Chapter 1221: Don’t let go this time.
“I’m sorry about our first life and… for failing to help you plan my murder.”
Penny’s heart sank as she stared at the subtle smile plastered on Atlas’s face. She shook her head, hearing Zoren grunting behind her.
“No,” she breathed out, her heart clenching. “No, no. Don’t — don’t let go. Don’t…”
“Penny,” called Atlas, his voice ironically calm and reassuring. When their eyes met, his eyes squinted a bit as a shallow breath escaped him. “It’s okay. It’s going to be okay.”
The person Penny spoke about in her previous life sounded like a very harsh individual. The Atlas from her previous life didn’t sound like him at all. Even so, if that was true… Atlas was slightly appeased in knowing that, in a way, he could correct that behavior.
Because in this life, he only had one goal: it wasn’t to lead Global Prime Logistics or the Bennet clan to new heights. It wasn’t even to gain a title or legacy, like most people in his position might strive for. Not a woman, marriage, or family of his own.
All he wanted in this life was to watch his siblings live a healthy and happy life—a life full of contentment, full of fearlessness because they knew they had a fallback. In this life, that was all he wanted: to be a good older brother to Hugo, Slater, and Penny — and now to Zoren as well.
It might not be enough to appease her or take away the pain he had caused, but knowing she would live was good enough for him.
“Penny,” Atlas spoke again, peeling his fingers from her. “Let go.”
“No!” Penny yelled back, her grip tightening even more. “No! Don’t be stupid!”
“We’re going to fall!” he yelled back, but Penny just kept shaking her head while yelling, “No!”
Clenching his teeth, Atlas gazed down at the person clinging to his ankle. He tried kicking him once, but to no avail. Looking up, Atlas felt his heart leap when they fell another inch.
“Penny!” he shouted, carefully trying to peel her fingers off of him. “Let go! We’re not going to make it!”
“I said I won’t!”
“Penelope —” his breath hitched when a droplet of water fell on his cheek. His eyes widened as another tear landed on his cheek. His mouth quivered as he saw the pool of tears covering her eyes.
“I’m not letting go,” Penny breathed out. “Please… don’t let go. Don’t let me go this time. Not in this lifetime, not in the next.”
The strong facade he had worn, thinking he didn’t want his sister to remember the fear in his eyes, slowly crumbled down. His heart clenched as the redness in his eyes worsened. However, fear still didn’t show in his eyes. He wasn’t scared of falling from this height anymore, but rather, there was just a sense of panic seeing her cry.
Feeling a lump in his throat, Atlas bit his lower lip and hummed.
“Don’t cry,” he breathed out, holding on to her tightly. “Stop… crying. I won’t let go. I was being silly. I’m sorry.”
“Hold on,” she whispered, calming down a bit as he nodded reassuringly. “This is not what’s going to kill us.”
“Mhm.” With that, Atlas gazed down again and raised his foot slightly. Since the man was just holding on to his ankle, Atlas didn’t need to exert much effort. All he had to do was graze the man’s hand off his ankle. Despite the pain of being stretched by Penny’s grip and another weight on his foot, Atlas tried to ignore it for now.
“Get off me…” he breathed out, carefully pushing the man’s hand off his ankle. “Let go.”
If there was anyone who should let go here, it was this man. He was the one who opened the door and pulled Atlas with him. “If you wanted to jump so badly, then… do it on your own.”
Meanwhile…
“Penny…!” Suddenly, Zoren yelled as his fingers on the seat footing slid. He tried pulling her back, but to no avail. ‘No, this can’t be…’
Zoren gazed at his wife before looking around in a panic. “Second Brother!” another call for help escaped him, catching sight of Hugo trying to get up, unable to keep his footing with the turbulence.
Hugo clenched his teeth and looked back, only to see the desperation in Zoren’s eyes. “Shit,” he whispered, forcing himself to get up again. He clasped the seats with every hurried step, but as if this plane wanted to cut off some passengers, it tilted again.
“Ugh!” Hugo fell back a little, fortunately clinging to something to stop himself from being pulled by the force. When the plane momentarily stabilized, another jagged breath escaped him. “Hold on… I’m coming.”
Zoren, knowing Hugo was the only person who could help, kept his eyes on him and his grip as tight as he could. When his eyes fell on the seat footing, all he could see was that his fingers had already turned white while the corners were as red as an apple.
There was only one thing Zoren hoped for at that moment: not to have another turbulence. Zoren had been told he was lucky all the time, but this time, luck was probably not on his side. After another second, they felt the airplane shake a little and tilt toward the emergency door.

“Ugh…!” Zoren grunted as he held on, but his fingers continued to slip as the weight felt heavier with the plane’s position. Only half an inch of his fingertips was holding on to the seat footing, making him grunt while pulling Penny, hoping he could hold the seat more properly.
But alas, he could only hold on for so long until all of his fingers slipped and Zoren himself slid toward the door.
Time felt slower for him, for Penny, and for Atlas.
Penny, feeling the abrupt movement, had her eyes slowly dilate. Her body slid over the door, but she didn’t let go, even though she knew they were all falling. It was the same for Atlas, whose heart started sinking as he felt that they were falling — him, his sister, and possibly Zoren.
“No,” he whispered, his face crumpling because he knew it was his fault. “No.”
As Atlas, Penny, and Zoren braced themselves, they all came to a sudden stop.
Penny’s breath hitched, while Atlas’s remained rigid. Her waist had already reached the door, but Zoren was still holding on to her ankle. Meanwhile, Zoren’s chest heaved in and out heavily. Turning his head, Zoren’s eyes fell on the hand that was holding him before lifting his gaze and meeting Hugo’s.
