren maintain this glow while everyone else was on the brink of passing out from mental exhaustion?
“This world is truly unfair…” Benjamin mumbled, sulking in the corner. “How could he and Sir Atlas look like they were as fresh as daisies after all that work today? I think we covered a week’s worth of work in just one day.”
Benjamin clasped his chest bitterly, reminded of the unchanging look on Atlas earlier. On their way out of the office, Zoren and Benjamin had bumped into Atlas. While Benjamin and Allen looked groggy and distraught, Zoren and Atlas looked like they had been sipping refreshments and napping all day!
Zoren tilted his head to the side, his thoughts filled with nothing but a giant question mark. All he could hear was Benjamin mumbling while sulking in the corner.
A shallow breath slipped from Zoren’s lips as he said, “We’re dropping you off first.”
“Huh?” Benjamin looked back at his boss before glancing out the window. “Oh! Sir, I’m not going home yet!”
“You’re not?” Zoren arched a brow. “Are you getting married?”
“Huh?”
“Tell me when, and don’t worry about anything. I’ll sponsor the wedding.”
“…” Benjamin scrunched his nose, his eyes swirling with disbelief. “Sir, are you just marrying me off like that?”
“Your happiness is my happiness, Ben.” Zoren nodded reassuringly, but when he opened his eyes, Benjamin gasped at the glint in them.
“That’s not the look of someone happy for someone else’s happiness!” Benjamin exclaimed, weeping in horror. He knew Zoren had a different agenda. *Why did he look so scary just now?!*
Little did he know, Zoren simply wanted to scratch Benjamin’s name off his rival list.
Zoren blinked and smiled subtly. “Where should we drop you off?”
“Huhuhu…” Benjamin was still weeping while his boss had already recovered. “I told Mint I’d drop by and pick her up so we could go home together.”
“I see.” Zoren nodded, casting a look at Mylo, who was driving. “To Homeland Security.”
“Yes, sir.” Mylo drove them to the new destination, and as he did so, the car picked up speed.
“Wait…” Benjamin’s breath hitched as he looked out the window, noticing they were accelerating. “Wait! Why are you going so fast again?! Sir! Bring back my dearest Angel! I really don’t like him!”
—
From their location when Zoren gave the new destination, it was at least an hour’s drive to the Homeland Security office branch. But they reached it in less than thirty minutes.
“Are you alright?” Zoren asked again, now genuinely concerned. “Benjamin, I think you should get checked. Your motion sickness is getting worse.”
Benjamin, on the other hand, was too busy holding back from throwing up. But that didn’t mean he didn’t hear his boss!
“Sir, I’m… I’m alright…” Benjamin gagged, pressing the window down for some air. “I’ll just rest for a bit.”
Zoren nodded in understanding, then looked up at Benjamin’s side of the window. His eyes landed on the office branch of one of Anteca’s most important agencies.
Homeland Security was more known as the police of the police and the head of all national security departments. It was where many government agencies reported and gathered, including the Secret Service, the police department, and many others.
Zoren’s eyes fell on Benjamin’s back, and he smiled subtly. Back then, he hadn’t thought Benjamin would work for him, considering the Vitt family’s history with government bodies. Just like Benjamin’s father, who had worked in the FBI before working for Old Mrs. Pierson. It was one of the reasons Zoren was hopeful that Old Mrs. Pierson would find his Thursday Girl, since Benjamin’s father had led the search.
“I think I’m okay now,” Benjamin murmured under his breath, looking back at Zoren. “Thank you for dropping me off, sir.”

Zoren nodded. “Send my regards to your cousin.”
“Yes, sir. She already told me she’d visit you one of these days.” Benjamin dragged himself out of the car. His knees were still wobbly, and he still had the urge to throw up, but he didn’t want to keep Zoren waiting.
Zoren stayed for a moment, watching Benjamin drag himself toward the entrance of the building.
“Sir.” After a few seconds, Mylo’s voice broke the silence.
Zoren didn’t respond immediately, keeping his eyes on Benjamin before saying, “Let’s go.”
With that, the car slowly sped away. As they did, Benjamin looked back at the speeding car.
“I don’t like him at all,” he grumbled, shaking his head. “I miss Angel.”
Benjamin teared up a bit, wiping his tears with the side of his index finger. The more he rode with Mylo behind the wheel, the more he missed Angel. At least Angel wouldn’t drive that fast unless it was necessary. Mylo, on the other hand, drove like they were on a racing track.
“Never mind that…” he muttered to himself as he resumed walking toward the entrance. He glanced at the security guard and flashed them a weary smile. They flinched in worry but didn’t stop him—they already knew his face.
How could they not, when Mint, the head of the entire organization, had printed Benjamin’s mugshot?
“Hah…” Another deep exhale escaped Benjamin as he felt his strength returning. He pressed the elevator button and waited patiently. “I should’ve just told Mint I couldn’t pick her up…” he trailed off, imagining his cousin’s reaction if he had said that.
His face contorted, knowing that Mint would put him through a different kind of torture. After all, Mint didn’t like people who didn’t keep their word. It was one of the reasons she and Zoren got along so well—they were both… sadistic in their own ways.
DING!
Benjamin’s thoughts snapped when he heard the elevator ring. Looking up, he watched the door slowly open, his brows furrowing in confusion. When the door fully opened, his face was filled with surprise as he gazed at the person standing inside the lift.
“Third… Third Brother?” Benjamin blurted out in shock. “What are you doing here?”
