Chapter 1479: CITADEL SYSTEM: ONLINE.
Meanwhile, somewhere…

[Launching Citadel…]

A man jumped back slightly in his seat, his eyes widening as he gazed at the multiple screens before him. All of them displayed Citadel’s loading screen. Panic quickly swelled in his chest, his breathing growing heavy and fast.

“What—what’s going on?” His lips quivered, his complexion paling. “How—how did she get into my system?”

How?

When?

“No!” he yelled, pulling himself back toward the desk to stop the attack. As a hacker, he knew that once Citadel launched, Penny would have control over his system. He could only imagine what would happen next.

It would be bad.

“Shit, shit, shit! How can she do this?!” The man gritted his teeth, his shoulders tensing as he tried to fight it off. Glancing at the other screen, he saw Penny still working on the computer. “Shit! How—how could she do that?!”

“Why did no one tell me that woman actually knows how to hack?!”

[Back to the Main Hall]

“Hey, am I dreaming?” Someone from the crowd rubbed his eyes. “Am I seeing this correctly?”

A few people in the audience scanned the screens around the event hall, seeing the Citadel logo appear on them. “What in the world is going on?”

“Didn’t you say she doesn’t know anything?” another one breathed out, their mouth falling open. “Is this her work?”

“Impossible!” another one exclaimed in disbelief. “It’s probably an expert from the Prime Group!”

The people who heard this looked at the speaker and nodded. In their minds, it wasn’t like they were hoping the Prime Group would fall, but they just couldn’t believe what they were watching. Looking at Penny working on the computer, they just couldn’t wrap their heads around it.

How could one be so successful? And at the same time, so pretty? Not to mention, know how to code?

That didn’t make sense to them.

It would, however, if only they knew that Penny had lived two lifetimes.

“No.” One of the eliminated players breathed out, his eyes never leaving the stage as he caught some of the code on the other screen while Penny regained control of everything within minutes. “That’s impossible.”

“See?” The audience behind them looked at the rest. “I was right.”

“That’s not it,” said another player, slowly turning to face the audience. “I understand how you came to that conclusion, but moments ago, this place was on lockdown.”

“Huh?”

“What does that mean?”

“A lockdown?”

“Does that mean we can’t get out?”

“Not that kind of lockdown,” said the person trying to clarify for the doubters. “What I meant by that is no outside source can enter the system anymore. Even I didn’t realize that until all those scripts started popping up over there.”

The man pointed at the smaller screen on the side. “You don’t understand it completely, but it means to fix the problem, it should be fixed from within. So, anyone outside the system can’t infiltrate or just get a virus—worse, their hard drives will explode just by running it.”

“In other words, she’s the one fixing this problem,” another player muttered, keeping his eyes on the stage.

“Then how could she launch this Citadel?” someone who was still a little doubtful and confused inquired. “If it’s true that no one outside the system could send backup, how could they send it to her?”

“She opened it for them,” another player from the other eliminated team whispered. “However, the opening was brief. It only took a second before it was shut down. X was shutting all of them off.”

“It takes a lot of skills just to send and receive this file,” said another one. “And a whole ton of timing.”

“You guys…” someone said, shaking his head, almost holding his breath. “This is some next-level shit. I feel like an amateur just watching this. It feels insulting when all you are saying is bullshit, while here I am, feeling like an ant just by watching their back-and-forth.”

The audience furrowed their brows, looking at each other. Then, they set their eyes on the players who had briefly joined their conversation.

Meanwhile, the same sentiment was shared by the players on the stage. At this point, Team A and Team D stood behind Penny just to watch. Initially, Penny was already moving fast, but now she was moving even faster.

“How could she still go fast?” someone from Team A felt his jaw hit the floor. “Impossible.”

“This is insane,” one of his teammates breathed out. “Ah, shit.”

“She’s blocking the attacks while simultaneously launching Citadel and sending cyber attacks!” another from Team D exclaimed, covering his mouth. He could barely blink while watching all of this unfold.

“My eyes are burning already.” One person stopped himself from blinking so much, knowing if he did, he would miss a lot of crucial moments. This was like a lecture at four times speed!

Others, on the other hand, could only stay silent and focused on what was happening. Right now, Penny was protecting Citadel’s launch from the incoming attacks. But instead of just defending, she was also launching attacks at the same time. Above all that, she was keeping control of every electronic device in the venue, not giving X time to open anything.

“She’s caging him,” Nathaniel blurted out under his breath. “What in the world is going on?”

Shock was written on everyone’s faces, their eyes fixed on Penny’s back. All their mouths fell open. They knew at this point that they looked ridiculous, but who cared?

Just moments ago, they had been questioning Penny’s skills, and one of them had even tried to offer help. But this woman didn’t need help! Rather, she needed to open classes to teach them a trick or two! All of them felt slapped in the face, realizing just how advanced her skills were compared to theirs.

“At this point, she might be able to take down X,” someone murmured, his eyes shifting to the Citadel launch. “It’s complete.”

As soon as those words escaped his mouth, the corner of Penny’s mouth curled into a smirk.

“Let’s get him, Cita,” she whispered, working faster on the keyboard for the next full minute. After the one-minute mark—after approving all commands to the system—Penny only tapped one button:
