Chapter 1297: Slap
SLAP!
The resounding slap echoed in everyone’s ears.
Nina gasped, covering her mouth in shock. Cassandra’s face was tossed to the side, her eyes dilating. For a moment, neither of them could process what had just happened. After all, Patricia had come in here, and without a word, assaulted Cassandra.
As for Patricia, her palm throbbed painfully, and she clasped it tightly.
Patricia had heard enough, and even if she was slow on most things, she was vile enough to recognize another evil force. This two-faced Cassandra… she was the cause of everything. After Nina betrayed Patricia, it wasn’t easy for her to trust anyone again. She had been bullied, though she had to admit she deserved some of it, having been a bully herself.
But when she opened her heart to these new people who had approached her, Patricia had believed things were starting to look up. Unfortunately, Theo suddenly begged their parents to let him transfer and study abroad instead. He threatened them, saying he would drop out of school rather than attend the Summit School of Excellence.
Theo got his way, and Patricia hated him for it. She believed he couldn’t handle the pressure of the Star Section anymore and would be humiliated if he was kicked out after just one semester. However, now she was going to learn that there was more into the story and that Cassandra had threatened her brother?
And those people she thought would be her friends, who had betrayed her even before her family’s crisis, were Cassandra’s minions all along? Though Patricia claimed those people weren’t her friends, it was really just her defense mechanism to shield herself from the pain of being hurt again and again by people she trusted.
“You—” Cassandra seethed, but the second she faced Patricia, the latter raised her hand again.
“Patricia!” At the same time, Nina jumped in between them, grabbing Patricia’s arm. “What are you doing?!”
Nina panted, her entire body shaking at the situation unfolding before her. In her mind, Patricia had just assaulted Cassandra by simply being with Nina. But alas, Patricia didn’t even glance at Nina, her eyes locked on Cassandra.
“You—what?” Patricia scoffed, her mouth twisting into a vile smirk. “My brother doesn’t hit women, no matter how terrible they are. However, he and I are different. I’ve been through enough scandals and ridicule that I don’t mind adding one more by dragging you out of here by your hair.”
“Patricia!” Nina yelled, pulling Patricia’s hand down. “Aren’t you going too far?! No matter how you feel about me, you don’t have the right to hurt the people around me!”
Patricia hissed at Nina, then cast Cassandra a look. “You’re lucky I only slapped you once. But pull whatever trick you pulled again… and you’ll see that there’s someone crazier than you.”
With that, Patricia snapped her eyes at Nina, then back at Cassandra.
“That slap was for my brother, and this one?” Patricia suddenly grabbed Nina’s arm and raised it slightly. “This one is for me.”
The moment those words rolled off Patricia’s tongue, she forcibly dragged Nina with her.
“Pat—Patricia!” Nina pulled her arm free from Patricia, exerting more force before they could leave the private dining area. She rubbed her arm and gazed at Patricia. “This is going too far, Patricia.”
“Nina, I can go farther if I wanted to, and you know that,” Patricia hissed, glaring at Nina and then at Cassandra. “Are you coming with me or not? Because if not, I’ll grab that woman’s hair and make sure she goes home bald.”
Nina’s breath hitched, catching the inextinguishable fire in Patricia’s eyes. The latter had tormented her for years, and Nina was certain that Patricia wasn’t joking.
“I’m… I’m really, really sorry.” Nina turned around to face Cassandra, wearing an apologetic expression. “I’ll make it up to you, Cassandra. I’m really sorry—”
“Tch! Let’s just go!” Patricia barked, snatching Nina’s arm and dragging her along.
Meanwhile, Cassandra touched her cheek with her fingertips. Her eyes were wide, still shocked at what had just happened. For a moment, she could only stare at the open door without blinking.
“That woman…” she hissed, her unblinking eyes glinting wickedly. “How dare she slap me?”
Patricia was surely going to pay for it.

Meanwhile, Theo calmly stayed in his seat, waiting for his sister to return. He had already paid the bill, so they could leave once she came back. After all, he knew Patricia’s habit of brushing her teeth after a meal. She had this obsession with brushing her teeth every time after eating, so he was sure she would take a while.
But then, Theo’s eyes fell on the vacant seat across from him.
“Huh? She left her bag?” he muttered, wondering if Patricia had brought her toothbrush with her. But before his mind could drift further, he caught sight of Patricia walking back to their table.
Deep lines appeared between Theo’s brows as he saw the person Patricia was dragging along. His mouth fell open as his breathing stopped for a second.

‘I just told her to learn how to forgive… not kidnap Sir Charles’s daughter!’ Theo jumped from his seat when his sister was close. “Patricia, what are you…”
He trailed off, his eyes shifting to Nina, standing behind Patricia. Nina looked back at him with the same conflicted expression.
Patricia said nothing as she picked up her bag and faced her brother. “Let’s go,” she said with a sharp huff. “Now.”
“But—what—”
“Come on!” she remarked, still dragging Nina with her, bumping her shoulder against her brother’s.
Confused, Theo darted his eyes between Patricia and the table. After a second, he grabbed the present his sister had given her and followed them. However, deep in his heart, he knew they might be in trouble if Nina told Charles about this.
‘Why can’t she just…’ his thoughts trailed off as he instinctively glanced back, only to catch Cassandra standing in the corner. His brows knitted as he noticed the red spot on Cassandra’s cheek. However, he didn’t dwell on it as he rushed out of the restaurant to follow his sister and lecture her.
Little did he know, Patricia dragging Nina out of the restaurant was the least of his concern.
