Chapter 1611: The people in the Pierson Corporation were all kind
Charles’ concern and confession had left Butler Jen restless—especially since Haines hadn’t come home last night, and Allison had already begun noticing her husband’s somberness.
Butler Jen could’ve told Allison everything, but he knew Charles—and even Haines—would rather keep it from her. Charles had always tried to protect his wife from his past, knowing it would only hurt her and affect her in ways he didn’t want to imagine. Haines was the same. Butler Jen had been with the family long enough to understand that.
Even so, his concern for Haines wouldn’t let him stay idle. The issue was too big to ignore, and he knew he needed to take precautionary steps to prevent the worst from happening.
That was what led him to the front of the Pierson Corporation building.
Butler Jen glanced at the flow of people entering the building. Compared to their crisp, professional attire, his uniform stood out, but he didn’t let it bother him as he headed for the entrance.
No sooner had he stepped inside than a security guard rushed over to him.
“Wait, sir,” the guard said, pausing as Butler Jen stopped. He scanned him from head to toe, gulping slightly as he recalled former colleagues who were fired for mishandling unexpected visitors—especially when it involved Atlas.
The guard wasn’t about to make the same mistake. Not with Zoren or Atlas in charge.
“I’m sorry, but I can’t let you in without completing a security check,” the guard explained, motioning toward the scanners where visitors were receiving passes.
Butler Jen gave a polite smile and nodded. “Apologies. I didn’t know.”
“It’s okay. Come with me,” the guard said, leading him to the checkpoint for non-employees.
Butler Jen complied without protest, walking through the scanner and submitting to a thorough inspection by another security officer. It was his first time visiting the Pierson Corporation, and the level of scrutiny surprised him. Even Anteca’s airport security had nothing on this.
“Is it over?” he asked kindly, holding the visitor pass.
“The check, yes. But that pass is just for this one,” the guard explained, pointing at the turnstiles leading to the lobby.
“Ah.” Butler Jen nodded, smiling. “Thank you.”
The guard smiled back, but as Butler Jen walked off, he felt compelled to follow.
Sensing the presence behind him, Butler Jen slowed down and looked over his shoulder. “Is something the matter?”
“Ah—no,” the guard replied, waving awkwardly. “Just making sure you know how it all works.”
“How kind of you,” Butler Jen said warmly. “I didn’t know people at Pierson Corporation were so considerate.”
Not really, the guard thought. Most of us are just trying to keep our jobs after the last purge.
“If you need anything, just tell me,” the guard added, stopping near the turnstiles.
With another polite nod, Butler Jen tapped the access card and moved on. Just based on this interaction, his impression of the company was far better than how Zoren and Atlas had described it. Maybe those two were just slandering the place for extra leave days.

When he reached the front desk, the receptionist greeted him with a bright smile.
“Hi, yes? Can I help you?”
“I’m here to see Sir Atlas Bennet,” he replied with a nod.
“Do you have an appointment with him?”
“No,” Butler Jen said honestly. “He doesn’t know I’m coming today.”
“I see. I’m sorry, sir, but we can’t let you through without an appointment,” she said respectfully, still maintaining a kind tone.
But that wasn’t what made Butler Jen smile. It was the way Atlas was being treated here—with importance and authority. Of course, he knew Atlas was significant in Pierson Corporation, but compared to how accessible he was at Global Prime Logistics, this was a refreshing difference.

“I understand,” he said. “But could you please call someone in his department? You can do that, right?”
The receptionist hesitated, studying him for a moment. There was something about the way Butler Jen carried himself—calm, composed, and gentle—that made her nod.
“Of course, sir.” She reached for the phone, then paused. “May I have your name to tell someone from the COO’s department?”
“Just tell them it’s Butler Jen.”
“Alright. Please wait a moment.”
She turned and spoke into the phone. “He says his name is Butler Jen.”
“I’ll ask Sir Allen. Hang on,” said the voice on the other end.
As the receptionist waited, she sneaked another glance at Butler Jen. He didn’t look like someone here to solicit help. Something about him made her trust his presence.
Then the reply came: “Sir Allen said to let him in—and to escort him personally to the executive lift. It’s a direct order from the COO.”
The receptionist blinked, surprised, and stole another look at him.
“Understood. Thank you.” She set the phone down and faced Butler Jen with even more respect. “I’ve been instructed to assist you to the executive lift. Sir Atlas is expecting you.”
“He is?” Butler Jen asked, a bit surprised.
“Yes. He gave the order personally.”
“Thank you.”
She gestured for a colleague to take over her post before stepping out. Walking slightly ahead, she led the way with a courteous hand gesture.
The security guard, still watching from outside the turnstiles, took note of the treatment. When he saw the receptionist personally escorting Butler Jen, he breathed a sigh of relief.
“I knew it,” he muttered, patting his chest. “He did look like an important person.”

Butler Jen’s impression of everyone in the Pierson Corporation continuously grew from the security guard to the receptionist.
“The COO’s floor is…” the receptionist remarked as she led Butler Jen to the executive lift, where only the executive could use. “Once you’ve reached the floor, you’ll easily find Sir Atlas’s office. Don’t worry. Sir Allen already told someone that you’re on the way.”
“Thank you,” Butler Jen lowered his head.
“You are most welcome.” The receptionist lowered her head a bit. “If you need anything else, I’ll be in my post.”
“Thank you,” Butler Jen expressed, watching the receptionist respectfully walk away. “Everyone here is so kind.”
He had only been here for a few minutes, but he still couldn’t understand the slander Atlas and Zoren had spewed about the company. But then again, those two were probably referring to some of the people they have to deal with and not the employees.
Still, Butler Jen didn’t think it would be that bad either.
But while Butler Jen was waiting outside the life, another figure appeared beside him. Glancing at the person, the first thing he noticed was William’s tall stature and wide physique, making him appear bigger.
William raised a brow and cast the other person a side eye, noticing how petite and small Butler Jen was.
