Chapter 1293: I know she’ll like you too.
Having Cassandra’s help was something Nina didn’t think she would need. But knowing she was running out of time and had been thinking about what to give her in-laws for the past few weeks, Nina couldn’t turn down the offer.
“You’d be surprised that making them happy isn’t that hard,” Cassandra said as she stopped in front of a tea set. “And I’m sure Finn doesn’t even know that.”
Cassandra offered Nina a smile as she pointed at the tea sets in their boxes. “I’m sure they’d like anything you give them. But his mother likes drinking tea. She doesn’t drink coffee because of the taste, but she enjoys the calming flavor of tea.”
Nina moved closer and nodded, smiling brightly as her eyes lit up. “These look good,” she said, scanning the different tea sets. There were five options to choose from. “Thank you, Cassandra.”
“You’re welcome,” Cassandra nodded, watching Nina carefully consider which one to buy. It made her chuckle, finding Nina quite adorable.
After all, if it were Cassandra, she would have bought all five sets and given them all to the person she wanted to gift. However, Nina was carefully choosing just one, putting more thought into it.
‘I wanted to tell her not to dwell too much on it,’ she thought, knowing the design wasn’t really important to the person Nina would give it to. ‘But I guess that would be overstepping.’
Cassandra shrugged and let Nina be for a while, turning around to check some things on the rack behind them. She rubbed her chin, thinking about what she would buy next. She also wanted to give something to the Piersons.
“Say…” Cassandra hummed, looking back at Nina. She smiled. “What do you think Penelope would like?”
“Huh?” Nina’s train of thought halted as she looked back at Cassandra. “You’re going to buy Penny a gift?”
“Isn’t she the matriarch of the Pierson Family?” Cassandra replied knowingly. “I’m marrying into the Pierson Family, so obviously, I need to give her something.”
“Oh.” Nina nodded in understanding. That detail had slipped her mind, as she didn’t really think much about Cassandra and Jonathan’s relationship. She had no business in it.
Cassandra smiled at her reassuringly. “You can tell me once you’re finished choosing. For now, I’ll just look around here and show you whether Penelope would like it.”
The two women nodded at each other before refocusing on choosing gifts for their future in-laws. After a while, Nina was able to choose which tea set she would give her future mother-in-law.
“Can you please wrap it up?” she asked the clerk, who nodded in understanding. “Thank you.”
Afterward, Nina went to where Cassandra was waiting. “Cassandra, have you picked anything yet?”
“I got a few,” Cassandra said, placing the items she had picked on a nearby stand. “I think these are nice, right?”
There were bracelets, some keychains, and a music box.
Nina blinked as she gazed at the items Cassandra had chosen during the time they were separated in the boutique.
“She will not like this,” Nina said, pointing at the music box. “Penny doesn’t like dolls, and having a small doll inside here is a bit… the same.”
“Oh!”
“But this keychain looks nice,” Nina added, picking out the one with a heart design.
“This one?” Cassandra furrowed her brows as Nina handed her the keychain. “Isn’t it a little plain?”
“Penny doesn’t like receiving gifts,” Nina explained.
“Hmm?”
Nina smiled. “She thinks that if someone gives her something, she has to return the favor. So, if you give her something grand, she’ll feel obligated to return it with the same value or more. But if it’s something small or simple, but comes from the heart, she’ll appreciate it more.”
“Oh…” Cassandra nodded before smiling. “Well, isn’t this nice? You and I running into each other and helping each other… one might think it would be strange.”
Nina chuckled. “I know, right?”
“Then, I’ll just go with this one,” Cassandra mused. “And the bag I bought for her will be mine.”

“Haha. I already bought some gifts for the Pierson family. However, the bag I purchased as a gift was delayed. Considering that I’m getting engaged soon, I wanted to have an emergency gift just in case.”
“Oh…” Nina nodded in understanding, only realizing then that it was strange to run into Cassandra in a gift shop. Considering Cassandra’s status, one might think she would have prepared lavish gifts for her future in-laws. That explained it.
“Do you think she’ll like me if I give this to her?” Cassandra wondered.
“Penny will like people based on their personality and not on their gifts,” Nina replied. “I know she’ll like you too.”
“That is very kind of you. Thank you.”
With that, the two of them continued to shop. After all, Nina still needed to buy something for her future father-in-law. Cassandra had a suggestion, but the gift she was talking about was in a different boutique. So, after they paid for their items, they headed to the other boutique where Nina had been previously.
Little did they know, as they entered the shop, Patricia, who had just come out of the boutique across from them, spotted the two of them.
“Hmm?” Patricia furrowed her brows, narrowing her eyes. “Is that Nina and… that woman…”
A look of confusion washed over Patricia’s face as she tilted her head to the side. The woman with Nina looked familiar, yet not at the same time.
“Where did I see her?” she wondered to herself, a bit curious. However, her curiosity didn’t last long, and she shook her head. “Never mind. Why would I care who she’s with?”
Clicking her tongue, Patricia took out her phone and called someone. After it rang, her mouth curled into a wide smile.
“Brother Theo, I’m already here!” she said, glancing at the shopping bag in her hand. “Alright. Then, I’m going to the restaurant first. I’ll wait for you there—okay, bye~”
With that, Patricia dismissed the thought of Nina and Cassandra and went straight to the restaurant where she would have a lunch date with her brother. Her relationship with him had been going great so far, and she wanted to keep it that way.
Unbeknownst to her, running into Nina and Cassandra again was inevitable, especially since they were just in the same area.
