Chapter 1176: What the fuck just happened?
The situation at the base was crazy, chaotic, and deadly. Throughout the night, the tension was high, mixed with all sorts of emotions. Gunfire echoed through the place, accompanied by shouts, screams, cries for help, and even the deafening silence of death.
It was an experience none of them had expected to transpire tonight.
Meanwhile, Pierson Island was the complete opposite.

[ISLAND]
“Woooh!” Lily squealed happily, clapping as the fireworks lit up the sky. “It’s so pretty!”
“Wow…” Ginnie was in awe, watching the sky sparkle with different colors. “… so pretty.”
“God damn—can you not scream in my ears?” Max complained, roaring at Lily, who just laughed in return.
James and Allen, on the other hand, simply enjoyed their drinks while watching the fireworks with smiles. Although they weren’t the type to enjoy such things, somehow, watching these fireworks felt magical. They were so beautiful, truly worthy of being a surprise prepared by Penny and Zoren.
“I forgot the last time I watched a fireworks display,” Allen murmured, mesmerized by the sparkles in the sky. “Wow…”
James rocked his head and smiled as well, his eyes glued to the sky. “Even on New Year’s, I don’t check. But I guess… I’ll start looking forward to it.”
When those words were said, Allen and James looked at each other and laughed. They clinked glasses and chugged down their drinks.
As for Finn, he just stared at the sky absentmindedly. His mind drifted elsewhere, thinking about Penny and the others’ safety. Since they hadn’t returned, Butler Lee had served everyone drinks to enjoy while waiting in the garden around the firepit.
It was more like they continued their bonfire, but with a more intricate furnace in a fancy castle.
One drink turned into two, and before they knew it, they had drunk more and more. Which explained why Lily was doubling down on her craziness.
‘They have no idea what’s going on,’ Finn thought, listening to Lily’s laughter, Max’s complaints, and everyone else’s awe. After a moment, Lily looked up and smiled gracefully. Even Max, who had been fighting her a lot today, looked up to watch the beautiful show in the sky.
‘They really… have no idea,’ he thought, only to feel a warm hand slip into his. Finn turned to see Nina standing beside him.
Nina squeezed his hand and smiled. “They’re going to be fine,” she said reassuringly. “I know because they’re my siblings. And since they’re my family, I’m certain they wouldn’t want you to miss out on this beauty just because of them.”
“…” Finn didn’t answer immediately, but with her consistent reassurance and support, his heart felt at ease. He nodded slightly, squeezed her hand back, and looked up at the sky. The corner of his mouth curled up as his eyes softened.
“It is beautiful, indeed,” he whispered, making her nod.
“I know, right?”
“How did Butler Lee come up with this?” he wondered aloud. He knew that Butler Lee had prepared a surprise on short notice. “I don’t know how he arranged this, but he truly is exceptional for pulling it off.”
Nina chuckled, agreeing with her fiancé. “Penny’s husband’s people are truly something.”

All night, the group waited for Penny and the others. But after drinking so much, they eventually forgot about them. Not to mention, the beautiful fireworks, which lasted for minutes, had everyone in high spirits.
In other words, they partied all night until they dropped.
Little did they know, the party Penny’s group had that same night was something they couldn’t call “fun.” When more help arrived, Penny was taken to the town’s emergency room for a quick checkup.
Everyone went except Mint and some of Penny and Zoren’s private army, who stayed behind to watch over the place.
It took about another hour before Mint’s reinforcements arrived. Since the island was a sixteen-hour flight from Anteca, her agency had sent the people closest to her location. Still, it had taken this long for them to arrive. When they did, all they had to do was arrest the syndicate members and rescue the hostages, who had already been apprehended. At the same time, Mint led a large group to the town’s police station.
Catching syndicates, particularly this one, was outside Mint’s jurisdiction. However, apprehending the people who worked for the government and were committing crimes was her duty. Hence, she wasted no time heading to the police station and the mayor’s office to make the arrests.

The situation had already escalated. Therefore, she might as well go all out and clean up the town once and for all.
As for Penny’s group, she wasn’t the only one treated when they arrived at the hospital. Everyone except Atlas, who waited outside and mentally cheered them on, Benjamin, and Slater, was attended to.
Mark had a few deep cuts that needed stitches. It was the same with Hugo, who also had bruises all over his body. Both of them didn’t need to be admitted, as their injuries were minor. Zoren, on the other hand, had minor stitches. Apparently, the wound on his head was caused when Glenn broke a vase over it during their fight. It wasn’t serious—just a concussion, according to the test they performed.
Meanwhile, Penny’s wound was treated. However, she requested additional lab tests because she said someone had injected her with poison. Even though she had already taken the antidote, she was curious to see the results.
Therefore, all of them spent the night in the emergency room. It was only around dawn when they finally left and traveled back to the island, since they were no longer needed in the syndicate’s territory.
As the sky turned blue, signaling that the sun was about to rise, all of them—Atlas, Hugo, Slater, Mark, Zoren, and Penny—found themselves standing in front of the castle’s main door. Their eyes were blank as they watched Butler Lee step out of the house.
Hugo’s mouth fell open as he breathed out in disbelief, “What the fuck just happened last night?”
