Chapter 1550: Least favorite child
The deliveries didn’t stop at one. They kept coming, all from the same sender. Before long, the people in the CEO’s office had cleared a special corner just to stack the growing mountain of packages.
“Is it Christmas?” Hayley scoffed, staring at the towering stacks.
All three of them gazed down at the base of the pile, then slowly tilted their heads up. Just Hayley’s packages alone were piled higher than she was. And there were two similar towers — one for Shawn and another for Teddy.
Both men were speechless.
“This is more than all the gifts I’ve ever received for Christmas in my whole life,” Shawn whispered. The same sentiment applied to Teddy.
Teddy didn’t have a great childhood to begin with. Shawn, at least, had humble but warm holidays. Teddy? He was lucky just to eat a full meal on those days.
“I should at least check one, right?” Hayley reached for the topmost package — the smallest among the bunch. “You guys should check yours, too.”
“Don’t you think we should ask security first?” Shawn asked nervously. “Who knows what’s in these packages… I’m a little scared.”
Teddy didn’t say a word. He simply marched over and picked up a box from the top of his stack. “Everything that goes in and out — especially into the Prime Group building — goes through scanners. Even we get scanned when we come in.”
“He’s right,” Hayley agreed, carrying her box to her desk. “If there was a bomb inside, it wouldn’t have made it past the entrance. There’s even a separate entrance for deliveries.”
Shawn glanced between the two of them. Teddy had also stopped at Hayley’s desk, so Shawn, sighing, grabbed two boxes from his stack and joined them.
The room fell into silence as the three of them focused on cutting through the bubble wrap.
Teddy was the first to react. “Huh?”
“What is it?” Hayley asked quickly. “Did you get an improvised bomb?”
“No,” Teddy said, still staring at the box as he removed the final layer of wrapping. He held up a small branded case. “I think I got a counterfeit watch.”
Hayley and Shawn leaned in to look at the logo. The brand was instantly recognizable — the kind worn by the wealthy for its exclusivity and increasing value over time.
Of course, just like other famous brands, counterfeit versions were everywhere, often sold at a fraction of the price.
“I wonder what I got…” Hayley murmured, her curiosity piqued.
When she finally got hers open, her brows furrowed. Like Teddy’s, her box bore the logo of a luxury brand — but not for watches. Inside was a bracelet from the latest high-end jewelry collection.
“Wow,” Hayley whispered, inspecting it closely. “This looks real.”
She was familiar with this specific bracelet — she’d been saving up to buy one. With her Prime Group salary, she could afford it in a few months if she budgeted well. She often visited the store or just stared at it online, as motivation.
“It looks exactly the same,” she added in awe. “Wow.”
Still, she assumed it was a knockoff. Who would send her something that expensive? The real one was worth several months of her salary, and Hayley earned more than most, almost triple her pay from her previous job. Perhaps, more than her previous supervisor.
“Teddy, I got the same!” Shawn exclaimed, holding up his own watch. “Different design, but it kind of fits me. My wrist’s bigger, anyway.”
The three of them marveled at the unexpected gifts. They knew they had work to do, but this was too strange to ignore. They decided to keep opening the packages before figuring out whether they should report it or get some advice.
After all, this was… in its own twisted way… alarming.
One by one, they tore open box after box — and their surprise only grew. Every package was branded, and inside were all kinds of luxury items: bags, wallets, ties, accessories, designer shoes, elegant pens… the list went on.

Patricia sat at her desk, gleefully opening her two packages. Unlike the others, she’d only received two. But unlike them, she was absolutely beaming.
“Kyah!” she squealed, lifting a tiny designer handbag — the kind that could only fit a phone and a lipstick. Her cheeks flushed with joy as she turned to Mark, who had paused to watch.
“Can you believe this?” she said excitedly.
“Uh…” Mark looked at the dazzling smile on her face, then at the tiny bag. His brows twitched in confusion — it was really small.
“I love it!” Patricia clutched the bag to her chest, her eyes shining. “I never even told my dad I was saving up for this…”
Tears welled up in her eyes, which she quickly wiped away. It had been a long time since Patricia went on a shopping spree. She’d been controlling her spending lately, partly out of discipline — and partly because the things she liked were just too expensive.
But having grown up around luxury, she could tell at a glance when something was real.
And this? This was definitely the real deal.
“I wonder what the second one is?” she whispered to herself, opening the other package.
Her scream made Mark wince and cover his ears. “Kyaah! It’s a necklace from my favorite brand~! I’m so happy~! Is it my birthday or something? I’ve been such a good girl…”
She clasped her face and murmured something about having a reserved seat in Heaven, while Mark shook his head and looked away, pretending he didn’t hear any of it.

Meanwhile, in the Pierson Corporation, inside the CEO’s office…
“I see,” Zoren said into the phone, nodding with a pleased smile. “Thank you.”
He ended the call, satisfied. His gifts had been delivered to his “children.” He was just about to call Yugi to ask about their reactions when — bam — the office door slammed open.
Zoren looked up slowly.
Standing at the entrance was Atlas, radiating an invisible — but unmistakable — aura of rage.
“First Brother,” Zoren said calmly, raising his hands slightly, “whatever it is, just remember: Patricia is still my daughter. Your niece.”
His voice took on a placating tone. “Even if she is the neglected child… the least favorite… I thought she deserved a gift. Or two.”
