Chapter 1377: Damn, this is easy.
[Skyline Plaza: The Old Pierson Residence]
Penny sat on the edge of the bed, pausing as Zoren’s voice came from behind her.
“Where are you headed?” he asked, half asleep. “Penny?”
She glanced back at him and slid over. “Home,” she said, poking his nose lightly. “Renren, I just need to pick up something. Maybe I’ll go for a morning run too.”
“It’s morning already?” He frowned. “Wait for me. I’ll go with you.”
“Nope.” Penny shook her head, making him pout. “Renren, I’ll be back for breakfast. Besides, I can’t focus when you’re around. So, you stay.”
Zoren clicked his tongue softly, pulling her into his arms. “Just stay here,” he murmured, his voice husky. “Don’t go.”
“I’ll be back~” she cooed, giggling in his embrace. “Promise.”
“Before I wake up?” he asked, making Penny pause for a second.
“Sure.” She grinned. “You won’t even notice I was gone.”
Zoren sighed heavily but reluctantly let her go. Staying at the old residence had become part of their routine, especially since Penny had to monitor Old Mrs. Pierson regularly. Still, he knew she had sent Mark on an errand tonight, and she’d been waiting for the results. She was even quite excited about it.
“Come back,” he said one last time, watching her crawl away from him. “Or I’ll come get you.”
“Of course,” Penny chuckled, nodding as she sat on the edge of the bed again. “Sleep some more, my honey-bunch sugar plum.”
“Mhm.” Zoren closed his eyes, but then opened them again as he watched her head to the closet to change. He sighed to himself. ‘I should earn her trust again.’
He blamed himself for the times Penny chose to leave him behind. It was his fault… or maybe just Penny’s irresistible appeal. He prided himself on having self-control in many things, but when it came to her, it was nearly nonexistent. If he could stay inside her 24/7, he would.
Could anyone blame him? His wife was just too… delectable.
Just thinking about it, especially last night… oh, such great memories to take in the afterlife.
Little did he know, Penny’s reasons for leaving him behind were entirely different. Whenever Zoren was around, she was too distracted thinking of ways to seduce him. Nothing else seemed important. So when she needed focus, she had to make sure he wasn’t around—otherwise, her eyes would keep drifting back to him.
With that, Penny jumped onto the bed and kissed him. “See you later,” she said, planting another quick kiss on his lips before slipping away.
Zoren reached out but stopped himself from pulling her back. Instead, he watched her walk out the door. When it clicked shut behind her, another deep sigh escaped him as he stared at the ceiling.
“I shouldn’t have watched her change,” he muttered, feeling the tension in his lower body. “I’m hard.”
He lay there for minutes before finally reaching for his phone and sending a message to Benjamin.
[Move my schedule. I’ll be late today. Also, let someone in the Prime Group know Penny will be late as well.]
—
The drive from Zoren’s place to the old residence was no more than ten minutes, so it was never a hassle to visit the Old Madam and spend a night. So, instead of driving, Penny decided to jog home for some exercise.
Although she and Zoren took nightly walks together, it had been a while since she had a proper workout. A short run would be good—especially if Mark didn’t find anything useful at the orphanage. Or if he did and the information was overwhelming. Either way, she needed to clear her head and condition herself for the outcome.
After more than twenty minutes of jogging, Penny reached Zoren’s place. She didn’t stop for anyone—not that there was anyone to stop for at this early hour. Heading straight to the study, she quickly checked the desk. Mark had said he would leave the item there, and he had.
Right in the center of the desk was a flash drive with a sticky note on top.
[There’s an encrypted file that needs a passcode. Ask Yugi or someone in cyber security to crack it open. I’m afraid it’ll disappear if not handled by experts.]
A smirk tugged at the corner of her lips.

“Call Yugi?” she mused, chuckling. “Why would I need to call him when I can do it myself?”
Penny turned the swivel chair and powered on Zoren’s home computer. She had used it many times before, so navigating it wasn’t a problem. Without hesitation, she inserted the flash drive. She wasn’t worried about viruses—she had personally installed the system’s security, ensuring that even corrupted files wouldn’t harm the device.
Once she started working, she didn’t stop. She quickly located the encrypted file Mark had mentioned. Just as he said, it was locked. Penny didn’t bother guessing the passcode—she knew that would be a waste of time.
“Damn, this is easy,” she murmured as her fingers slowed on the keyboard. She leaned back, pausing with a self-satisfied grin. “It’s been a while since I had to do this, but Yugi would be surprised I still got it.”
A sense of pride swelled in her chest as she pressed Enter. Just like that, the encrypted file opened.
But her satisfaction quickly faded as she read the contents. The longer she scrolled, the darker her expression grew.
She blinked. Once. Twice. Again. Many times.
Then, the office door flew open. Penny didn’t even flinch. She lifted her gaze to see Zoren standing in the doorway, already dressed in his suit.
“You said you’d be back before I even wake up,” he said, jerking his chin toward the window behind her. “It’s already morning.”
Penny furrowed her brows and glanced over her shoulder. Sunlight streamed through the glass, but she didn’t notice it until now. But she didn’t respond to that. Instead, her gaze returned to Zoren, her face still unreadable.
“What is it?” he asked, noticing the shift in her demeanor. He stepped inside, shutting the door behind him, then stopped beside the desk.
Penny locked eyes with him. Then, after a beat, she finally spoke.
“Jonathan… was in that orphanage.”
