Chapter 1175: This looks like the view I’d have in my coffin.
GASP!
Penny gasped for air and sat up instinctively. A surge of adrenaline coursed through the very ends of her nerves, making her heart race as if it were making up for its previous slow beat. Her mind felt as though it were sparking, her gaze now clearer than before.
“Hah… hah…” she panted, as if she had run a marathon.
“Penny, are you okay?”
She heard Zoren’s voice from beside her but didn’t react. All she could do was sit there motionless until she felt her heart slow down.
“Where are they?” she asked under her breath, facing her husband. But instead of focusing on the people who had done this to her, she panicked at the sight of his blood. “Renren! What happened?! Are you hurt?”
“No, I’m alright, but you…” Zoren’s eyes veered to her thigh.
His gaze made her turn to where he was looking, only to be reminded of her fight to stay conscious. Her mouth fell open in surprise.
“It’s not hurting,” she said quietly, tempted to take out the knife just to see if it would hurt. However, she knew that was the wrong thing to do.
“Who did this?” Zoren asked softly, his eyes back on her. “Tell me who?”
Penny pursed her lips. “Me.”
“You?”
“It’s a long story—” Penny stopped when she caught sight of figures in the corner of her vision. There, she saw Hugo and Atlas with Mark, Angel, Slater, and a few of her men running toward them.
When Zoren saw Penny lying unconscious, Mark quickly left to inform others of her condition and whereabouts. That’s why they were here. After all, this place was hidden behind a wall — a wall that looked like concrete but was actually a door. It was still within the territory, but a small section had been cut out for the sole purpose of concealment.
Fortunately, Zoren had come here and checked. Otherwise, they might have taken the whole night to find her.
“Miss Penny!” Mark shouted, followed by everyone else calling her name.
Penny just looked at them and opened her mouth before a sudden pain struck her head. “Ouch,” she whispered, touching the side of her head.
“Penny, what is it?” Zoren asked, holding her shoulder to keep her still. “Penny.”
She winced, one eye twitching. “I think the antidote contains… concentrated alcohol—” She stopped when she realized her rescue was near. “Angel, go over there. A child and a woman attacked me and left in that direction!”
Angel hadn’t even reached her when he turned, following the direction she pointed. A few of his men followed him, knowing the others could take care of Penny.
“Penny, are you alright?” Hugo was the first to reach her, gazing down with panic on his face. “You’re injured.”
“Penny…” Atlas, who had slowed to a jog, muttered under his breath.
Soon, everyone had gathered around the couple, eyes on her. They immediately noticed the knife in her thigh.
“You!” Mark pointed at one of Penny’s men. “Weren’t you trained in more advanced first aid? Do something about her injury!”
“Yes!” the man quickly approached Penny but stopped when she raised her hand.
“Wait,” she murmured, her head hanging low. Slowly, she looked up at Zoren and sighed. “I think… I’m drunk. I feel like I’m going to pass out—”
Just like how Penny had quickly woken up after ingesting the antidote, she passed out just as quickly.
“Penny!” they all yelled when they saw her eyes dim. Fortunately, Zoren was quick enough to catch her before she fell backward.
“Penny,” Zoren whispered, the bitter taste of the antidote still lingering in his mouth. But he didn’t think about that as he looked up at one of the bodyguards. “What are you still doing? Do something about that knife in her thigh!”
“But Miss Penny…” the bodyguard hesitated, knowing that Penny shouldn’t be touched when she was drunk or passed out. Angel hadn’t gone into detail, but he had warned them all to be extremely careful around alcohol when it came to Penny.

Even so, since she was injured, he knelt beside her, pulling out his small medical kit. But just as he poured alcohol into his hands and prepared to remove the knife, Penny’s eyes suddenly popped open.
“Ah—!” Hugo jumped back, startled. “What the — are you playing with us?!”
Atlas frowned. “Penny, this is not a time to pull pranks.”
“We’re dying of worry here!” Slater remarked in distress. “Why are you adding more stress to an already stressful situation?!”
Mark narrowed his eyes, sensing something was off. Looking at Penny’s blank expression, his heart suddenly thudded against his chest.
“Did she… come here… drunk?” Mark blurted out, not knowing the full story.
As soon as everyone heard this — except Slater — they drew back. Atlas even took a step back while Hugo furrowed his brows.
“Well, now that you mention it…” Hugo trailed off, because Penny suddenly locked eyes with him. He smiled and waved. “Hey there, baby sister. Mark said he wants to fight you if you insist.”
“I never said that,” Mark muttered under his breath, but his words went unheard.
“Don’t cause trouble,” Atlas warned, taking another step back. “Stay still. You’re injured.”
Slater furrowed his brows and looked around, confused. “Why are you guys acting so strangely?” He then glared at the bodyguard. “What are you still doing? She’s bleeding!”
“Don’t worry. The knife is actually stopping the bleeding from my leg,” Penny replied matter-of-factly, sitting up again and facing Zoren. She smiled at him appreciatively. “Husband, thanks for coming to my rescue. Love you!”
Penny quickly leaned forward and planted a soft kiss on his lips. She grinned before jumping to her feet, wincing slightly due to the discomfort in her thigh. However, there was no pain.
“My body’s going into shock,” she told the bodyguards, who were trained in emergency medical procedures. She then looked in the direction where the little girl and the woman had gone, knowing she had to give up on chasing them. “First aid, then take me to the emergency room.”
Having said that, she faced everyone as if she hadn’t just made an initial diagnosis of her current condition. She sat down again and laid back, casting Hugo a look.
“Lift my feet, if you want me to survive.”
Without a second thought, Hugo nodded and kept her feet elevated. Penny tried to focus on her condition, but her brows twitched at their stares. She slowly opened her eyes to see them all standing around her, gazing down. Zoren was still seated by her side.
“This looks like the view I’d have in my coffin.”
And with more help arriving, everyone could finally say that the rescue had been a success. Though a few of them were injured and needed first aid, it was still a success, nonetheless.
