Chapter 1112: A star is born
A movie night, an intimate dinner, and perhaps a picnic. Penny had quite a few guesses when Zoren told her he had something planned for her tonight. However, she didn’t expect it to be like this.

When Penny realized where they were headed, question after question popped into her mind. He didn’t take her outside to the beautiful garden where they could have an intimate dinner. Not even to the theater room where they could spend the night watching movies.

Instead, Zoren took her upstairs to what seemed to be an observatory.

Looking around the room, Penny couldn’t say it was shabby, but it wasn’t as sophisticated as the other parts of the castle. It was clean, though, with quite a few bookshelves and some stacks of books on the floor. There was a table in the middle, also with some books on it. A couch and a small television sat in the room—everything looked old but clean.

And then there was that telescope pointed at the window. With how vintage the place appeared, that telescope looked like it was misplaced.

“Uhm… Renren?” Penny looked at her husband beside her. “What’s in here?”

Where was the food? The candlelit dinner? Or was he planning to watch a movie on that vintage television?

What was it?

Zoren looked back at her and smiled. Instead of answering, he checked his wristwatch.

“A few more minutes,” he whispered before looking up at her. “I’m going to show you something. Come with me.”

Taking her hand, Zoren led her to the telescope. “Stay here,” was all he said as he released her hand and walked to the switch to turn off the lights.

The lines on Penny’s brows deepened, noticing that he seemed excited about something. Shifting her eyes from the telescope in the darkened room, her confusion only deepened. Penny gazed at the window and then back at the telescope just as the lights completely switched off.

Penny instinctively froze at the sudden lack of light. Her vision adjusted, and everything seemed clearer with the moonlight shining through the window.

“Wow…” she whispered, almost as if she could feel the moonlight coming through the window. “No wonder this window is positioned like this. It’s meant so that even without light, the person in here could still see.”

“One of Grandma’s favorite things about this place is that the moon looks the brightest here,” Zoren remarked, standing beside her and gazing at the window. “If you just stand here, you can look at the moon.”

Gazing up, Penny smiled and hummed. “It’s beautiful… or magical, to perfectly describe it.”

For a moment, silence fell over them as they admired the moon. The window’s location made it very easy to appreciate it from the inside. Considering the dress she was wearing, Penny knew she would have been shivering if they had dinner in the garden.

“So pretty,” she whispered, her eyes twinkling as they mirrored the moon. “It’s so calming.”

“Mhm.”

Penny raised her brows and glanced at Zoren, only to see him checking his wristwatch again. “Renren, what are you waiting for?” she asked, then blurted out, “Are you waiting for fireworks or something? You keep checking your wristwatch.”

“Not fireworks, per se,” he muttered as he took a step closer to the telescope, peeking through it. “I’m waiting for something else.”

“Something else…?” Penny whispered, but then Zoren straightened his back.

“Come here,” he stretched out his hand, which she took, even though she was still confused. Placing his hand on her shoulders as he stood behind her, he leaned into her ear. “Look.”

Penny looked back at him, but he just nodded at her. “Goodness. Is the galaxy going to explode?”

“Haha, just look,” he said, checking the time again. “It’s almost time—hurry.”

“Uh… okay?”

“Don’t move the telescope too much.”

“Mhm.” Penny carefully leaned over, making sure not to tip the telescope or disturb its position. A hum escaped her as she caught sight of something far beyond what the human eye could normally see. “Renren, what should I be looking at here?”

Zoren kept his eyes on his watch as he said, “It should come now.”

“Come, what?” she asked, keeping her attention on the scope. “I don’t see anything except—”

Suddenly, Penny trailed off as she saw something shine in the middle of the view. In that space, many small lights were shining, but one area in the center was jet black. The sight of something shining from that emptiness made her mouth fall open.

“Wow,” she breathed out, excitement tinging her voice. “Renren, something is shining!”

The shine was faint at first but slowly grew brighter with each passing moment. When it reached its peak, it shone so brightly that everything around it dimmed.

“Wow,” she repeated in awe. “Did I just witness the birth of a star?”

Penny stared at it for a moment before looking back at Zoren. The second she did, Zoren handed her a folded paper.

“What is this?” she asked.

Zoren shrugged. “Read it, and you’ll know.”

“…” Penny was still confused. She slowly opened the folded certificate and began to read. Her brows furrowed as she skimmed through it, her lips pressing together. When she looked up at Zoren, her fingers trembled slightly. “What is this…?”

“You,” he said coolly, smiling at her. “That star… I named it Penelope.”

Her lips quivered, opening and closing in shock, unable to find words to say. A part of her felt like tearing up, but another part was filled with so many questions.

“I told you,” he said, his voice quiet and sincere. “I’d get you a star.”

Penny bit her lip, tears welling in her eyes. Her heart was moved by the gesture, but instead of letting the tears ruin the moment, she smiled.

“I thought you were joking.”

“You’re never a joke to me, Penny,” he returned, jerking his chin to the paper. “You missed something.”

“Huh?”

“Check the time it was discovered.”

Penny furrowed her brows and read the certificate again, this time more carefully. And there it was.

“It was discovered on the day you were born,” he said. “However, it only shone now because of some technicality I barely understood. If I’m correct, it didn’t shine until now because of its distance. At least, its light only reached us now that it’s closer.”

“Renren…” Penny whispered, hanging her head low as she looked at the certificate, which proved the star she had just witnessed shine was named after her. She held back her tears, but they fell anyway.

Yet, despite the tears, she smiled as she looked back at him. “God…” she breathed out. “It feels so damn good to be loved.”
