Chapter 1510: Cassandra is not getting out of that prison.
The days passed as usual.
Penny didn’t think much about Cassandra’s case or her first life. Thanks to her assistants, her mood had improved, and she was able to work without any problems. Surely, all it took for her to get back on track was a good feast.
“I guess I should call it a day,” she whispered, glancing at the time. It was almost five now. Penny started preparing to leave for the day.
After the competition, her workload had lightened. She could afford to relax for a bit.
But just as Penny decided to stop dwelling on it and move on with her life, she paused and gazed at her computer. Pursing her lips, she let out another sharp and heavy sigh.
“It’s no harm to check,” she muttered, sitting back in her chair and visiting the web. “I don’t think it’s going to affect my mood at this point.”
After all, Penny realized that this matter was not something that should affect her in any way. Cassandra was not important in her life; that woman was just a bully under that beautiful shell of hers. Besides, whatever this was, it was much better for Penny to focus on her and her family’s survival.
As usual, she didn’t need to search any forums or specific articles for updates on Cassandra’s case. It was all over the news and the internet. All she needed to do was decide which source to check.
“…” Penny skimmed through a few articles. Her expression grew more solemn, and her brows furrowed with each passing moment.
According to the articles, the investigation is still ongoing. Since Penny had gone through the same process and persecution before, she wasn’t surprised by this. However, since Cassandra was the granddaughter of a current senator from a powerful political party, the news was growing bigger and more uncontrollable.
Senator Smith had already held a press conference, standing tall and proud before the public.
Many speculators online expressed shock and frustration. A petition for the Senator to step down was gaining traction, while others believed this was a deliberate attack on his credibility and his candidacy for the upcoming presidential election.
“…” Penny remained silent as she absorbed the articles, her lips parting slightly as she whispered, “No way.”
Since the news broke out the day before, Penny had been racking her brain for any connection. After all, her case was very different from Cassandra’s, yet something about it felt eerily similar. She just couldn’t pinpoint what it was, but deep down, she knew there was something to it.
Now, after reading these articles and watching a short clip of Senator Smith’s statement, something clicked in her mind.
“In the past, the Bennets were accused of corruption, bribery, and even smuggling illegal goods, including opening ports for terrorists,” she whispered, the lines on her forehead deepening. “But since there’s been a lot of change in our family…”
Which includes Charles’s existence. Charles had been in the logistics business since the day he was born and had managed to monitor Global Prime Logistics even after Atlas took over. Infiltrating Global Prime Logistics was not impossible, but it wasn’t ideal with Charles still at the helm, despite Atlas taking charge.
That’s why these people—whoever they were—approached Sven to get through to Stephen. However, that plan had failed miserably… or perhaps not. If their goal was to drive Atlas away, then whoever was behind those pills had already succeeded.
Penny doubted that.
Logically, if Chairman Bennet had been poisoned—just as the enemy believed—and Stephen suddenly took over, it would have caused infighting within the Bennet family. After all, there was already tension among them. But that didn’t happen. Instead, Atlas accepted his dismissal peacefully and later announced his new position at Pierson Corporation.
That made Atlas untouchable by Global Prime.
Pierson Corporation, after all, was not something to trifle with—mainly because of Zoren, but also because of how vast and influential the family was, including the wealthy individuals who married into it.
Additionally, Charles, who had already retired, suddenly took charge of the Miller Company. With him in place, even with the force behind it, Global Prime could try, but Charles Bennet’s connections in logistics spread far and wide—deeper than anyone could imagine. And with Haines in the mix, they would have caught any problematic issues before they even became a real problem.
In other words, the Bennet family had already avoided a scandalous situation when Stephen reached out and shared the plan. If Stephen hadn’t, they could have easily fallen into a meticulously laid trap. At the end of the day, Chairman Bennet was still Charles’s father, and he wouldn’t let it slide if Stephen truly poisoned the chairman.
“So, with the Bennets not an option anymore…” Penny trailed off, looking at the article before her with a sharp gaze. “They needed to devise another plan.”
After all, their goal—or rather, what she believed from everything she knew—was that, after the Bennet family’s downfall, Miller’s Company would quickly rise in the industry. With the enemy likely pulling the strings, they had gained access to a few of the largest ports in Anteca.
In simpler terms, this organization could smuggle anything they wanted in and out of Anteca freely. Without the Bennet family, there was no other threat in the industry. Other companies existed, but none were as big or as well-connected as Global Prime Logistics.
“It’s not that different, after all,” she muttered again, finally gaining some clarity on the situation. “Because by framing Cassandra, they would significantly affect Senator Smith’s position and, inevitably, his candidacy.”
Penny had already been incarcerated during the presidential election. However, that didn’t mean she didn’t know who had won.
How could she forget such a detail?

“And if Senator Smith is out of the picture… wouldn’t it be better for the enemy to gain control over parts of the country?” she muttered. “Instead of just the ports and customs?”
Especially if the enemies had already shaken hands with Senator Smith’s rival?
With all these realizations dawning on her, her heart began to race. Penny held her breath as she leaned back, giving her chair a slight bounce.
“Holy shit,” she breathed out. “Cassandra is not getting out of that prison.”
