Chapter 1339: Is spiking drinks normal in this family?
[MAMA]
BAM!
The loud chattering and laughter in the restaurant came to an abrupt halt when a loud bang echoed through the space. Everyone’s head turned, searching for the source of the noise, and all eyes landed on Penny… then on Atlas beside her.
Atlas had seemingly passed out, his forehead smacking against the table.
“Oh my god!” Penny gasped, covering her mouth as she stared at Atlas in disbelief. “How could First Brother drink so much that he passed out?!”
The room fell into an awkward silence as everyone quietly counted the vacant seats between Penny’s original spot and where she was sitting now. Just moments ago, she had been clinging to Zoren like a koala, never leaving his side. But at some point—while everyone was busy—Penny had wandered off.
Now, Atlas was unconscious.
They were certain Penny had spiked his drink.
“Wow.” Hugo snapped out of his shock, staring at Atlas. “I’ve never seen him pass out from drinking before.”
“Hey, hey!” Charles, who had been drinking with Lester and Jessa, waved enthusiastically. “Hugo, take a picture! I’m sending that to Lily for the next reunion!”
“Of course!” Hugo quickly pulled out his phone, only to gape in horror when he saw the screen was black. Deader than his bank account. He smiled awkwardly at the group. “My phone’s dead.”
“Someone!” Charles urged. “Picture, picture!”
“Don’t you dare,” Allison intoned, her voice calm but firm—a gentle warning.
Jessa clicked her tongue before snapping her gaze at Hugo. “You’ll never learn, will you? Especially you, Hugo. Moments like this make me wonder if you really grew up with Atlas, because you seem to forget just how vengeful he is.”
“I’m out of this,” Yugi muttered, his gaze shifting to his sister, who was discreetly hiding her phone. “Yuri, you better make sure he never hears about this.”
Yuri frowned. “I was just trying to help since Uncle Charles needed a phone.”
“Pfft—” Nina stifled a laugh but quickly sobered. She didn’t want to risk Atlas’s wrath. Not when he had just bought her the latest tablet for work.
Finn, who had been mingling with the twins and Nina, chuckled quietly. A moment ago, the entire Bennet family had been scrambling to find their phones, as if time was running out—until Allison had put a stop to it. The more time Finn spent with them, the more he understood just how chaotic this family was.
Not the bad kind of chaotic, though.
Had he known they were like this, he would have met them sooner.
Thanks to the alcohol, he was finally able to relax a little.
CLICK!
The faint sound of a camera shutter echoed through the air. Everyone’s heads whipped toward the brave soul who had just signed their death warrant by taking that photo.
“Renren!” Penny gasped before furrowing her brows. “How did you even get in there?”
Charles turned to his side and nearly jumped out of his seat when he found Zoren sitting unnervingly close to him. “Since when have you been here?!” he shrieked, recalling that Zoren had been on the other side of the table just moments ago, talking with Haines, Finn, the twins, and Nina.
“Oh.” Zoren blinked innocently and carefully handed his phone to Charles, fluttering his eyelashes. “I would risk my life for you, Father.”
“Allison! Get this kid away from me!”
“Hahaha!” Jessa burst into laughter, slapping the table as her stomach cramped from the effort.
Charles let out a dramatic squeal, scooting away from Zoren, who remained completely unbothered. The latter seemed to find endless amusement in seeking Charles’s affection—despite knowing he would never receive it.
Finn watched the interaction, a subtle smile playing on his lips. “I can’t tell if they’re close or not,” he whispered.

Haines chuckled. “They’re not… and they are.” He glanced at Finn, nodding knowingly. “You’ll get used to it. Charles is only affectionate toward Allison, Nina, and Penny. The rest?”
“They can go to hell,” Yuri muttered, shielding her mouth with one hand. “So if he calls you something degrading, just know it’s a trauma response from his father—the chairman.”
“They hate each other,” Haines murmured, his gaze shifting between Charles and Zoren, “but they’re becoming more and more alike.”
Then, from the corner of his eye, he noticed Penny unusually quiet. She was looking down at the table, subtly checking on Atlas.
“She’s going to be in deep trouble for spiking his drink,” Haines muttered—only to feel a sudden wave of dizziness. His vision blurred, and he winced, pressing a hand to his forehead.
“Uncle Haines?” Nina called, catching the slight sway in his posture. “What’s wrong?”
“…” Haines peeked through one eye before exhaling sharply. His gaze flicked to Penny.
“She spiked my drink.”
BAM!
Nina, Yugi, Yuri, and Finn flinched as Haines suddenly collapsed onto the table. Thankfully, Yugi reacted quickly enough to catch his head before it hit the surface.
“Uh…” Finn cleared his throat, looking between Yugi and Nina. “Is spiking drinks… normal in this family?”
Nina shook her head. “This is the first time it’s happened.”
“But if she’s spiking drinks…” Yugi trailed off, his brow furrowing. “Then she’s up to no good.” He turned to his sister. “Yuri, did Penny—”
He froze.
Yuri was already slumped over, fast asleep on the table. At least she hadn’t collapsed face-first.
“What in the world…?” Yugi muttered before his vision suddenly swam. His grip tightened on the edge of the table, fighting the sensation. He tried to resist, but as he blinked, he saw Finn and Nina’s eyes fluttering shut before they, too, passed out.
“Penny…” Yugi’s voice weakened as he slumped forward, unable to fight whatever she had slipped into their drinks.
“…What the fuck?”

Minutes Later…
The once lively restaurant was now eerily quiet. All of its patrons lay unconscious—not from alcohol, but from something far more deliberate.
All except two.
Penny hummed happily, sipping her beer as she admired her handiwork. The only other conscious person was Atlas, who remained seated beside her, leisurely drinking his wine. His forehead was still slightly red and swollen from the earlier impact.
“This…” Atlas trailed off, scanning the table filled with unconscious bodies. “…is not a good crime scene.”
Penny giggled, turning to him. “But still, I successfully drugged everyone without them realizing it. I’m good at this.”
Atlas raised a brow. “Let’s assume you did… poison them. How exactly do you plan on getting away with it?”
And just like that, the two began brainstorming ways to escape a hypothetical crime.
After all, this was just a test run for Atlas’s ridiculous murder plot.
