Chapter 1456: Nostalgia
[Skyline Plaza: Finn’s]
Nina and Finn, idling on the balcony, looked up at the sky in awe. They hadn’t expected a meteor shower; they had just been chatting about what to do tomorrow.
“It’s so beautiful,” she mused. “Finn, we should make a wish!”
Nina turned to Finn and playfully slapped his shoulder, making him flinch. She grinned before clasping her hands together and closing her eyes, thinking of a sincere wish.
Finn, however, just stared at her profile. Watching her make such a serious face with her eyes shut, he couldn’t help but smile to himself.
‘A wish, huh?’ he thought, shifting his gaze back to the sky, watching the stunning celestial event unfold. ‘What else could I wish for… when I already have everything I want?’
He had already been lucky enough to be reborn—to have this second chance at life. A chance he once feared he was wasting, but in the end, everything turned out alright. He might have failed at many things, but not this.
Not Nina.
Looking back at her, his expression softened with affection. Slowly, he closed his eyes and made a wish anyway. It felt a little silly, but if there was even the tiniest chance that wishes could come true, he would take it.
‘I wish…’ His smile stretched slightly. ‘…for Nina to always be safe and happy in this life.’
When he opened his eyes, Nina still had hers shut, lost in her thoughts. A moment later, she finally opened them, looking at him with a giggle.
“Did you make a wish?” he asked.
She nodded. “I wished for a lot of things,” she chuckled, gazing back up at the sky. “Did you? You should, before it’s too late.”
“I did.”
His answer made her glance back at him.
“Really?” she asked, stepping closer.
“Uh-huh.”
“Then, what was it?”
Finn opened his mouth as if to tell her, but then a mischievous smile crossed his face. He remained silent, making her pout.
“Finn, tell me! What did you wish for?” she demanded, tugging at his arm.
“It’s a secret.”
“Come on~! I’ll tell you mine!”
“Nope.”
With that, Finn turned and walked back inside.
Still curious, Nina narrowed her eyes before following him. “Finn! Will you really not tell me?”
But he didn’t answer—just stifled a laugh while his beloved nagged him all night. It wasn’t an annoying nag, but rather the kind that filled the walls with warmth and harmony.

Meanwhile, on the road…
Grace and Haines stopped on the side of the road, staring up at the sky.
“Did you know,” Grace muttered, her eyes fixed on the stars, “that if there’s a meteor shower, you should make a wish? It might come true.”

Haines didn’t answer, simply watching the sky. ‘Is that so?’ he thought. ‘Then… would it come true if I wished for her to get healed?’
“But chances are, it won’t happen,” she added, making him glance at her. She grinned, chuckling. “If I were to make a wish… hmm? I wouldn’t even know what to wish for.”
“Why?” he asked, causing her to look at him. “Don’t you have any wishes?”
“I don’t,” she said with a smirk. “I believe in hard work. If I want something, I don’t rely on wishes—I make it happen myself.”
She winked, exuding confidence. Haines almost chuckled to himself. Of course, she had to say all that right after he’d just made a secret wish.
With that, he resumed driving, the sky still filled with mesmerizing streaks of light.

[Miller’s Home]
Patricia cupped her face in her hands as she leaned against the window sill, staring at the night sky. She blinked, unimpressed by the sight that seemed to captivate everyone else.
“If I were to make a wish…” she trailed off, not really thinking it through. “…I’d wish I could just download all these records straight into my brain.”
If that ever came true, she wouldn’t have to stay up so late reading reports.
Even though she wasn’t as naturally brilliant as Teddy, Hayley, or Shawn, she didn’t want to be the weak link in the office. Sure, half the time, she barely understood the reports they reviewed, but she still put in the extra hours at home to read and learn.
Sometimes, her brother would help her with difficult terms. She never wanted to rely on him too much, though.
“But that’s never gonna happen,” she sighed, pushing away from the window and returning to her desk to continue reading and making notes.

[Skyline Plaza: Pierson Old Residence]
“Old Madam!” Butler Hubert exclaimed, rushing over when he spotted the elderly woman standing in the courtyard. He found Old Mrs. Pierson gazing up at the sky with a faint smile.
“Old Madam?” he called again, stepping closer.
Still staring at the sky, she leaned lightly on her cane, her aged features soft with nostalgia.
“Isn’t it beautiful, Butler Hu?” her frail voice broke the silence. “Renren told me there would be a meteor shower tonight. I thought I should check if he was right.”
“Old Madam…” Butler Hubert let out a shallow breath. “You should have told me. I would have brought you a chair and something warm—it’s a little chilly tonight.”
He turned to fetch them, but just as he did, Old Mrs. Pierson said something strange.
“Butler Hu,” she called. “Do you think… I have already died?”
Deep lines formed between his brows as he turned back to her. “Old Madam, please don’t say such ominous things.”
“Haha!” She let out a gentle laugh, shaking her head mildly. Then, she slowly extended a hand toward him for assistance.
He quickly went to her side, offering his arm for support.
“That’s not what I meant, Butler Hu,” she said, nodding in gratitude. “I’m just saying… Renren is a blessed child. If he truly wishes for something from the bottom of his heart, it will happen. I know because… I was told the same thing once.”
A wistful chuckle escaped her lips as she took slow steps back inside.
“Meteor showers remind me of many things,” she murmured, “including my decision to marry him. We had a good life together, didn’t we? How nostalgic.”
