Chapter 1186: This is why I told you to change your ways, Penny
After the couple had a quick bite, Penny and Zoren decided to handle some unfinished matters. That was…
“Why are you all here?” Penny gasped in disbelief, standing in the courtyard with all their bodyguards gathered before her. Her face twisted slightly as she scanned their faces.
Standing in formation were Angel, Mark, and everyone else who was supposed to be at the Skyline Plaza residence. As far as Penny remembered, she had given them strict instructions to rest while she and Zoren were on their honeymoon. Although she was grateful for their presence and the reinforcement they had provided, wasn’t this a clear defiance of orders?!
“Wait.” Penny frowned, narrowing her eyes at Zoren, who stood beside her. “Renren, did you ask them to follow us?”
“No.” Zoren’s expression remained unchanged as he turned his attention back to their people. “According to Butler Lee, you all followed us here on the first day and told him not to let us know.”
Everyone except Mark—who had been with them on the island—hung their heads low. They had snuck their way here, staying on the other island just to hide themselves.
Tsk, tsk, tsk! Penny clicked her tongue, limping her way toward the group. “Although I’m grateful that your sneaky little mission ended up being useful, you still need to explain yourselves.”
As soon as she reached Angel, she kicked the back of his foot, making him lose his balance. Taking advantage of the momentum, Penny wrapped her arm around his neck, trapping him in a tight headlock.
“Ah—Ahh! Hey—ack!” Angel, now forced to bend forward, rapidly patted her arm. “Hey! You’re gonna kill me!”
But Penny ignored his protests, tightening her grip. “Confess! I have a feeling your reasoning is going to make me angry.”
“Ahh!” Angel clenched his teeth, but seeing the bandage on her leg, he didn’t dare throw her off. “This is so unfair! We were just worried about Sir Zoren!”
“Huh?” Penny furrowed her brows, confused. “Why would you be worried about my husband?”
The rest of the bodyguards looked away when she glanced at them. Some even whistled, pretending they weren’t there at all.
Zoren tilted his head slightly. “Did I do something to make you all worry?” he asked, rubbing his chin. “I thought you followed because of Penny.”
After all, most of the people here were Penny’s men. He had his own, but compared to the vast number under Prime Group, they were a small force.
“Hey.” Penny’s tone dropped as she locked eyes with one of the guards. “You’d better start talking before Angel finally grows his wings and flies to heaven. His life is in your hands.”
Captain!! The poor man she was staring at mentally wept. “Miss Penny, please don’t do this to Sir Angel.”
“Speak.”
Mark let out a sigh. “They were worried about your luggage, Miss Penny.”
“Huh?” Penny scrunched up her nose in confusion while Zoren blinked at him.
“Miss Penny, this is just a five-day trip, but your luggage looked like you were leaving for five years!” Another bodyguard finally mustered the courage to speak. “We were worried you had… bad intentions and planned to keep Sir Zoren all to yourself!”
“Sir Zoren only brought a small carry-on, but you… Anyone would be concerned!”
“We were just looking out for Sir Zoren and this marriage!”
“Miss Penny, you can’t blame us for worrying!”
The more Penny listened to this slander, the more speechless she became. Her mouth opened and closed as she scoffed in disbelief. Her grip on Angel loosened, giving him the chance to slip away and jump to safety.
Angel rubbed his neck before shooting her a glare. “Penny! Are you crazy?! You nearly choked me to death, and now you’re acting shocked that we were worried about Sir Zoren?!”
Penny and Zoren: “…”
With Angel now free, the rest of the guards grew bolder, finally voicing their concerns.
“Besides, you told us to take a vacation!” another bodyguard added. “You didn’t tell us where!”
“Wait, wait.” Penny raised her hand, scoffing in disbelief. “Why am I suddenly the bad guy here?”

Pfft— Zoren pressed his lips together, trying to suppress a laugh. Unfortunately for him, Penny caught it and shot him a glare.
“Not funny, Doreen,” she stressed before turning back to the group with a hiss. “Hey, I’m a woman! I need more than ten pieces of luggage for a five-day trip! Besides, I was not the one with ulterior motives! Do you think Zoren had no plans? The reason he didn’t bring much is that he knew he wouldn’t need clothes to begin with!”
Zoren raised a brow, glancing at the others. When he saw them staring, he let a mischievous thought slip into his mind. With a subtle shake of his head, he shifted the blame back to Penny.
The bodyguards immediately redirected their judgmental gazes onto her.
Seeing this, Penny gasped.
These were her men—the people she had deployed to protect her client, who just happened to be her husband. And yet, they were all acting like she was the villain!
“How could you—” Penny instinctively turned to Zoren, only to see him shrug.
“You guys—I’m telling the truth!”
“This is why I told you to change your ways, Penny.”
A new voice interrupted. Everyone turned to find Atlas approaching from the side. Stopping before them, his gaze landed on Penny as he tilted his head slightly.
“Remember the story of The Boy Who Cried Wolf?”
“I hope you’re finally seeing the consequences of your constant shenanigans,” he added.
Penny gasped as everyone—including her own husband—nodded in agreement.
“Like I said, it’s a very dark path.”
“…” Penny opened her mouth, then closed it. In the end, she had no words. Because, if she was being honest… they weren’t wrong. She had been tempted to take Zoren on a little detour.
“Look at her…” Angel scoffed under his breath. “So, we were right, huh?! You did have an ulterior motive!”
“That—Hey! That’s not true!” Penny shot back, only for them all to mutter:
“We just saw you admitting to it with that look.”
“I saw it too.”
“I thought we were overthinking, but I guess following them was the right call. After all, Sir Zoren is too weak to say no.”
Hearing their continued judgment, Penny finally reached her boiling point. Despite her injury, she still managed to give them all a proper beating—while Zoren and Atlas stood on the sidelines, watching.
“See?” Atlas shook his head, watching as Penny resorted to brute force. “And then she wonders why she’s always painted as the bad guy.”
Zoren let out a quiet breath, standing still as the chaos unfolded before him.
“I’m still glad they followed,” he murmured, a faint smile tugging at his lips. Because even in the midst of all this madness, the fight felt more childish than serious.
Besides, despite all the bickering, everyone—including Penny—wore a smile.
