Chapter 1505: Revive her from the dead!
Penny’s best bet for the enemy’s benefit after Global Prime Logistics’ downfall was that they had used Miller’s Company to rise in the industry. The details were unclear, but Penny was sure of it.

Miller’s Company had taken charge of some ports previously under the Bennet Family’s control.

If the enemy was behind it, they could have shipped — or rather, smuggled — a lot of things in and out of Anteca.

But this orphanage?

What would they gain by framing Cassandra?

It was a question Penny had in mind all night, keeping her awake until late. She’d been wracking her brain, but to no avail. All she got were some added eye bags.

Hayley, Teddy, Shawn, and Patricia looked at Penny with curiosity. She was standing by the entrance of their department, the bags under her eyes darker than usual, her complexion a little pale, and overall, she looked a bit haggard.

Working in this office had given them glimpses of different sides of Penny in various outfits. After all, Penny didn’t just come into the office in smart casuals. There were days she wore simple shirts and jeans and other times, skirts and girly attire. Perks of having a room in the building.

But today was the first time they’d seen her in what they could only call “zombie mode.”

“Uh, Miss Penny?” Teddy cautiously approached, eyeing her with curiosity. “Is everything alright?”

Penny blinked and looked back at him. “Huh?”

She looked away, only to see the other three approaching with the same concern and confusion in their eyes.

“Penny, you look like you just went to a party all night and came straight to work!” Patricia intoned. “Are we in trouble? Please don’t tell me you’re not going to declare bankruptcy!”

Teddy winced a little at Patricia’s random remark. However, this was not the time to lecture her, so he refocused his attention on Penny.

“Hey, quick question,” Penny remarked. “For instance, you died—”

“Huh?”

Penny stopped, seeing the even more confused expressions on their faces. “Never mind.” She waved them off and turned on her heel. But as she took a step, Hayley’s voice stopped her.

“Miss Penny, why were you here? Don’t you have any orders to give us?”

“…” Penny ran her tongue across her inner cheek and looked back at them. “To be honest? I don’t even know why I stopped here.”

With that, she resumed her steps and went back to her office.

The four assistants tilted their heads to the right in sync, eyes on Penny’s back. After a moment, they looked at each other and exchanged shrugs.

“Is she alright?” Hayley asked with concern. “I’m a little worried.”

“I’ve never seen her this distraught,” Shawn commented, nodding. “I wonder what made her look like that?”

Teddy, on the other hand, kept his eyes fixed on where Penny had gone. His mouth pressed into a thin line, wondering what he could do to help whatever was bothering his boss. Then—

“Hah!” Patricia crossed her arms and smirked proudly. Her reaction made the others furrow their brows. “You guys… It’s probably nothing. Did you see Penny during that Cyber Competition Event? It almost became an epic fail, but Citadel is expected to reach billions — with a capital S.”

“Huh?” The three of them furrowed their brows, looking back at her with mixed emotions.

As far as the others were concerned, they never thought the company was in serious trouble. Only Patricia seemed concerned about that.

What was she talking about?

Was this her way of comforting herself?

“Penny probably just woke up on the wrong side of the bed or stayed up watching a drama!” Patricia continued, making the judgment in their eyes even more evident.

Penny? Watching a drama?

Although their boss could be a bit crazy at times, she didn’t seem like the type. If anything, they imagined Penny watching documentaries or true-crime series, not dramas.

“But this is where we step in as her assistants!” Patricia continued energetically. “Penny clearly isn’t in the mood, and she looks like a ghost at the moment. We need to revive her!”

“Patricia, what are you rambling about now?” Teddy couldn’t take the nonsense anymore.

Shawn nodded but hesitated before adding, “Patricia, I think it’s a bit rude to associate a very alive person with death.”

“You guys…” Patricia clicked her tongue and looked at Hayley. “Hayley, do you want to earn some brownie points?”

Hayley’s brows shot up before she glanced at the guys. She then discreetly hooked her arm around Patricia’s and flashed them a smile.

“Bathroom break!” she announced, then dragged Patricia out of the department.

Shawn: “…”

Teddy: “…”

Both men stared at their colleagues fleeing the office for whatever plan they had. Hayley didn’t need to lie; it was clear as day they were planning something again.

“Hey…” Shawn cautiously looked at Teddy. “I think we should follow them.”

“In the women’s restroom?”

Shawn scratched the back of his head and laughed awkwardly. Of course, not inside, but he understood that kind of action could be rude.

“Let’s not mind them too much,” Teddy said indifferently as he walked back to his desk.

But Shawn frowned and followed him. “But what if they do what they did after the competition?” he asked worriedly. “I heard Miss Penny was very pleased with them after that. It’s why they got their own projects.”

Teddy froze as he remembered that day.

After the Cyber Competition Prime Group held, Patricia and Hayley used their night to devise a plan to earn Penny’s good graces. The next morning, they woke up early to deliver breakfast to Penny’s room. They showered her with so much food that Penny was smiling all day.

Now, those two had some minor tasks at hand instead of their usual workload.

Looking back at Shawn, Teddy finally understood his worries. Teddy had already earned his first assignment, and Patricia and Hayley were also working on their first solo tasks. However, Shawn was stuck in the usual routine. Hence, Shawn’s concern.

“…” Teddy nodded. “I have a plan.”
