Chapter 1093: I’d do it again
“Young Master, please… let me go.”
Naylani’s mouth quivered as she clasped the blanket tightly. Tears blurred her vision, but even that wasn’t enough to erase the cold and ruthless look in his eyes. He wouldn’t budge; he would keep tormenting her as part of his wicked games.
Her heart continued racing, her tears crawling down her taut neck. This right here might be just a boy, but in all the years she had watched him grow, she knew he was no ordinary boy. He was a devil — the most cruel, the most ruthless, and the most evil — inside this young body.
“Young Master,” she called out, panicking at the silence he gave her. Naylani hurriedly jumped out of the bed, kneeling in front of him, her hands resting on the vacant space on the chair. “Young Master, just let me go now, hmm? I’m sorry for everything that I’ve done — I didn’t mean it! I swear I didn’t! It’s not me — I mean, it’s my fault for being greedy!”
The young Zoren watched this woman beg for mercy at a defenseless boy like him. He could see the overwhelming fear in her eyes and the look of desperation. Yet, the young Zoren was unfazed, even though this woman was what he had called “mother” all his life — in two lifetimes.
“You want out?” his childish voice broke the silence after a while.
Naylani nodded profusely. “Please… just let me go. I will not show up in front of you again — not even in front of Enzo. I’ll live as quietly as possible and you’ll never hear a word from me again. Please… just… let me go.”
“Then tell me, Naylani,” the young Zoren paused, his eyes still holding hers. “What did I do for you to want to kill me?”
Her heart dropped as her eyes dilated, and she held her breath. “No, I… didn’t…” she trailed off, her breath hitching again as she lowered her head slightly. “I’m sorry.”
“…” Zoren was quiet, watching her entire body shiver helplessly. “Come with me, Naylani.”
Zoren hopped off the chair and started walking away. When he noticed she hadn’t moved, he glanced over his shoulder.
“Father is not here,” he said coldly. “I’ll let you go, just as you and I both wished.”
With that, Zoren resumed his steps while Naylani raised her head. Her brows rose a little, hiccuping as she watched the little figure walk out of the bedroom.
“Out…” she whispered. “He’s going to let me… go?”
Naylani clasped her skirt tightly and clenched her teeth. Deep in her heart, her entire soul told her not to follow that demon. But alas, she was desperate. She just wanted to leave this house; she couldn’t survive another second with that boy.
If she couldn’t kill him, she knew he would kill her instead.
The only reason she was alive right now was that the boy allowed it.
With that thought in mind, Naylani, despite her intuition telling her to run, picked herself up and followed Zoren. The latter hadn’t left completely, waiting for her on the stairs. When the young Zoren saw her timid figure, he started making his way up to the upper floor.
Naylani followed, stopping before the stairs as she gazed up. “Why is he taking me to the third floor?” she wondered to herself, but still, she dragged her feet up the stairs.
Before she knew it, they had reached another level — the attic.
“Young Master,” Naylani called quietly, standing outside the door to the attic. Her eyes were on the boy standing in the middle of the attic, watching him take off the little blazer he had on.
“That maid touched it,” he said. “It’s disgusting now.”
Naylani’s breath hitched, and she balled her hands into tight fists. She hung her head low, wide-eyed.
‘He knew about her too?’ she asked herself, her heart thudding. ‘How?’
“Come in.”
Naylani snapped out of her thoughts when she heard the young Zoren’s voice again. Looking up, she saw him walking to the side, and soon he was out of her sight. She gulped nervously, mustering the courage to take a step forward. She stopped right before she could step inside, her entire body protesting against it.
Something bad would happen — that’s what her entire body was telling her.
It wasn’t just a gut feeling anymore; her body was entering survival mode. But Naylani didn’t listen. She forced her feet to enter the attic, stopping after a few steps, and turning her head to where the little figure was.
There, right in front of the shelves, was Zoren. He was somehow choosing a book carefully before taking one out.
“Why did you take me here?” she asked, her voice shaky. “Renren—”

Her voice cut off when he slid his eyes to the corner upon hearing her nickname. “Young Master.”
“Stay there for a while,” he said. “I’d like to have a little chat with you, Naylani.”
Naylani bit her inner lip as she hung her head low, breathing out heavily. She could see his little figure from the corner of her eyes walking over to the small window near the shelves. The attic had a strange slanted roof, making it a high ceiling on one side and lower on the other. Hence, the young Zoren didn’t need anything to step on to look out at the round window.
“That maid…” he spoke again, his voice low but clear. “Is she here… to help you?”
Her mouth quivered, and she took a huge gulp. “Yes.”
“To kill my father?”
“…” Naylani pressed her mouth into a thin line. “Please, just let me go.”
“I would.” He glanced over his shoulder before setting his eyes on the window, catching sight of the maid who went to the Old Residence and making her way back. Seeing the maid caused a thick layer of frost to coat his dark eyes. “… In a minute, this will all be over.”
“For you and me,” he whispered, his eyes drooping. “In a minute, it will be over… for everyone we hurt.”
Zoren slowly turned around and faced her. “That kid… that child of yours, Naylani — he will be saved as well.”
“What?” Naylani’s face blanked, looking back at him wide-eyed. “How did you know…?”
“I killed him.” The young Zoren shrugged. “In the most gruesome way at that.”
Naylani’s breath hitched, her knees shaking uncontrollably until she found herself dropping to the floor.
“He was just like you — greedy — so I had to end him,” he continued in the same emotionless tone. “And I’d do it again. This time… I’ll wait. I’ll wait for him to find something to live for besides power. I’ll wait until he’s married and has children, so I can kill them in front of him.”
Naylani’s heart shook as she watched the corner of his little mouth hooked up into a twisted and diabolical smirk.
