Chapter 1144: Don’t cry too much!
[Atlas’s Team]
DING!
Atlas kept his grip on the handle beside him as he checked his phone. After reading the text message from his sister, he let out a sound. “Uh-oh.”
“Uh-oh?” Hugo, who had all his senses heightened, shot a look at his older brother. “First Brother, what’s that ‘uh-oh’ about? I don’t like the sound of it.”
Before Atlas could answer, they heard Mark still being aggressive with the gang member.
“I told you to give us the fastest route!” Mark shook the man’s collar as if they weren’t speeding through the woods. “This is no fast route! How come those riding bicycles got there before us?!”
“I—I… I’m going to throw—” The man couldn’t hold it any longer and turned to his side, vomiting. Aside from being hit a few times due to the rough road, the constant shaking from Mark didn’t help.
Mark pushed him down, hissing and huffing at the man before snapping his eyes to the front. “Sir Atlas, any word from Miss Penny?”
“Yes!” Atlas nodded. “It appears my sister and little brother-in-law decided to make a quick trip inside the enemy base. They said they’re going there to negotiate.”
“Shit!” Hugo roared, stepping harder on the pedal as if he hadn’t been speeding as fast as possible.
Mark, on the other hand, grabbed the man’s back and turned him around, shaking him by the collar and yelling at him again. Mark was so frustrated that when the man started complaining about his motion sickness, he jabbed at him to make him stop.
Meanwhile, Atlas remained still while Hugo and Mark panicked. Panicking wouldn’t change the situation. It wasn’t like he would reach Penny and Zoren any faster by doing so, nor would it fix the problem.
“I have a plan,” Atlas spoke, but they didn’t hear him the first time. So, he shouted, “Slow down and listen to me!”
This time, Hugo glanced at him and eased off the pedal. Mark also stopped his fist in midair, turning toward Atlas.
“I have a plan.” When their speed slowed, Atlas faced the driver’s seat and cast Mark a sidelong glance. “But I need you two to be calm and clear-headed. Among the three of us, you both can fight. I can’t. But I’m smarter than the two of you combined. So, listen very carefully.”

Meanwhile…
Mint jumped up from the bush, wearing the stolen clothes she’d taken from one of the female soldiers in the area. She had already taken down a few, knocking them unconscious, as opening fire was the worst option at the moment.
She kept one person conscious to answer her questions. Mint turned to her right, her eyes falling on the barely clothed woman she’d tied to a tree. She squatted down in front of the woman, smiling.
“Thanks for the clothes, and I’m sorry I can’t clothe you. I’m in a pickle.” Mint’s smile didn’t reach her eyes. “But… I’m telling you one thing. If the direction you gave me puts me in a tight spot, I’ll find out who you are and kill everyone you’re close to. Do you understand?”
The woman was panting, wide-eyed at Mint. She nodded profusely, knowing she couldn’t do anything at the moment. Mint broke her ankle and her shoulder before tying her hands behind her and stuffing fabric in her mouth.
“Are you sure you’re not going to change any of the instructions you gave me?” Mint asked, and the woman shook her head. “Alright then.”
Nodding in satisfaction, Mint’s smile stretched from ear to ear. Without a second thought, she threw a jab into the woman’s face, knocking her unconscious instantly.
“Sorry, I need to make sure you don’t do anything funny.” Mint raised her brows briefly before standing up. But before she could leave, she glanced back at the unconscious female syndicate member and noticed she was dirty. “Oh, well.”
Shrugging, Mint crouched down, grabbed a handful of dirt, and smeared it on her face. After she was satisfied, she headed toward the other entrance the woman had told her about, which would allow her to enter without alerting anyone.
‘My little cousin,’ she thought, stopping midway as she glanced at the old facility. ‘Don’t worry. Minty is coming to save you, so don’t cry too much!’

Mint wasn’t the only one thinking that Slater and Benjamin were already bawling their eyes out and begging for their lives. Everyone imagined their tears and snot mixing together on their faces.
After all, both Benjamin and Slater might be brave on the outside, but everyone knew they were big babies on the inside.
But alas… the two big babies hadn’t shed a tear.

Benjamin grunted as he slowly opened his eyes, regaining consciousness. He didn’t think much of it until a second later, when he was reminded of what had happened before he was knocked unconscious.
‘Third Brother!’ Benjamin panicked, his eyes popping wide open. He wanted to call Slater, but realized his mouth was taped shut. When he turned to his side, he caught sight of Slater.
Slater was bound in the corner, his mouth taped, and his eyes shut.
“Third Brother!” Benjamin called out in his mind again, struggling to move his arms and legs but to no avail. Looking around the room, Benjamin furrowed his brows.
The place where they were kept wasn’t an abandoned or dirty room, but an office. Although the office looked old, with walls of unfinished concrete, Benjamin could tell this place was still being used. His breathing grew heavy, eyes darting around the room before returning to Slater.
Slater was still unconscious, but then Benjamin noticed the dried blood on the side of Slater’s head.
“!!!” Benjamin panicked even more, struggling harder to remove his binds. His adrenaline kicked in, giving him extra strength as he fought to break free.
Before he could free himself, Benjamin froze when he heard the entrance open. His breath hitched as his eyes dilated, watching a man walk in and pour himself a glass of whiskey. Benjamin’s shaky eyes locked onto the man as he took a drink, then poured another glass.
The man walked over to the wooden desk, propped his bottom against the front of it, and faced Benjamin.
“How are you?” the man tilted his head to the side, smiling. “Benjamin Vitt?”
