Chapter 1171: Where the hell did that woman go?
“Seize them!” Angel yelled as the chopper slowly descended to the large yard of the base. “Go! Prioritize everyone’s safety!”
One after another, everyone in the chopper glided down the rope. Those on the ground immediately assumed they were from an international government agency and tried to flee. Some fought back by opening fire. Most of these people had fled the battle after realizing they were up against a beast (Hugo).
Those who fought back were swiftly defeated, while those who fled found themselves cornered. Unfortunately, the people in the chopper weren’t the only ones present. A large force of Zoren and Penny’s joint forces had already landed earlier, surrounding and sealing off the area.
“Get down! On your knees! Hands in the air!” yelled one of them, wearing a full black tactical suit. “I repeat! Do not fight back!”
Their mission was to save Zoren, Penny, and everyone who got caught in this mess. Therefore, Angel’s group focused on making the enemy surrender. As much as possible, they did not want to resort to more violence.
“Seize everyone!” Angel shouted, looking around. “Shit. This is bad.”
Angel hadn’t seen half of it, but he knew he was in for a surprise. This was the base of a syndicate, albeit a smaller one. Even if their numbers weren’t vast, Angel knew the members here numbered at least fifty or more.
“Captain!” one of the bodyguards in full gear rushed to his side. “This area has been cleared. It seems these guys are the only ones here.”
“Keep them here for now. We’ll turn them in later.”
“Yes, sir!”
Angel raised a hand before his colleague could leave. “Keep an eye on the situation here. I need to find Penny.”
“Yes, Captain.”
Without wasting a second, Angel left. He knew Penny was capable. Ten against one, she would still win. He’d seen it many times before. Still, if anyone here was capable enough to give her trouble, things could get very bad. He didn’t want to take chances. Once he found Penny, his anxiety would ease.
As Angel ran, scanning the building and deciding which one to check first, he heard someone over his comms.
“I’ve got a few here! Seven people, all injured. They’ve received first aid, but I need people for medical assistance.”
Hearing that, Angel pressed his comms. “Send coordinates!” he ordered, receiving the location of the report. He didn’t waste a second and turned, sprinting to where they were.
He knew Penny was most likely there. After all, who else would provide first aid to enemies but her? Besides, Penny might know how to fight, but she would never kill someone. Even if she wanted to, she would never do something that might land her in prison. She’d made that clear in the past.
Soon, Angel reached the area where seven injured men were lined up behind the building. His eyes scanned their condition. They all looked exhausted, weak, and in pain. But seeing the torn fabric around their bodies as makeshift bandages, he knew it was Penny’s work.
“Captain.” The man who had found them turned to Angel. “They said a woman gave them first aid. By their description, it seems it was Miss Penny.”
Angel drew a deep breath and nodded. “Where did she go? Was she hurt?”
“They said she didn’t seem to be,” the man replied, pointing at a nearby building. “She went in there, according to them.”
“Alright.” Angel nodded and tapped the man’s shoulder. “Good work. Make sure these guys survive. They needed to be alive to get proper punishment.”
“Yes, sir.”
With that, Angel entered the building. He didn’t want to stop, but the empty entryway and blood smeared all over the floor forced him to. His eyes scanned the area, spotting a trail of blood leading somewhere. As he followed the trail, he quickly imagined what had happened here.
She carried them out and treated them.
“Penny…” he whispered under his breath, shaking his head before proceeding up the stairs. Despite his haste, Angel stayed alert. He checked every floor, finding bodies lying in the corridors. He paused briefly to check their pulses, but sadly, they were all fatally shot.
All he hoped was that none of these bodies belonged to Penny.
“Penny!” After checking a few floors, Angel realized he’d be searching all night if he didn’t call her name. If any enemy revealed themselves because of his shouting, he wouldn’t hesitate to incapacitate them. “Penny!”
“Pen—” Angel stopped as he saw figures at the end of the corridor, immediately aiming his weapon at them. “Hands in the air and drop your weapons!”
The three men, who had revealed themselves, raised their hands in surrender.

“Please don’t shoot!”
“We’re out of ammo! We’ll put this down slowly!”
“We won’t fight back! Don’t shoot!”
“Hands in the air!” Angel repeated, ignoring their pleading. “And put your weapons down!”
“Please don’t shoot!”
“Last warning!” Angel shouted, watching as the men raised their hands and placed their weapons on the ground. Once they were unarmed, he made them lay on their stomachs. At the same time, he radioed for some of his men to come and seize them.
Fortunately, most of Penny’s men were from the Marines or military, so situations like this were familiar to them. Soon, some of Angel’s people arrived to handle the men he’d encountered, while the rest helped him check the building.
They searched every room, even checking for any hidden passages. But alas, Penny was nowhere to be found.
When Angel reached the rooftop, all he saw were frightened hostages huddled in the corner. After checking their faces, he was met with dismay. It was clear now—Penny was no longer in the building.
“Penny is not here,” he said into his comms. “Has anyone seen Penny?”
“We’re still checking Building C.”
“Building B, checking.”
“A few tried to fight back. Stabilizing the situation.”
“Sir Atlas and Sir Benjamin are already in custody.”
Angel heard all the voices reporting their locations. But none answered his question. No one had seen Penny.
“Shit,” Angel hissed. “Where the hell did that woman go?”
