Chapter 1340: Special delivery for aunt
Penny and Atlas tried to think of a way out of this. If they could, then it would be a successful test. However, nothing came to mind.
“Wow.” Penny gasped in disbelief, laughing as sweat beaded on her forehead. “I’m going to prison!”
Atlas just sighed and took a sip of his wine. “I’ll wait for the bail to get posted.”
“First Brother!” Penny yelled, staring at him in dismay. “This was your idea! How come I’m the one going to jail for it?”
“It was my idea, but I wasn’t the one who did it.”
Penny held her breath, her eyes widening in shock.
“Are you scared your husband is going to be angry at you?”
“No!” Penny scoffed. “Renren won’t be mad at me—as long as I wake up next to him. He’d just think he drank more than he should have.”
Atlas gave his sister a long look, making Penny narrow her eyes.
“What?” she asked. “Why are you looking at me like that?”
“I’m not,” Atlas said, glancing to the side—the exact opposite of what he claimed. He was absolutely judging her.
“Ugh…” Penny pinched the bridge of her nose and took another sip, drinking more than she should.
Catching this, Atlas wondered, ‘Is drunk Penny coming out now?’
Although Penny had been drinking, her tolerance seemed higher than before. She hadn’t passed out yet. But with how fast she was chugging down bottles, he was curious if it was only a matter of time.
Little did he know, Penny’s alter ego didn’t need her to pass out anymore to take over.
“They’re going to sleep until tomorrow,” Penny murmured. “And moving them to the van will look like we’re hauling dead bodies. I just hope no one sees us, or we’ll have a police investigation on our hands.”
“Then we leave them here,” Atlas said.
“Are you heartless?” she shot back, looking at him in disbelief. “I know you’re cold, but that’s really cold.”
“Do you have a better idea?”
“…No.”
“Then that’s it.” Atlas shrugged, feeling a little bad for everyone. But in hindsight, they all deserved this. This was just a small taste of Penny’s wrath—they should count themselves lucky.
The Bennets. The Cortez family. This was Penny settling scores all at once.
“If you’re going to leave us here, at least lower the AC,” a voice suddenly mumbled. “And maybe bring some pillows for Mom, Dad, Aunt Jessa, and Uncle Lester. Also, Uncle Haines. They’re a bit old.”
Atlas and Penny nearly jumped.
Their heads snapped toward the sound—Hugo, peeking at them with one eye, his head resting on his arms.
Penny: “…”
Atlas: “???”
“Penny, I thought you spiked his drink?” Atlas whispered.
Penny’s face twitched as she stared at Hugo, who closed his eyes again. “I did. I even gave him an extra dose just in case.”
“Hugo, if you’re awake, stop pretending,” Atlas said flatly.

Hugo lazily turned his head away from them. “I’m drugged. Please don’t bother me.” He yawned. “I’m not the one staging a crime scene and testing it on my family. I’m the victim here. And I’m definitely not carrying everyone home.”

Minutes later…
Hugo winced as he hauled his unconscious parents into the car.
“I should’ve kept my mouth shut,” he grumbled, sighing as he looked at the sleeping passengers. “Damn it.”
In the end, he still helped those two in taking home their parents. After securing them, he climbed into the driver’s seat and drove them home.

Meanwhile, in the parking lot…
Slater wept in front of Penny and Atlas.
“I am a victim too!” he wailed. “Why am I not being treated like one?!”
Unlike Hugo, who blew his own cover by talking, Slater had played dead perfectly. But once Hugo was caught, Atlas and Penny started to suspect Slater hadn’t fallen for it either.
After all, Slater’s secret was already out. They could no longer just see him as their oblivious Third Brother.
So, they tickled him.
Slater lasted a few seconds before breaking down into laughter, wriggling under their assault. And now, here he was, standing before them—after hauling Jessa, Lester, and Nina back to their car.
“This is unfair!” he sniffled. “Am I not a good actor anymore? Do I need acting lessons again?”
“Just go.” Penny waved him off. “Make sure they’re comfortable in bed. Go.”
“Ugh!” Slater stomped his foot like a child but still trudged to the driver’s seat. In the end, he complied and drove the Cortez couple home. Yuri went with them since she lived in the same house.
Afterward, Penny and Atlas returned to the restaurant, scanning the remaining people still knocked out inside: Nina, Finn, Haines, Yugi, and Zoren.
“Call Angel,” Atlas said quietly. “We’ll just send everyone to your place.”
Penny nodded. “I don’t think they’d mind waking up there.” She pulled out her phone and quickly composed a message. “Renren shouldn’t have sent his escorts away.”
“I agree. But Penny…” Atlas trailed off, eyes shifting toward Haines. “Why didn’t you send Uncle Haines with Mom and Dad?”
“…” Penny smacked her lips, then turned to Atlas with a slow, wide grin.
Her giggle made Atlas narrow his eyes. “What are you planning?”
Penny’s grin only grew.
“Uncle Haines knows I spiked his drink. Maybe Yugi, too. Yugi, I can handle tomorrow. But Uncle Haines… he will hold this against me. So, I’m going to shut him up.”
Atlas frowned. “How?”
Penny’s grin grew blinding.
—
Ding dong!
Grace frowned, pulling her eyes away from the case file she was reading.
“Who’s coming here at this hour?” she muttered, setting the files aside and getting up. She tied the silk robe around her waist as she headed for the door.
Before opening it, she checked the door monitor—and blinked.
“Penny?” she blurted, hurrying to open the door.
But when she did, it wasn’t just Penny and Atlas.
In front of them was a trolley. And on it… was Haines, unconscious, with a pillow carefully placed under his head.
Deep lines appeared between Grace’s brows as she looked up at the siblings.
“Penny, we need to start forming a defense team right now.”
“Hehe. Don’t worry, you’re enough!” Penny beamed, pushing the trolley forward. “Special delivery~! Where do I put him, Auntie?”
“…”
