Chapter 1426: Anti-fan club
After Yugi’s tour, the four new hires returned to their floor and office. Since there were only four of them, the space was larger than the other departments, offering a panoramic view of the city through glass walls. However, before they could even enjoy their new workspace, they were greeted by towering stacks of paperwork.
As members of the CEO’s department, it was no surprise that they received reports from all divisions. After all, Penny was known for being hands-on.
“So…” Patricia narrowed her eyes as she stood with the others, all staring at the overwhelming piles of paper. “… These aren’t here for us to shred, right?”
Teddy cast her a sidelong glance before shaking his head. “If you had been listening earlier, you’d know that as new hires in one of the most critical departments of this company, we need a clear overview of everything.” He strode toward a stack on the table in the corner and picked up the first document.
Flipping through a few pages with his thumb, he quickly skimmed the contents. “This is the finance report,” he said, looking back at the others. “I’ll start with this one.”
“Well,” Hayley shrugged indifferently as she moved toward another pile. Picking up a report and skimming through it, she smiled. “Then, I’ll take Research and Development.”
Shawn reached for the documents in front of him. “This is marketing. I’ll handle this along with the Customer Service reports.”
Without further discussion, the three of them got to work, each focusing on their assigned reports. They had split the tasks naturally, without any debate or hesitation.
Then, as if on cue, all three turned to Patricia.
“What are you waiting for?” Teddy asked coldly. “Pick your poison.”
Patricia pursed her lips as the others stared at her expectantly.
“He… heh…” She let out a nervous chuckle before reluctantly approaching the stack. Surely, the hardest reports had already been claimed, right? As she hesitated, a movement caught her eye.
Like the others, she turned her head just in time to see Penny walking down the hallway toward her office.
“That’s the big boss,” Hayley mused. “Now that I see her in that suit, I feel ashamed for not recognizing her earlier.”
Shawn nodded. “She’s kinda cool, even when she’s just walking.”
Teddy remained silent, his gaze locked on Penny. He exhaled softly, nodding to himself as his resolve strengthened. He was grateful to Yugi, but he was also grateful to Penny.
‘After all… that woman… is the only person they won’t touch,’ he thought.
“Uhm…” Patricia hummed absentmindedly, only to notice another group heading in the same direction as Penny. “Huh?”
Her reaction made the others look as well. Four unfamiliar men—clearly not from Prime Group—were also walking toward Penny’s office.
“Who are they?” Shawn muttered under his breath, his eyes lingering on the tallest of the group. “Is he alright? He looks a little pale.”
Hayley furrowed her brows, tracking their movements. When she spotted one of them, her eyes narrowed.
“He looks familiar,” she murmured, only for Teddy to answer.
“Atlas Bennet,” Teddy said solemnly. “The new Chief Operating Officer of Pierson Corporation. He made headlines not long ago. They’re from the Pierson Corporation, I presumed.”
The moment Pierson Corporation was mentioned, the three instantly understood who those men were. Clearly, they weren’t Prime Group employees but representatives of a corporate empire—one that even they had heard of.
Unlike the others, Patricia stiffened and subtly tried to hide behind the stacks of paper.
She recognized them immediately—Zoren, Atlas, Benjamin, and… what was his name again?
Allen.
“Huh?” Shawn noticed Patricia’s reaction and frowned. “Patricia, are you okay?”
Patricia flinched. Now all three of them were looking at her.
“Haha! Of course, I am!” she forced a laugh, grabbing a random stack of paper. “I’ll just—uh—start with this.” She glanced at the report in her hands, and her face twitched. “Operations management. Great.”

‘OMG. Why does this sound so hard?’ she mentally lamented but quickly shook off the thought. Instead, she peeked at the four men disappearing down the hallway.
‘Oh, God. I knew I’d run into them sooner or later since I’m working for Penny, but not on my first day! I am not mentally prepared for this!’
With a deep sigh, she dragged her stack of papers to a corner seat. When she applied for this job, she had imagined simply following Penny around, making her tea, fetching her food, and pretending to be productive. But what was with all this paperwork?!
‘Luckily, these three are here,’ she thought, peeking at Teddy, Hayley, and Shawn, who were already immersed in their tasks. ‘They can be the brains, and I can be the… mouth.’
Still, Patricia was a fighter and a survivor. Even if she didn’t understand a thing, she would at least try. Who knew? Maybe she had some hidden talents.
The department fell into silence as everyone focused on their work.
Then, a faint knock at the entrance drew their attention.
Slowly, they all turned to look.
It was Mark.
This was their first time seeing him, and his expression was unreadable.
“The CEO is calling all of you to her office,” Mark announced monotonously, scanning their faces. “Now.”
Without another word, he turned on his heel and walked away, returning to his post. Normally, he wouldn’t bother with this, but since no one else would summon them without going through layers of bureaucracy, he took the initiative.
The four exchanged confused glances.
“Isn’t she with Pierson’s representatives?” Hayley wondered aloud. “It’s not like she’d introduce us to her business associates.”
Her brows lifted slightly when she noticed Teddy rising from his seat without hesitation.
“Geez. Is this how he’s going to be?” she muttered before standing up as well. She knew Teddy had aced the interview, but Hayley wasn’t one to be outdone. She wanted to be noticed too.
“Uh…” Shawn hesitated before getting up, feeling a bit nervous. He then glanced at Patricia. “Aren’t you coming? Teddy and Hayley are already leaving.”
“Uh, right!” Patricia let out another nervous laugh. “Wait, I just need to organize this so it doesn’t get mixed up.”
“Alright.”
“I’ll catch up!” she assured him. But seeing that Shawn was barely moving, she reluctantly followed.
None of them had any idea why Penny was calling them while her high-profile guests were still there.
Little did they know, she simply wanted to brag.
And even less did they realize that they were about to meet the leaders of their anti-fan club.
